Chapter 69: Chapter 69: Are They Really Siblings?

Watching Shane leave, Audrey immediately closed the door.

Smelling the aroma of the dishes, her stomach growled, and now she didn’t have time to think about how Shane would scold her. She sipped some iced milk tea first.

Afternoon.

At the end of the street, a taxi pulled up in front of a café. The door opened, and a woman in a champagne-colored suit dress stepped out, removed her sunglasses, and walked straight into the café.

"You’re here? What would you like to drink?" A man in a light gray suit stood up to greet her.

The woman replied casually, "Anything."

"Two Americanos," the man said to the server. Then he sat across from the woman, smiling lightly, and said, "It’s rare that you asked me out. Do you miss me?"

Lan Irving didn’t tease him. She lowered her head, took a folder out of her bag, and placed it on the table, saying, "Inside are the design sketches for Starfield’s new main collection, set for release next week."

Ivan Yardley glanced at her, then at the folder on the table, smiled, and said, "I don’t quite understand your intention."

Lan Irving pointed to the folder with her chin, "Open it and see. There are sample pictures inside. There’s still four days until Starfield’s new product launch. Can Celestine produce a finished product within three days?"

Ivan Yardley smiled meaningfully, opened the folder, looked at the design sketches and sample pictures inside, and said with a light smile, "Yes."

"You don’t have to be too concerned about the quality. Just make sure the style is similar."

Ivan Yardley nodded and placed the drawings back into the folder, "Got it. But... why are you doing this?"

Lan Irving retorted, "Are you afraid it’s a countermeasure?"

Ivan Yardley hesitated for two seconds before shaking his head with a light smile, "Not at all. I trust you. I just don’t understand the reason."

"No need to understand. It’s beneficial for you without any harm. You just need to follow through."

Ivan Yardley nodded, "Okay, I’ll arrange it as soon as I return."

Lan Irving said nothing more, picked up her bag, and left.

"Not going to stay for coffee?"

Lan Irving didn’t answer and went straight to the roadside to hail a taxi to leave.

It was almost five o’clock when Audrey Sutton got ready and went out to have dinner with Shane.

The Warner company and Audrey’s school faced each other across the river, taking about half an hour to walk over the bridge.

Shane didn’t get off work until five-thirty, leaving plenty of time. Audrey walked over, taking General along for a stroll.

But she overlooked the stifling weather, and after just a few minutes, she was dripping with sweat.

Even the river breeze on the bridge felt hot.

Originally, she planned to go inside for some air conditioning to cool off when she arrived at the company. But then she realized that compared to Starfield, Warner Group appeared much more grand and imposing, and even the security guards at the entrance intimidated her.

As she was there for the first time and not known to the security personnel, and with a dog in tow,

Audrey hesitated and ultimately opted to stand outside, sending Shane a message: I’ve arrived downstairs, can you get off work a bit earlier? I’m really hot.

After sending the message, several minutes passed without a reply from Shane.

Checking the time on her phone, it was already nearing five-twenty.

Never mind, she decided to endure a bit longer.

Audrey wiped the sweat off her cheeks with the back of her hand and turned to look at the stores across the street, planning to go inside one randomly, buy something, and wait there for him.

"Beep—"

A car horn sounded behind her. Audrey turned around to see a Rolls-Royce had stopped right behind her.

As she tried to determine whether the person inside was Shane, the driver’s window rolled down, and he simply reached out a hand to beckon her.

Audrey recognized the watch on his wrist and immediately rushed over with General.

As soon as she got into the car, the cool air revived her completely.

"Why didn’t you go inside?" Shane handed her two tissues.

Audrey wiped the sweat from her temples while saying, "I was afraid they wouldn’t let me in."

"No one would dare stop you."

Through the rearview mirror, Shane looked at her cheeks, flushed from the sun. Others might appear disheveled from sweating, but on her, it just added a touch of adorable innocence.

The car slowly started and stopped by the street in less than two minutes.

Shane got out to open the door, and General dashed out first, followed by Audrey.

She hadn’t cooled off enough before they arrived.

After locking the car, Shane held the dog leash in one hand and Audrey’s hand in the other.

It was dinner time, and the place was bustling, nearly every seat occupied.

Luckily, Shane had made a reservation, and they were led to the second floor by the server.

"Shane? You two are eating here?" Miles Sterling appeared unexpectedly and called after Shane.

Turning around with Audrey, she realized Vanessa Sterling was also there.

Miles hadn’t reserved a table, and no tables were available, so they joined them.

Although their private time was interrupted, eating with her admired idol was satisfying enough.

However, Vanessa wasn’t quite as she imagined, seeming rather shy and stayed quiet beside Miles, her head down the entire time.

Miles engaged in conversation with Shane, whereas Audrey stole several glances at Vanessa before proactively starting a conversation, "Hylan, are you still in school?"

Vanessa, seemingly unprepared to be addressed, looked up at Audrey, then shook her head and softly replied, "No."

"Then... are you going to the camping event the website is hosting next month?"

Vanessa didn’t answer immediately; instead, she glanced cautiously at Miles, as if seeking his approval.

While chatting with Shane, Miles distractedly told Vanessa, "Go if you want to."

Audrey’s first thought was that Miles, as Vanessa’s brother, seemed overly controlling.

Yet, it wasn’t her place to interfere in sibling matters.

Whether it was due to Miles’ presence, Vanessa spoke cautiously, her voice soft, and she seemed somewhat apprehensive.

Audrey recalled that, although they hadn’t exchanged many words after the signing, Vanessa hadn’t seemed so restrained.

After dinner, it was already past seven when they left the restaurant.

Watching Miles drive off with Vanessa, Audrey curiously asked Shane, "Are they really siblings?"

Shane opened the car door, motioning for Audrey to get in quickly, and only replied, "Mind your own business."

The car door was open, but Audrey hesitated to get in. Seeing the drinks store nearby, she quickly but quietly said, "I want to buy some milk tea."

Shane furrowed his brow, understood, yet deliberately asked, "What do you want to do?"

"Buy milk tea."

"Didn’t you have enough at lunch?"

Realizing he was about to start a reckoning, Audrey promptly, and tactfully, got in the car with General.
