Chapter 293: Chapter 293: Stalking

The first day of April.

The sky finally cleared up.

Shane Warner arrived at the airport in the morning, but due to a time conflict with Audrey Sutton’s class, she couldn’t pick him up.

However, they agreed to have lunch together at noon.

The restaurant was chosen by Audrey Sutton, a Korean eatery that had recently opened right across the west gate of the school.

The west gate was relatively far from Audrey Sutton’s dormitory, about a ten-minute walk.

Audrey Sutton finished her class early, and when she messaged Shane Warner, he said he was still in a meeting room.

So when she reached the west gate, Audrey Sutton didn’t go directly to the restaurant but entered an art supplies store next to the west gate.

This art supplies store was considered one of the more well-known shops in Rivia, spreading over three floors with a comprehensive selection of domestic and international brands. It was a must-visit for many art students visiting from out of town.

As long as the store was open, it was always bustling with customers.

While standing in front of a shelf selecting paints, Audrey Sutton glanced at a man in a hoodie and baseball cap standing two to three meters away.

She remembered seeing this person when she first entered the store, looking sneaky as if he wasn’t there to shop.

Audrey Sutton put down the paint in her hand, deliberately turned around, and went upstairs to the second floor, where she saw in the glass reflection from the stairway that the man in the baseball cap followed her.

Her heart skipped a beat, wondering if it was just a coincidence.

Recalling what Flora Lane told her about Clarissa Morgan at the bar that day, Audrey Sutton felt a rush of panic and immediately took out her phone to call Shane Warner, trying to scare off the man tailing her.

But for some reason, Shane Warner didn’t answer the call.

Audrey Sutton swallowed hard and continued to the second floor. Although there were many customers, they were all facing the shelves, choosing products. No one noticed a girl being followed by a "psycho."

Pretending to be calm, she circled several shelves, realizing the man in the baseball cap was still nearby, not choosing any products, and had his hands in his pockets. It was almost certain he was stalking her.

Audrey Sutton wasn’t sure if she just ran into a psycho or if it was part of some plan by Clarissa Morgan.

Facing this situation, she genuinely didn’t know what to do.

She thought since there were cameras everywhere and people around, she would just wait there until Shane Warner called her.

Her heart was pounding rapidly, her eyes scanning the area, hoping to encounter someone she knew.

"The person blown away by the wind said he didn’t love deeply..."

The phone suddenly rang in her hand, startling Audrey Sutton with her own ringtone. She paused for a moment to see the caller ID. It wasn’t Shane Warner calling back, but Faye Xavier.

Audrey Sutton grasped at it like a lifeline and answered the call immediately: "Hello, Brother Xavier?"

"Sis, where are you now?"

"I’m near the school. Is Shane Warner with you? I can’t reach him, and I think I’m being followed. Can you ask him to come to the west gate quickly to pick me up?" Audrey Sutton’s tone was a bit anxious, and she was somewhat incoherent.

Faye Xavier, however, was not too alarmed: "Sis, don’t worry. I’m near the west gate of your school. Where are you?"

Audrey Sutton immediately said, "At the art supplies store next to the west gate."

"Is it called ’Art People’?"

"Yes, yes." Audrey Sutton nodded as she glanced behind her, the man in the cap keeping it low, still following her.

Faye Xavier said, "Then you come out now, I’m just at the entrance of the store."

Hearing this, Audrey Sutton immediately headed downstairs, lowering her voice: "Don’t hang up yet, he’s still following me."

Faye Xavier readily agreed: "Alright, if he follows out, even better. I’ll surely cripple the fool who dares to lust after our little sis-in-law."

Audrey Sutton seemed to faintly hear other people’s laughter from the phone, but she was too panicked to think it through.

Most importantly, she had great trust in Faye Xavier.

Following Faye Xavier’s instructions, Audrey Sutton quickly reached the store’s entrance, and from afar, she saw a black business car parked on the roadside. She had never seen Faye Xavier drive this car, so she wasn’t sure if it was his.

Peering outside the store, she asked Faye Xavier: "Brother Xavier, what car are you driving?"

Faye Xavier didn’t answer directly, instead said, "I see you, just walk straight out."

In her panic, Audrey Sutton rushed out of the store. Hearing the quickened footsteps behind her, she immediately turned her head, only to see the man in the baseball cap chasing straight after her, now less than half a meter away.

"Ah—" Audrey Sutton’s arm was grabbed by the man. She instinctively let out a scream, but before anyone around could notice, a cloth was quickly pressed over her mouth and nose.

She soon lost the strength to struggle...

Two men got out of the business car parked by the roadside and hurriedly helped the man in the cap move Audrey Sutton into the car...

...

Shane Warner came out from the office restroom, picking up the car keys from his desk along with his cellphone.

While walking out of the office, he checked his phone and saw a missed call from Audrey Sutton.

He immediately called back, but only heard a message that her phone was turned off, prompting him to frown.

Could it be her phone ran out of battery? Such thoughtlessness was indeed something Audrey Sutton would do.

Shane Warner put down his phone, went to the parking lot to retrieve his car, and drove straight towards the restaurant address Audrey Sutton had sent him earlier.

Having been away on a business trip for a few days, this little girl sent messages every day saying she missed him, and when they meet, she might throw herself into his arms without reservation.

Thinking about this, Shane Warner couldn’t help but slightly smile.

The effects of the anesthetic didn’t last long; Audrey Sutton awoke in about ten minutes. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

The faint swaying sensation told her she was likely in a car, destination unknown.

Audrey Sutton tried to move, finding her hands tied behind her, and her eyes covered with a cloth, barely letting any light in; she couldn’t see anything.

Recalling her memory from ten minutes earlier, Audrey Sutton’s mind flashed with a realization: she had been kidnapped again.

Surprisingly, these kidnappers didn’t seem worried about her screaming for help, as they hadn’t covered her mouth.

"Who are you?" Audrey Sutton tried her best to maintain calm.

She didn’t know if the kidnappers were after money or related to Clarissa Morgan.

If they were just after money, it would be easier to deal with.

But no one responded to her question.

She couldn’t tell how many people were in the car, only hearing someone next to her eating.

Besides the faint chewing, there was no other sound.

After a while, Audrey Sutton asked again, "Do you want money?"

Her question was met with silence once more.

"Did someone send you? I don’t know who you are now. Let me go. Whatever they offered you, I’ll double it, okay?"

Audrey Sutton tried to negotiate, but her words were ignored. After a brief silence, she tentatively increased her offer: "Triple?"
