Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 79: The Emotionless Scumbag
Audrey Sutton felt that Shane Warner must be the type of child who was particularly mature from a young age, probably not having gone through the naive and reckless stage trying to fall in love.
But this also means he must be very precocious.
"But you’re almost thirty and haven’t had a single romance?"
Facing Audrey Sutton’s question, Shane Warner sighed and looked at the lake, saying, "Let’s go directly to the registry office when we return tomorrow."
"Why?" 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
He sneered mockingly, saying, "You should find yourself a younger one."
Audrey Sutton was momentarily stunned before realizing he was remarking on her comment about him being almost thirty.
She chuckled and deliberately teased him, "I’ll go to the registry office when I find the right one, to get divorced and married at once."
Shane Warner threw the bottle aside and stood up: "You drink by yourself."
Audrey Sutton quickly grabbed his arm: "I was joking, are you really angry?"
She smiled at him, as if wanting to see him upset.
Shane Warner didn’t speak, tilted his head back, and finished the remaining half can of beer.
"I just feel, all this time without dating, is there someone you like in your heart?"
Audrey Sutton wasn’t randomly guessing out of jealousy but analyzing it from her own heart.
Because she’s like this, the reason she hasn’t dated isn’t entirely due to interference from her brothers, but after having him in her heart, there’s no room for anyone else.
Previously, Chloe Swift also said: They can abandon love for benefits.
So she’s always been particularly curious if he had ever given up a girl due to family interference.
"Do you want the truth?" Shane Warner asked her.
Audrey Sutton pursed her lips, hesitated for two seconds before nodding, afraid he would really share an unforgettable past.
"The truth is, before marrying you, I hadn’t considered my feelings," and he added, as if in response to her comment about finding a suitable young guy to divorce him, "and after marrying you, I haven’t either."
Audrey Sutton pouted and concluded, "Alright, I get it, you’re a heartless guy who only values money and status."
Hearing Audrey Sutton’s conclusion, Shane Warner silently opened another bottle of beer, gulping down most of it.
"Snap—" Audrey Sutton slapped her ankle, then raised her hand to see a dead mosquito on her palm.
She scratched the bitten area and stood up, saying, "I’m going to get some cologne."
Shane Warner took a deep breath while looking at the lake, thinking it could have been romantic to drink and chat under such a starry sky, but he almost got aged from twenty-seven to thirty-seven due to her.
"Spritz—spritz—"
Accompanied by the sound of the spray, Shane Warner smelled a rich cologne fragrance.
She sprayed his back twice, then bent over and sprayed his feet and hands: "Why are you staring at me? Your thick skin probably doesn’t feel mosquito bites!"
"Be quiet for two minutes."
Audrey Sutton sat back down beside him, glanced at him before asking, "I didn’t say much; am I annoying you?"
He replied, "No, I just think you’re cuter when quiet."
Audrey Sutton frowned, squinted, and analyzed for two seconds, then peeled a peanut and said, "I’ll take that as a compliment."
Seeing her open another bottle of beer, probably her fourth, he didn’t stop her.
He even hoped she’d get drunk, curious to see what she’d be like when intoxicated.
Audrey Sutton, boasting she could drink a dozen, was already babbling incoherently before finishing her sixth bottle, "The east wind blows! The battle drum beats! Who’s afraid of who when drinking tonight! Come on! Cheers!"
As she spoke, she boldly clinked her can with Shane Warner’s, then decisively tilted her head back to drink.
Shane Warner couldn’t help but laugh; where did she learn these phrases?
She raised the bottle to her mouth for several seconds. Shane Warner was about to take the bottle from her hand when she swallowed the last sip, burped, and inverted the bottle drunkenly, saying, "See, I finished it..."
Before finishing her sentence, she began to fall back, and Shane Warner quickly reached out to catch her, allowing her to lean against him while mumbling, "Another dozen...hic~ not enough!"
Seeing her like this, she wasn’t far from being fully drunk.
Shane Warner set his own beer can down and didn’t immediately carry Audrey Sutton back to the tent.
He just held her quietly by the lakeside.
Noticing her wearing a thin short sleeve, Shane Warner tapped the sleeping General beside him, softly saying, "Go get my jacket."
General immediately stood up from the grass, went into the tent, and soon came out with Shane Warner’s jacket in its mouth.
Shane Warner draped the jacket over Audrey Sutton, who leaned limply against him.
Finally, peace and quiet for his ears.
The lake mirrored the moon above, the full moon creating ripples in the water.
The stars twinkled in and out of the clouds; such scenery he hadn’t seen for a long, long time.
The surroundings were quiet enough to hear insects and frogs without feeling cacophony.
Looking down at her in his arms, perhaps because of the alcohol, her face was rosy and adorable.
She randomly scratched her arm, probably bitten by mosquitoes again, and mumbled a vague curse.
Staring at her slightly pouting lips from discontent, Shane Warner’s throat shifted, eyes narrowed, and he took a deep breath hurriedly turning away.
The lake was calm and serene, yet his heart was stirred.
Seeing it was getting late, noticing her scratching here and there as if constantly bitten by mosquitoes, Shane Warner finally stood up and carried her into the tent.
As soon as he laid her down, she opened her eyes, looked at him hazily, then opened her eyes and glanced around.
Shane Warner remained motionless, thinking she’d soon close her eyes to sleep again. After a few seconds, she blinked and said, "I need to pee."
Shane Warner: "..."
She could barely walk on her own, needing support; otherwise, she might stumble after a couple of steps.
Just in time to see Laura Yates tidying things by the RV, Shane Warner asked her to accompany Audrey Sutton to the restroom.
Laura Yates, supporting Audrey Sutton from the RV, remarked, "How much did she drink? She was throwing up inside."
Before Shane Warner could reply, Audrey Sutton giggled foolishly, mumbling, "I’m not drunk... can still drink."
Laura Yates glared at Audrey Sutton before returning her to Shane Warner, saying, "You take her over first; later I’ll bring some strong tea for you."
"Alright, thank you."
He shouldn’t have indulged her bragging about drinking.
Seeing her stagger while walking, Shane Warner simply lifted her up.
She whimpered in his arms, complaining about stomach discomfort, headaches, itching here, itching there.
