Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 331: The Car Accident Years Ago
Audrey Sutton still remembers when Nolan Hawke sent her similar messages, saying Shane Warner had killed someone.
Could he be referring to this incident?
These photos are most likely sent by Nolan Hawke, right?
Audrey Sutton thinks Nolan Hawke is quite likely to do something like this.
Audrey Sutton shoved the photos back into the envelope and casually tossed it into the drawer under the desk.
Although she trusts Shane Warner, she is still quite curious about what really happened back then.
Was it Vincent Warner’s scheme, or was it merely an accident?
Speaking of which, Vincent Warner and Chloe Swift haven’t been up to much lately; she wonders if their relationship has improved.
Stephen Sutton finished his two morning classes and went straight home, still concerned about the condition of his sister.
"Knock knock—"
Upon hearing the knock, Audrey Sutton set down her paintbrush and got up to open the door, "Big Brother?"
Stephen Sutton looked down at her injured arm, hidden by her sleeve. The white chiffon sleeve faintly revealed the bandages wrapped around her arm. Stephen Sutton asked, "Is your hand better?"
Audrey Sutton nodded: "I just went to the hospital to change the dressing."
Stephen Sutton: "Where’s Shane?"
Audrey Sutton: "He’s awake, but his spirits aren’t very good. Just now, Evan said his appetite was also not great; he only had a few sips of porridge."
"As long as he’s okay, he’ll get better slowly."
Audrey Sutton nodded, thinking about what she had read earlier regarding Sean Warner. She recalled that last time Shane Warner took her abroad, they met that couple, and at that time, it was mentioned that her big brother and Sean Warner were friends.
"Big Brother, there’s something I want to ask you."
Stephen Sutton nodded once: "Go ahead."
Audrey Sutton pursed her lips, pondered for a moment, and then asked: "I heard that you knew Shane’s brother before?"
Stephen Sutton didn’t hide anything, nodded "Mhm" and said: "Sean, Vincent, and I were classmates in high school."
Before Audrey Sutton could ask anything else, Stephen Sutton said: "You want to ask about Sean’s car accident back then, right?"
Audrey Sutton nodded honestly: "I’ve heard outside that... it wasn’t an accident, Shane also thinks so."
Stephen Sutton: "The incident happened on the day of the university graduation party. I don’t know the specifics, but there have always been rumors that Vincent orchestrated it. I believe in Vincent; he wouldn’t do that, besides Shane has always had a good relationship with him, and he was very upset after Sean’s accident."
Audrey Sutton silently contemplated; hearing others say Vincent is a good person might leave some doubt in her mind, but hearing her big brother say it reassures her about Vincent’s character.
Stephen Sutton: "But Shane has a reason to suspect Vincent too. After Sean graduated, Old Master Warner was planning to let him gradually take over The Warner. An incident like this happening at such a critical juncture makes those rumors unsurprising. However, even if it was planned, I believe it couldn’t have been Vincent. He’s actually been living quite miserably, especially since Sean passed."
Stephen Sutton trusts Vincent Warner, and Audrey Sutton also trusts Shane Warner. She feels that even though there is much drama in wealthy families, there’s no need to think everyone is so dark-hearted. Perhaps it was just an accident?
"The accident was only briefly investigated, and the incident was promptly reported as a traffic accident. That makes me think there’s something odd about it. Considering Sean Warner’s status, as soon as he was about to become the heir of The Warner, an incident like this happening would surely lead The Warner to spend significant time investigating the cause of the accident. But something happened at night, and by the next morning, the newspapers concluded the case. I wonder if there were internal considerations in their family; it feels strange, but it’s been so many years since the incident, why did you suddenly bring this up?"
Audrey Sutton smiled and replied: "Just suddenly thought of it, and asked casually."
Stephen Sutton affectionately laughed: "It’s almost time for dinner; tidy up and come down."
"Okay."
Audrey Sutton wondered if there might be a third possibility.
Sean Warner indeed did not die from an accident, but the person who planned it all was neither Vincent Warner nor Shane Warner, but someone else?
Out of curiosity, she really wants to understand the doubts involved.
If Vincent Warner has been misunderstood by Shane all along, then when the truth is revealed, their brotherly relationship may slightly improve.
After all, they are family, and seeing each other every day at the company, it’s not ideal to remain adversaries. Moreover, if the misunderstanding is cleared, and they join forces, the Warner Group would certainly develop better.
Only Audrey Sutton feels that her abilities are limited, and figuring out these matters is surely not an easy task.
...
The next day, Audrey Sutton returned to school for classes and planned to visit Shane Warner during the lunch break.
After finally making it through the morning classes, Audrey Sutton didn’t have lunch. When the family driver came to pick her up, she first went to the hospital, wanting to see Shane Warner first.
Unexpectedly, the hospital staff told her that someone had visited Shane Warner today, and she would have to wait till tomorrow.
Audrey Sutton was puzzled; Shane Warner’s parents were still abroad and probably unaware of Shane’s condition, so who came to see him?
Clarissa Morgan?
Thinking of this, Audrey Sutton asked the staff: "Could you tell me who came to see him?"
"Let me check the registration for you. I’m only doing this because I see you’re the wife of the Third Young Master; normally, we can’t divulge this kind of information, as it is part of the patient’s privacy."
Audrey Sutton then said: "Just tell me if it was a man or a woman."
The staff paused and thought for a moment, then answered: "A man, tall, wearing a suit, with somewhat blond hair, like someone from TV."
From this description, Audrey Sutton thought of Faye Xavier and relaxed a bit: "I know who it is, thank you."
She had almost forgotten that Shane Warner has a few good brothers.
Though realizing it’s not Clarissa Morgan eased her concerns, Faye Xavier really has bad timing; she was looking forward to seeing Shane Warner during that half hour window today, but Faye Xavier came and took her turn, making it impossible for her to meet Shane Warner again today.
However, Audrey Sutton went and asked Shane Warner’s attending physician, who said: "The Third Young Master is much better today, mentally clearer, able to communicate and interact normally, and his appetite has improved greatly. At this rate, he can be moved to a regular ward by tomorrow or the day after."
The next day, Audrey Sutton was supposed to have morning classes but was worried she wouldn’t get to see Shane Warner. So when she woke up, she went to the hospital with Evan Sutton.
The corridor was quiet, and Audrey Sutton unconsciously lightened her steps. As she arrived outside his ward, she saw through the window him staring at the IV bottle hanging on the rail beside his bed. His face looked healthier, and his eyes gleamed with a lively spirit.
