Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 563: Scott Sutton Loves His Sister
In a quiet corner of the street, a small music bar had a few scattered groups of young people sitting around.
"Catherine! You finally made it. Look at how drunk Brother Ivan is!"
Catherine Porter looked at Ivan Yardley, who was slumped over the table, unconscious. She sighed softly and said to the young man beside Ivan, "I’ll go settle the bill first. Help me get him to the car in a bit."
"Alright."
Twenty minutes later.
Catherine Porter managed, with considerable effort, to get Ivan Yardley onto the sofa.
He kept muttering incoherently, calling out to her, "Lan."
These days, Catherine Porter was used to all of this. She turned around, picked up a teacup from the table, brewed a strong cup of tea, and brought it to Ivan, "Get up and drink this. Sober up a bit. I have something to discuss with you."
Ivan Yardley looked at her dimly. Catherine Porter helped him up from the sofa and served him the sobering tea.
"Is your head any clearer now?"
Ivan Yardley’s clothes were slightly disheveled. He lay back on the sofa in frustration, silent for a moment as if regaining his thoughts. Then he looked at Catherine Porter and asked, "Why are you here?"
Catherine Porter sat on the sofa opposite Ivan Yardley, her expression calm. "Look at what you’ve become. And you still want to avenge my sister? At this rate, you’ll be joining my sister before you even get the chance."
Ivan Yardley sneered, "Avenge her? Sounds nice. You’ve been working at the hospital for so long, and I’ve yet to see any fireworks. I thought you were finally settling down."
Catherine Porter said, "Things need to be planned. Acting rashly will only alert the enemy. Today, I discovered a secret. I think we can use this to infiltrate The Suttons."
Ivan Yardley raised an eyebrow, sitting slightly up from the sofa and asked, "What secret?"
Catherine Porter chuckled, "It’s something interesting. Evan Sutton likes his sister."
Ivan Yardley asked, "Audrey Sutton?"
Catherine Porter nodded, "We can use this..."
...
Under the moonlight, Evan Sutton was standing on the second-floor terrace in pajamas, feeling the cold night breeze as he looked up at the bright moon.
"Meow~" The family’s fourth cat mewed affectionately at his leg, then flopped over onto his feet, comfortably grooming itself.
Just back from the bar, Scott Sutton followed the sound of the cat and was slightly surprised to see Evan standing alone on the terrace. "Luna, still not asleep so late?"
Evan turned to glance at Scott, "Fourth Brother."
Scott walked over to stand beside him and asked, "Got something on your mind? You don’t smoke or drink, so what do you do to relieve your worries? Tell me, maybe I can help."
Evan smiled, his voice gentler than the moonlit night. "No worries, really. After a long day at work, I just wanted some fresh air. Didn’t feel like sleeping early."
Scott said, "I happened to finish work early today. How about I open a bottle of red wine, and we brothers have a couple of drinks?"
Evan paused, smiled, and nodded.
Scott said, "I’ll get the wine. Why don’t you call Second Brother and ask when he’ll be home so he can bring some barbecue."
Evan said, "Second Brother probably shouldn’t be drinking, should he?"
Scott turned back with a smile, "Just having him buy the barbecue, not drink with us. He can watch us drink."
About ten minutes later, the three brothers sat on the terrace, eating and drinking.
Franklin Sutton, under work pressure lately, even broke the rules and joined them for drinks.
Scott laughed, "I remember when we were young; Second Brother was only about fourteen or fifteen. He took me and our little sister to the wine cellar to steal some red wine. Our little sister thought it was juice, took a big gulp, and complained it stung her throat. She cried to Mom, and then we got chewed out. I remember Dad saying, ’If you’re going to drink, fine, but Audrey’s only five. How can you be such brothers?’ That was the first time I felt Dad was biased because I was only about ten. It’s one thing to scold Second Brother, but why blame me?"
Franklin said, "That little girl insisted on joining us. If we didn’t let her drink, she cried, and after drinking, she tattled. If it were Norman doing this, I’d have surely taught him a lesson."
Evan laughed, "No wonder Mom and Dad never let her drink after that."
Scott added, "She doesn’t drink at home, but after I opened the bar, she often brought her friends to support my business. I always had the staff make her fruit wine, which she enjoyed."
Franklin sighed, "Since she got married, this house has felt really emptier."
Hearing about Audrey Sutton’s marriage, Evan’s eyes darkened slightly. He raised his glass and took a sip. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Scott said, "Yes, having a sister is different. I remember when I was in elementary school; Mom would pick me up with her after school. I’d see her toddling unsteadily towards me, arms stretched, mumbling, ’Fourth Brother, hug,’ and my heart melted. Later, even in middle and high school, my classmates envied me for having such a sister, which felt really satisfying."
Franklin said, "It’s no surprise she was closest to Evan. They’re about the same age, and Evan was always so mature and patient. During school, if anything happened to Audrey in her class, she’d go find Evan."
Evan, reminiscing about that time, smiled faintly, "When she first started elementary school, she wasn’t familiar with the new environment, crying and running to find me in my class, confusing my teacher. So I’d comfort her for a while and personally take her back to her classroom. It lasted about a week until she made friends and adapted slowly."
Franklin said, "Back then, the real reason our big brother became a teacher was mostly because of Audrey. He worried she might get bullied at school. As a teacher, he could rightly deal with any boys bothering her."
Scott, swirling the wine in his glass, laughed, "Big Brother had the heart of an old father. Ever since Little Sister was born, he’s been restless. As her teacher, he was even more on edge, as if he wanted to keep an eye on her 24/7, afraid she’d get bullied the moment he blinked."
Suddenly, a voice not belonging to the three interrupted, "It’s good she didn’t bully others!"
Norman Sutton, wearing a fluffy tiger-print onesie, walked over, "My dear brothers, it’s rare for you all to gather, why keep talking about that brat? And, having a barbecue, how could you not invite me! Not cool at all."
As he spoke, Norman casually pulled out an empty chair, sat down, picked up a skewer, and started eating. "You guys not only have a sister but also a brother, you should care a little about lonely old me who gets no love from our parents!"
