Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 269: I Miss You
"Miss Sutton? Need any help?"
Audrey Sutton was picking out clothes when Nolan Hawke walked in.
"Mr. Hawke, aren’t you busy?"
Nolan Hawke answered, "Just finished a set, the model I booked is stuck in traffic, so I have some downtime now."
Audrey Sutton: "Actually, I haven’t decided what style to shoot. The main issue is that my husband hasn’t worn this type of clothing, so I’m not sure how to choose for him."
"Third Young Master Warner has good looks and a tall build. He can pull off these clothes, but since you’re going for a cherry blossom theme, it’s better to choose something in more elegant colors." Saying this, Nolan Hawke pointed to a set of white garments hanging in the display window.
The color scheme was primarily white with a touch of pale pink on the lapel, looking elegant and simple, yet upon closer inspection, it hid many intricate details.
"This outfit could pair as a couple’s set with yours. Since you’re shooting together, these two sets matched will look great."
Audrey Sutton looked at the outfits Nolan Hawke had pointed out. She herself was quite satisfied, but she wasn’t sure if Shane Warner would like the hints of pink in the men’s outfit.
But considering he agreed to the photoshoot, he probably wouldn’t be too picky about what to wear. Even if he doesn’t like it, he could tolerate it until the shoot is over.
So, Audrey Sutton decided to go ahead and asked Nolan Hawke, "Do these clothes come in sizes? I don’t know if my husband can wear them."
Nolan Hawke: "The clothes displayed here are tailored to the models I hire. I noticed Third Young Master Warner’s height and build are standard, they should fit."
Audrey Sutton picked up the clothes to inspect them. Nolan Hawke added, "Miss Sutton, if you’re still unsure, I could try them on for you. I’m about as tall as Third Young Master, you could see the effect."
"Ah? No need, no need, that would be too much trouble for you. I’m just hesitating on the style."
"Styles are easy to talk about. You can choose several sets. If you don’t mind the hassle, you can swap them over there as you wish."
Nolan Hawke was so courteous that Audrey Sutton felt a bit embarrassed, but there were so many beautiful clothes, she truly believed Shane Warner would look good in anything. So, she was especially torn.
Finally, she picked three sets: one with the sophisticated scholar style of a man with no worldly desires, another with the wanderer hero flair roaming the Jianghu, and the last with the dashing elegance of a noble young master.
There were many more styles she would like Shane Warner to try, but she didn’t dare to wish for too much.
As for her own outfit, it was chosen based on what she picked for Shane Warner.
Nolan Hawke’s booked model arrived, so he got busy again.
Barry Barrett got the shots and didn’t disturb Nolan Hawke, he wandered around the bridal section with Audrey Sutton for a while. It was almost five when they returned to campus.
With Shane Warner on a business trip, Audrey Sutton planned not to cook at home. Conveniently, her mom had called them to come over for dinner tonight.
She waited at the dorm until Stephen Sutton finished his class and then drove back home with him.
Audrey Sutton found it odd her mom would call them for dinner when it wasn’t a birthday or holiday, but when she saw Phoebe King’s car in the parking lot, she understood her mom’s intention.
Meanwhile, Audrey Sutton discreetly glanced at Stephen Sutton’s expression; his reaction was similar to the morning when he saw Phoebe King in his class, noticeably irritable and displeased.
Just walking into the house, she heard the laughter and conversation of her mom and Phoebe King from the kitchen.
Pleasing elders is a skill Phoebe King and Shane Warner share on the same level.
Audrey Sutton changed her shoes and went to the kitchen.
"Audrey, you’re back?" Hazel Yates turned to look at Audrey Sutton and glanced behind her, "Where’s your brother?"
Audrey Sutton pointed upward with her finger, "He went upstairs."
"He rarely comes home, once he does he immediately goes upstairs."
Audrey Sutton exchanged a look with Phoebe King, awkwardly replied to her mom, "Maybe he went upstairs to change clothes."
Hazel Yates said, "That’s why your dad and I were right to insist on having a daughter, look at these boys, the older they get, the less sensible they become."
Just then, Norman Sutton came into the kitchen to grab a drink from the refrigerator and said, "Mom, a married daughter is like water poured out, no matter how good she is, she still goes off with another man."
"Don’t talk sarcastically, later when the kids come back, explain to your dad about that girl."
Norman Sutton pouted, grabbed his drink can, and slipped out of the kitchen.
Audrey Sutton immediately curiously asked, "What girl? Six is dating someone?"
"No idea with him, secretly brought a girl over and arranged for her to work in the flower farm. Turns out he visits her every few days, your dad only found out today while inspecting the farm."
Samuel Sutton and Arthur Sutton returned together, chatting about the ranch development while changing shoes by the door.
"Honey, you’re back? Was today tiring?"
Audrey Sutton saw her mom drop the cooking utensils and wipe her hands on her apron, rushing out to meet her dad as soon as she heard him return.
The couple had been together for decades, yet they still acted like newlyweds.
Seeing her parents interact, Audrey Sutton suddenly thought about her relationship with Shane Warner.
It seemed she rarely made an effort to greet Shane Warner when he returned from work, often only saying "You’re back?" and continued with her own tasks.
Samuel Sutton casually handed the coat from his arm to Hazel Yates as he lowered his head to change shoes, saying, "The cherry trees have blossomed, soon we can eat cherries, I checked today, the fruits are quite large."
Her mom’s favorite fruit was cherries; it was said her dad won her over with an orchard full of cherry trees back then.
Hazel Yates hung the coat on the coat rack and said to Samuel Sutton, "Take me there sometime, okay? I’d like to see the cherry blossoms."
"Sure, we can go tomorrow."
Audrey Sutton hadn’t observed her parents’ interactions carefully before marriage, but now she paid more attention to these details.
Marriage seems to require some sense of ritual, even if it’s just a simple "goodnight" at bedtime or a "good morning" upon waking.
In contrast, Audrey Sutton felt there were many areas in her relationship with Shane Warner that needed improvement.
She felt she’s better at expressing her feelings than when they first got married, but Shane Warner is still the same; he likes to keep his thoughts hidden and makes you guess, never expressing what’s on his mind.
His mouth is sharp and cutting, he’s stingy with praise while being generous with insults.
Watching her parents’ closeness made Audrey Sutton miss Shane Warner a bit.
After finishing washing vegetables in the kitchen, she pulled out her phone and sent a message to Shane Warner.
She spent a moment organizing her words, but only managed to ask, "What are you doing?"
She stared at the screen for a couple of seconds, but he hadn’t replied yet, so Audrey Sutton pursed her lips and typed a few more words, "I miss you."
