Chapter 649: Chapter 649: Going Out for the Holiday

Faye Xavier pulled out the ringing phone from her pocket, curled her lips and said loudly, "Oh, who could this be? Jesse?"

Hearing this name, Jasmine Lucas felt even more agitated. As she hesitated between opening and not opening the door, she heard Faye Xavier from outside: "Who is it? Jaz has already gone to sleep."

"Who am I? I’m her boyfriend."

Upon hearing this, Jasmine couldn’t hold back any longer and immediately flung open the door, rushing over to grab the phone from Faye’s hand: "Jesse, what’s up so late?"

Faye leaned casually against the wall, listening to Jasmine nervously explaining to the person on the other end: "No, he’s just a colleague from work. I’m out dining, he likes to prank."

"Hmm, okay, I’ll come find you tomorrow and talk face to face then."

Just after Jasmine hung up, she was suddenly enveloped by a force.

Faye effortlessly lifted her, kicked the door open, and tossed Jasmine onto the bed.

Before a dizzy Jasmine could get up from the bed, Faye pressed down on her.

Knowing she couldn’t match Faye in strength, Jasmine didn’t struggle while lying down. Instead, she looked at Faye with an odd smile, which left Faye puzzled.

"Why aren’t you yelling anymore?"

Jasmine laughed and said, "No one’s a saint here; let’s just play. Who’s afraid to play?"

Faye thought this was Jasmine’s true feeling until he reached under her pants and felt something unusual, realizing this woman really wasn’t up for playing.

Feeling uninterested, he stood up: "I’m not in the mood to touch you. This is the last warning, do this again, and I will sew your mouth shut, stitch by stitch, to stop you from spewing nonsense everywhere."

After finishing, Faye tossed the phone back to Jasmine, turned to the door but then turned back and said: "Oh, and don’t plan on moving; as long as you don’t cause trouble for yourself again, I won’t disturb you. But if you dare mess with your dad, no matter where you move, he’ll find you."

Jasmine silently cursed at Faye’s back, and when she heard Faye truly shut the door and leave, she finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Seems like she had better ask Miss Jennings to assign her a bodyguard next time. Thankfully, this time her period came to her rescue.

The next day.

Audrey Sutton was awakened by the rustling sounds near her ears and opened her eyes to see Phoebe King sitting at the desk, opening drawers one by one, searching for something.

"Sister Phoebe." Audrey rubbed her eyes, sitting up from bed: "What are you looking for?"

Phoebe turned her head and asked, "Is there something to eat?"

Audrey groggily picked up her phone to check the time: "It’s past eight, breakfast should be ready downstairs."

Phoebe: "He’s on holiday today, definitely downstairs. He usually calls me to get up, but he didn’t today. I don’t want to see him."

Only then did she remember the two argued yesterday. Audrey understood and smiled, saying, "I’ll go check."

"Hmm, if he asks about me, say I’m still asleep. Don’t let him come up to find me; I want him to come by himself."

Audrey sighed with a smile, shaking her head: "You two are like kids throwing tantrums."

Phoebe: "Hmph, I can’t always be the one comforting him, he’s spoiled!"

Audrey put on her coat and went downstairs, seeing Stephen Sutton sitting alone on the living room sofa, reading a newspaper.

"Big bro, morning." Audrey proactively greeted.

Stephen looked up from the newspaper, glanced at Audrey, and then looked past her, probably thinking Phoebe would come down with her.

Though Phoebe had reminded not to give Stephen any hints, as her elder brother, she couldn’t just stand by and watch. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖

Besides, she’s been through similar things with Shane Warner, understanding sometimes men’s minds just don’t work the same as women’s.

So Audrey whispered to Stephen, "Why don’t you go up and check on Sister Phoebe?"

Stephen’s eyes narrowed slightly under his glasses, and then he casually returned to reading: "What’s up with her?"

Audrey frowned: "Are you pretending or genuinely clueless? Sister Phoebe’s mad at you! Just leaving her be?"

Stephen: "She started the drama."

Audrey: "Do you want to argue or have a wife? Sister Phoebe said she’s hungry; bring up breakfast and say something nice to cheer her up."

Stephen: "Bring it up personally? Can’t she come down herself?"

Audrey, though not directly involved, felt a bit annoyed, stood up, and said: "Why are you guys all like this? Is face more important than your wife?! I don’t even want to talk to you!"

Saying this, Audrey stood up angrily, went to the kitchen, got two breakfasts, and brought them upstairs for Phoebe.

Stephen indeed remained calm and didn’t go upstairs to find Phoebe.

Originally, they planned to go out together for the celebration today, but now with this mess, Phoebe didn’t feel like celebrating with Stephen, and instead planned to go out with Audrey and Faye later.

Though initially set for the afternoon, Phoebe didn’t want to stay any longer, so Audrey contacted Faye to pick them up after ten that morning.

As they headed downstairs, Phoebe didn’t look at Stephen at all, clinging to Audrey while smiling and chatting towards the door.

Stephen frowned as he watched the two women changing shoes by the door, asking, "Where are you going?"

Phoebe kept her head turned, not intending to respond to Stephen at all.

Audrey, unhappy with her brother’s attitude, replied grumpily: "Out for the festival."

Phoebe urged by the door: "Hurry up, Audrey."

Faye’s car was parked outside; Audrey donned her shoes and left with Phoebe under the umbrella, chatting and laughing.

Stephen stood at the door with a worried face, watching their backs as if wanting to say something, but in the end, not uttering a word.

Audrey felt her elder brother wasn’t as good as her second brother; her second brother may be low on EQ, but at least he listens to advice and knows to cheer up his wife when she’s mad.

As Phoebe left, she intentionally smiled, but turned pensive once in the car.

Audrey could deeply relate to Sister Phoebe’s feelings; so long as that knot remained, the heart couldn’t truly be at ease.

She herself also went through plenty of silent treatments with Shane Warner before, though now Shane’s personality has improved considerably, and they don’t seem to have arguments anymore.

The car was halfway when Audrey remembered Shane Warner mentioning to have Faye and Luc accompany her. Now, with only Faye in the car, Audrey asked, "Brother Xavier, where’s Luc?"

Faye: "Probably still asleep; once he wakes, he’ll drive over."

Audrey: "Sorry, Brother Xavier, for disturbing your rest."

Faye: "Sister-in-law, why the politeness? Besides, accompanying you is also fun, not tiring. So play to your heart’s content, I ensure you’ll return safe and sound."
