Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 571: If Only Big Cousin Were Still Here
The next morning, Audrey Sutton was awakened by the sound of the TV from downstairs shortly after six, knowing it was undoubtedly Heath Holloway, that rude brat, causing the noise.
Although Shane Warner soon went downstairs to reprimand him and turned down the volume, Audrey Sutton thought to herself that if Heath Holloway were to live with them in the future, it would be irritating and she couldn’t fall back asleep.
It was cold, and unable to sleep, Audrey still curled up in bed, unwilling to get up.
After Shane Warner finished his workout, he returned to the bedroom to shower. Seeing Audrey’s eyes open, looking at him, Shane Warner softly asked, "Did I wake you up?"
Audrey pouted and asked, "Is he going to live here in the future?"
Shane shook his head, "He’ll leave in a while. He’s been mischievous since he was young. If I let him stay here, I’m afraid he might influence you badly."
Audrey: "But he’s so disobedient. Are you really going to take him to the company? Aren’t you afraid he’ll cause trouble for you?"
Shane took clothes from the wardrobe to change into, turned to Audrey with a smile, and said, "If I dare to bring you to the company, what wouldn’t I dare with him."
Hearing Shane comparing herself to Heath, Audrey immediately frowned, "How am I as clueless as he is? Plus, I haven’t caused you trouble; I even helped you catch a nest of pests! Besides, I’m your wife; how can he compare to me?"
Just as Audrey finished speaking, Heath’s voice came from outside the room, shouting upstairs, "Cousin? Cousin?!" 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
Shane furrowed his brows, opened the door, and stood by it to ask, "Who let you come up?"
Heath said cheerfully, "Cousin, when are we leaving?"
Shane: "I’ll call you when we leave. Wait downstairs."
Standing by the door, Heath didn’t leave and hesitantly said, "Cousin, I’m hungry. Can you give me some change to buy breakfast?"
Shane glanced at Heath’s hand stretched out in front of him and coldly said, "Stay hungry."
Then with a "bang," he shut the door.
Audrey sat on the bed and sighed, thinking about what they would do if their son turned out like that in the future. It’s too worrisome.
After breakfast, Shane took Heath out the door, and Audrey waited for the laundry to finish so she could hang up the clothes. Just then Phoebe King drove over to meet her.
She wasn’t here to play Mahjong but to look at houses in the area.
She said a friend had informed her that there were houses for sale here, so she was eager to come check them out.
At the company.
Shane only handed Heath over to the HR department manager and didn’t bother with him anymore.
It so happened that the finance department had a major shuffle recently and was short of staff. Heath had studied finance, so this job suited him to some extent.
The position arranged was just the lowest level employee in the finance department, still an intern, and Heath was given no special privileges.
Though Heath was arrogant and domineering outside under Shane Warner’s name, he was as meek as a lamb once inside the company. However, he was overly slick and in less than a day, started flirting with the girls in the department or sucking up to the bosses.
It’s assumed Shane Warner had instructed the bosses to properly discipline Heath, so they didn’t cut him any slack. He received his fair share of scoldings and assignments.
Having never experienced the hardships of the workplace, Heath couldn’t adapt to such an environment, and by mid-morning, he was already getting impatient.
By chance, he saw Vincent Warner pass by the department, Heath quickly got up and chased after him, calling out quietly to Vincent’s retreating figure, "Second Brother Warner!"
Vincent paused his conversation with his subordinate, turned around to see Heath, smiled, then leaned down to say a few words to his associate, who then walked away with some documents.
"Started working?" Vincent asked with a smile.
Heath nodded, "Came in the morning with my cousin."
Vincent led him to a quieter corner with fewer people around and asked, "Getting used to it?"
Heath frowned and complained, "Not at all, they’re too strict, I feel like I can’t breathe."
Vincent chuckled, "That’s because you were too lazy before."
Heath: "Second Brother Warner, could you arrange an easier job for me? Or make me a team leader, so I can boss people around."
Vincent: "I assume the job you have now was arranged by your cousin. He has his own plans, so I can’t interfere with that."
Heath sighed in disappointment, muttering, "I thought he’d make me a deputy general manager or something, but turns out it’s just this."
Vincent couldn’t help but laugh, "You’re here to learn, not enjoy. Listen to your cousin, work hard, and you’ll gain something."
Seeing no hope for a promotion, Heath asked, "Then, Second Brother... could you lend me some money again? I just started working, and payday is far off. I don’t even have a hundred bucks in my pocket. How am I supposed to live like this?"
Originally, Heath thought Vincent would easily transfer him twenty thousand bucks again as last time, but he was surprised when Vincent said, "Your cousin specifically told me not to give you money carelessly. So this month, you’ll have to endure a bit, wait until next month’s payday."
Heath furrowed his brows, "You count as his brother too, why listen to him? Just because he told you not to give doesn’t mean you shouldn’t? When Big Cousin was around, he wouldn’t have been like this; he was so kind to me. Ah, if only Big Cousin were still here, he surely wouldn’t be this harsh."
Vincent’s smile froze a bit, and he took a deep breath, "Don’t mention this to your cousin."
Heath nodded, "I know, I’m not stupid."
Vincent spoke in a fatherly tone, "Alright, go back to work. I’ll take you out for lunch."
Hearing this, Heath nodded happily and hesitantly added, "Second Brother, could you give me a cigarette? I’m out."
Vincent shook his head with a helpless smile, pulling a pack of cigarettes from his pocket, "Barely smoked, you can take it."
Heath was finally satisfied, taking the cigarette pack and turning away, "Thanks, Second Brother!"
Watching Heath’s back, Vincent reminded worriedly, "Smoke less."
Heath and Sean Warner always had a good relationship, and when Sean and Vincent Warner went to university, Heath was in the nearby junior high school. His parents were busy with work and had little time for him, so they let Heath board at the school.
Heath was mischievous; starting from kindergarten, he loved causing trouble at school, and during junior high, he often got into trouble, with Sean Warner cleaning up his messes several times.
Asking Vincent for pocket money wasn’t something new; it had been a regular thing for him.
Although Heath seldom listened to his parents, he held these older brothers in high regard.
Probably because of the lack of parental accompaniment since childhood, it resulted in Heath’s rebellious personality.
