Chapter 311: Chapter 311: I Don’t Like Her

It’s obvious that Clarissa Morgan couldn’t arrange a date with Shane Warner herself, so she used Quentin Sterling to connect them, letting Quentin set up a golf game with Shane.

No matter who arranged it, it ultimately fulfills Clarissa Morgan’s wishes.

Shane brought sportswear and took Audrey Sutton to the locker room to change.

Their clothes were a matching couple’s set, both white.

He’s tall with long legs, has a great figure, and is handsome, looking good no matter what he wears.

But Audrey seldom wears sportswear, so when she came out of the locker room, she felt a bit uncomfortable, worried that she might not look good.

Especially since today she’ll be comparing herself to Clarissa Morgan. Though there’s nothing to say, height is a clear weakness for her; she’s not as tall as Clarissa, and Shane always complains that she’s short.

After coming out of the locker room and looking in the mirror, Audrey thought she looked quite nice. But when it was time to meet Clarissa, she suddenly felt a small pang of self-doubt.

Because Clarissa Morgan seemed more beautiful, having studied ballet for many years, her posture was elegant and exuded an aura from within.

Audrey was wearing white sports trousers, while Clarissa Morgan wore a short skirt that ended at her thighs. Clarissa had the inherent advantage of height, and her outfit made her legs appear even longer and exposed. Regardless of Clarissa Morgan’s character, her appearance was indeed something all women envied—her long legs indeed qualified as beautiful.

As Audrey walked towards Shane with her arm hooked through his, Clarissa Morgan was sitting under the parasol, applying sunscreen to her legs in a seductive manner that few men could likely resist.

Thinking of this, Audrey subconsciously turned to glance at Shane, finding his gaze resting on the staff holding General, and felt a wave of relief.

"Shane, Audrey, let’s head over," Quentin Sterling waved at them, ready to go to the golf course.

Shane nodded, leisurely walked forward, hugging Audrey, and asked her, "Have you played before?"

Audrey shook her head. "I can’t play."

Before she knew Shane Warner, she was pretty much a homebody, going out only to shop or eat with her girlfriends, never arranging outdoor activities like sports.

"I’ll teach you later."

Audrey nodded, looking ahead at Clarissa, feeling a bit weighed down.

Whenever she and Clarissa were together, she always felt they were being compared. Clarissa could play golf, but Audrey had never dabbled in it. Though Shane said he would teach her, Audrey worried that being compared to Clarissa, Shane would find her clumsy.

Sometimes men won’t say anything, but they might compare secretly in their minds.

The weather was great, and Audrey felt great when she arrived, but now she was noticeably less lively than when she just got out of the car, more subdued and silent.

Shane noticed her mood, speaking softly above her head, "We’re just here to enjoy ourselves, can’t you just let it go?"

Audrey looked up at him, pursed her lips and said, "I’m not upset."

"When have you ever seen her without getting upset? Just pretend she’s not there, why sour your mood?"

Seeing Shane being so direct, Audrey stopped pretending and muttered, "I just don’t want to see her; you know I don’t like her. Why did you arrange to meet her?"

Shane replied, "Quentin arranged it. I thought it’s been a while since I took you out, and I hadn’t brought you here to play golf. I wanted you to experience something new."

Audrey murmured quietly, "Watching TV at home is good enough."

"Getting some exercise is also good." Shane took her to the golf course, telling Quentin, "You guys start; I’ll teach her first."

Quentin nodded with a smile, "We’ll warm up first then."

Shane took the golf club from the staff and waved Audrey over, who was standing dazedly nearby, "Come here."

Audrey glanced at him and walked over.

Shane handed her the club, stood behind her, nudged her feet to spread them a bit further apart, then placed his hands over hers, bending slightly to demonstrate how to grip the club, how to swing...

Audrey’s mind was buzzing; she could only feel his body pressed against her back, his warm hands covering her hands, his gentle voice softly explaining the swing, his breath faintly brushing her ear and cheek, causing a blush to gradually spread over her face.

Though they couldn’t be considered an old married couple, they had been sleeping together for quite some time, yet she still felt so inept.

But a blushing reaction was something she couldn’t control; her heart thumped wildly, her mind was a mess able to hear his voice without retaining anything he said.

It wasn’t until Shane led her hand and swung the club, forcefully sending a little white object flying that Audrey snapped back to reality, hearing Shane softly say, "Try swinging on your own, find the feeling."

Audrey: "..."

What had she done just now? What did he say? How was the club supposed to swing?

Shane released her hand and stood beside her, observing her like a coach with a trainee.

Audrey recollected the swing Shane guided her through earlier, and along with what she had seen in television shows, gathering courage to swing, putting all her strength into it, up, down...

Ending the swing with her gaze forward, the lawn empty without sight of the ball flying, perhaps she swung too hard and sent it too quickly?

Until Quentin and Clarissa’s laughter broke the silence, and Audrey looked down to see the ball still firmly sitting on the tee...

Embarrassing.

Audrey could tell Quentin’s laughter was kindly meant, not mocking, but Clarissa’s laughter was sharply cutting. She walked over saying, "Sister, your swing speed is too fast; aim before swinging down. You can’t rely just on strength."

Mind your own damn business.

That was Audrey’s instinctive thought.

Shane walked over, and Audrey thought he might critique her clumsiness, but surprisingly, he neither mocked nor criticized, just patiently explained the technique of the swing again, teaching her step-by-step until Audrey found a rhythm.

Clarissa stood nearby, watching Shane’s gentle and patient instruction with Audrey, gradually retracting her smile, beginning to imagine herself as the girl encircled by Shane’s arms...

"Clarissa."

"Clarissa?"

Quentin came up and tapped Clarissa on the shoulder, bringing her back to reality. She turned to him with a smile, "What is it?"
