Chapter 661: Chapter 661: Stubborn as a Dead Duck

In the couple’s suite at the dimly lit Riverview Hotel on a snowy night, a girl in a black bodysuit was sitting on the edge of the bed, putting on lace stockings.

From the bathroom nearby came the sound of rushing water, and the silhouette of a robust man was faintly visible.

"Ding ding ding..."

The phone’s ringtone sounded from the man’s coat by the bed. The woman stopped putting on her stockings, reached into the coat pocket to take out the phone, glanced at the unsaved contact number on it, and walked to the bathroom door, knocking. "Brother Faye, someone’s calling you."

Faye Xavier turned off the tap, walked to the door, and reached out to take the phone. After taking a look, he roughly guessed who it was and answered, "Hello."

As expected, Clarissa Morgan’s voice came from the other end, "It’s me."

Faye: "I guessed."

Clarissa: "What about the thing you promised me?"

Faye chuckled and said, "She didn’t take my car last night. Her brother picked her up halfway, completely messing up my plan."

Clarissa coldly asked, "Are you playing me?"

Faye: "What good does playing you do to me? If you don’t even have that much trust, Miss Morgan may not want to cooperate with me."

Clarissa didn’t want to speak too harshly but maintained a skeptical attitude towards Faye, saying, "Shane will be back soon, in the next couple of days. If you don’t act quickly, it’ll be hard to find an opportunity once he’s back."

Faye readily agreed, "Don’t worry, Miss Morgan. I’ll handle it tomorrow. Rest easy and you’ll wake up to good news."

Faye smiled meaningfully and hung up the phone.

He put down the phone, casually wrapped himself in a bathrobe, and entwined once again with the woman outside the room...

The next day.

Audrey Sutton opened her eyes to some good news.

The airport had reopened, and Shane Warner managed to book the earliest flight, but counting the journey, he wouldn’t arrive until the following midday.

They hadn’t been apart long, but to Audrey, these days felt like half a year had passed.

With nothing to do during the day, she asked Six, who was equally idle, to drive her back to the marital home. She also had Six help tidy the house, dusting and mopping.

Though Norman Sutton complained the entire time, seeing Audrey’s slightly protruding belly, he dared not disobey.

He feared a repeat of the past tragedy.

Audrey went for a walk in the garden outside. Many flowers had died from the frost; they’d have to be replanted when spring came.

The swing was also covered in snow, showing rust from the wind and sun.

Feeling the bleakness for a moment, Audrey sighed under the gallery, deciding that she’d rearrange the garden when the weather got warmer.

Returning to the room, Norman was wiping down the staircase railing with a cloth.

He seemed absent-minded, wiping without focus.

Standing at the bottom of the stairs, Audrey looked up at him and teased, "Who are you thinking about?"

Norman snapped out of it and gave Audrey an eye roll.

Audrey smiled, giving him a once-over, and said, "Thinking about Lana, perhaps?"

At that, Norman’s eyes widened, and he didn’t even think before mockingly denying, "Am I thinking about her? What’s wrong with my brain? Are you nuts?"

Audrey: "You’ve always had something wrong with your head, liking someone yet not saying anything, and..."

"Who the hell likes her?!" Norman vehemently denied, "I’d have to be blind to fall for her! Even if there were no women left in the world, I wouldn’t pick her!"

Audrey shook her head helplessly, "Tsk tsk, stubborn like a dead duck."

Norman: "If you’re so bored, then help clean!"

Audrey immediately groaned, supporting her back with her hands as she walked towards the living room sofa, "Oh, my back is sore; I need a rest."

Norman rolled his eyes again at her as she sat on the sofa playing on her phone, wishing he could throw the cloth at her forehead.

But at least his ears were in peace.

Just hearing Hélène Lane’s name made him furious.

Two peas in a pod find each other; she and that lousy senior truly are a match.

Hmph, two exceedingly mediocre people.

Audrey sat on the sofa, turned on the TV, and then checked the 99+ messages in the dormitory group’s chat. The topic starter was Seraphina Vaughn, sharing a gossip news story.

The news headline was: Clarissa Morgan and Second Young Master Sterling have been divorced for months.

Before Audrey could read her sisters’ comments, she immediately opened X.

Indeed, the topic #ClarissaMorganDivorce# was in the top three hottest searches.

After starring in a drama with Simon Sue, Clarissa captured many fans with her achievements in ballet and her persona as a devoted wife flaunting love with Quentin Sterling.

Fans once dubbed it a perfect life and heavenly romance.

Now that the divorce news had broken, it wasn’t surprising that it sparked heated discussion.

The scoop mentioned the couple had been divorced for quite some time, leading some people to speculate that during those moments on programs where Clarissa flaunted their love, they had already split.

Her persona naturally crumbled, with many comments saying they turned from fans to haters, though some remained rational, considering it a possible rumor and waiting for Sister Morgan’s response.

Although Audrey had been waiting for this moment, she didn’t expect the news to get exposed so suddenly.

She was quite puzzled about who had revealed such information.

Could it be that the paparazzi, having discovered hints while staking out, exposed the matter?

Checking Clarissa Morgan’s X, there were no movements.

The latest update was a Christmas blessing sent to fans yesterday.

Returning to the group chat, she saw that they were still discussing Clarissa’s issue. So, Audrey chipped in, asking, "Brother Seraphina, weren’t you supposed to go on a blind date today?"

Flora Lane also remembered, "Oh right, I forgot. Why are you still here gossiping with us?"

Seraphina Vaughn sent a voice message, asking, "Do you know who my blind date is?"

Audrey: "Who? Someone we know?"

Seraphina Vaughn: "That man with the surname Qian."

Barry Barrett exclaimed, "Clarissa Morgan’s ex-husband?! No way, how could your family introduce you to a second-hand man?"

Seraphina Vaughn corrected, "Miles Sterling."

Flora Lane: "Damn."

Audrey: "This... Who introduced you to him? They have bad intentions!"

Seraphina Vaughn: "My mom said it was one of her card-playing friends who recommended it and pestered her several times. My mom was annoyed, so she told me to just deal with it. I only found out it was that kid yesterday."

Audrey: "Are you going to go?"

Seraphina Vaughn: "Go my ass, I looked for Jasmine Lucas. Didn’t you guys have some plan happening? So I coordinated with her to impersonate me, and she agreed readily. It’s just that I don’t know what’s happening now."

Flora Lane: "Anyone marrying that guy is doomed, a 100% domestic violence man."

Seraphina Vaughn: "I can’t understand these people. My mom doesn’t urge me to marry, so why are they meddling in my affairs? And introducing such trash to me, it’s disgusting."
