Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 635: Doctor Auntie
"Would number 68, Brandon Spencer, please proceed to Room 5 for your consultation."
Over the speaker, an official, mechanical female voice announced number 68. Hannah Sue once again pulled out her small ticket and checked the number on it: 70.
With just two or three people ahead of her, Hannah Sue could hardly sit still. She turned off her phone game, shoved her hands in her pockets, and stood up to head over to Room 5’s door, peering through the glass door to catch a glimpse inside.
Inside, Evan Sutton was wearing a stethoscope, listening to the chest of a little girl being held by her mother, who seemed to be only two or three years old.
Unlike most kids who cry and fuss upon visiting the hospital, especially when they see doctors in white coats,
the little girl stared blankly at Evan Sutton with her big, black eyes wide open and her mouth slightly agape.
Just like Hannah Sue, who was standing outside the glass door now, her mind wandering to the moment when Evan Sutton would reach out to listen to her heart...
"Miss, are you waiting for someone? You might want to take a seat in the hall over there." A passing nurse called out to Hannah Sue, interrupting her daydreaming.
Hannah Sue awkwardly froze, quickly closed her mouth, and swallowed the drool that was about to escape, responding with a dry laugh, "No... no, I’m about to be called."
The nurse gave Hannah Sue a slightly puzzled look, but said nothing more as she took some medical equipment in hand and pushed the door open, closing it behind her.
At that moment, Hannah Sue suddenly envied the nurse for becoming Evan Sutton’s right hand, working beside him every day...
It was as if her mind had already set a future path since her senior year of high school.
Although she couldn’t hear any sound from inside through the glass door, she could clearly see Evan Sutton gently patting the little girl’s head with a soft look and a faint smile as he spoke to the child’s mother. He then picked up a pen and smoothly jotted something on a form.
Watching as the mother stood up with her child, while outside they called yet again for number 69, Hannah Sue remained sneakily leaning against the wall, observing the nurse come out with something in her hand, giving Hannah another curious look.
Heading down the corridor, a female doctor in high heels approached. The nurse turned to see the doctor and greeted her with a smile, "Dr. Porter? What brings you here?"
Catherine Porter glanced into the examination room, smiling as she replied, "Oh, I’m here to see Director Sutton briefly. Go ahead with whatever you’re doing."
With an understanding expression, the nurse nodded and walked away with the materials in hand.
Hannah Sue watched as Catherine Porter pushed open the glass door and walked in, the door automatically closing slowly behind her.
Upon seeing Catherine Porter approach, Evan Sutton turned to face her, swiveling slightly in his chair. Hannah couldn’t see Evan’s expression.
Evaluating Catherine Porter, Hannah mused that although the hospital’s uniforms were standard and she wasn’t particularly flamboyant, her appearance was fairly attractive, exuding a mature, intellectual beauty. Still, Hannah felt a sense of unease looking at Catherine, instinctively sensing she was no good.
"Director Sutton, I’ve come to you several times. Have you considered what I’ve mentioned?" Catherine Porter sat down and spoke as if they were merely discussing work.
Flipping through the medical records, Evan Sutton nonchalantly replied, "Do you think you can threaten me?"
Catherine’s smile stiffened slightly, then she elegantly crossed her legs and continued smiling, "So you aren’t afraid of your sister finding out about your sordid thoughts? Or are you not worried about your sister and her unborn child? Then again, the child isn’t yours. Maybe if she lost the child, you’d secretly be pleased."
Evan Sutton: "Do you think you could harm her?"
Catherine: "Perhaps not easily, but it’s not hard to let her know you have feelings for her."
Evan Sutton: "So what? Make her hate me? Sever ties with the Sutton family? Fine, I’ll drag you down to hell with me, then no one can threaten her again, right?"
Watching Evan Sutton nonchalantly reveal his darkest plan, Catherine Porter was unsure whether he was serious or simply trying to scare her. If Evan truly didn’t care about Audrey Sutton finding out, she’d lose her leverage...
Thinking of this, Catherine’s smile wavered slightly.
Standing outside, Hannah Sue couldn’t hear their conversation but felt displeased watching the man and woman alone together.
They called number 69 again over the speaker, but still, no one showed up.
A few seconds later, the speaker announced number 70.
Upon hearing her number, Hannah Sue immediately pushed open the door and went inside.
Catherine Porter and Evan Sutton both turned their gazes toward Hannah Sue.
Catherine examined Hannah Sue with a puzzled expression, figuring this girl didn’t look old enough to work and wasn’t wearing a uniform. If she was a patient, she might be a bit too old for pediatrics.
Evan’s already furrowed brow knitted even tighter upon seeing Hannah Sue.
Hannah Sue approached, glanced at the chair Catherine Porter was seated in, and flashed an innocent, polite smile at Catherine: "Excuse me, Doctor Auntie, are you here to see Dr. Sutton? If you are, you’ll need to fetch a number and wait in line outside, internal privilege or not. I’ve been waiting a long time."
Catherine’s corner of the mouth twitched involuntarily; though nearing thirty, being called "Auntie" by a teenage girl was disheartening.
Remaining polite as a patient, Catherine simply smiled and said, "I’m not here for a consultation. I just needed to talk to Dr. Sutton, and this is pediatrics."
Feigning an exaggeratedly confused look, Hannah Sue asked, "If you’re not here for a consultation, why are you taking this seat? It’s a huge waste of time for others! There’s a long line outside! Aren’t you also a doctor here? Shouldn’t you be working instead of interrupting others, wasting both Dr. Sutton’s time as well as the patient’s consultation time? Do you want me to report you?"
Catherine: "..."
Continuing, Hannah Sue used her foot to nudge the wooden leg of Catherine’s chair, saying, "Move! How can Dr. Sutton examine me with you sitting there?!"
"Sorry," Catherine reluctantly conceded, not wanting to stir up trouble with a kid, acknowledging the tense doctor-patient dynamics. Even if Hannah was rude, she had to swallow her pride and stood up, telling Evan Sutton, "Director Sutton, let’s talk later."
Evan Sutton paid no attention to Catherine Porter, his face unchanged after her departure, knowing the one remaining wasn’t easy to deal with either: "How did you find me?" 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
The tone was just as cold as that night.
