Chapter 255: Chapter 255: She Likes My Big Brother

But no matter what, Audrey Sutton dared not play matchmaker between Flora Lane and Luc.

Even if Luc isn’t a bad person, he hasn’t settled down yet, introducing him to Flora would just hurt her in love again.

After dinner, a few of them went to the cinema.

While watching the movie, Audrey Sutton received a message from Phoebe King: Are you home? I miss your big brother.

Seeing Phoebe King’s straightforwardness, Audrey Sutton felt a bit helpless and amused.

She replied: I’m going back for dinner tonight, you can come over, but I’m still out now. I’ll text you when I’m home.

Phoebe King: Got it, got it, I’ll wait for you.

Audrey Sutton: Is my big brother still ignoring you?

Phoebe King: I’m starting to suspect his account is just a zombie account, not a peep from him, but he hasn’t blocked me either.

Audrey Sutton chuckled: He probably knows if he blocks you, you’d find another way to reach him.

Phoebe King: How’s he doing with Rosalind Sherman?

Audrey Sutton: Haven’t heard any news recently, I don’t know if they’re still in touch.

Phoebe King: No news is good news. If there was, I’d probably be attending their wedding.

After the movie, Audrey Sutton went to the company to find Shane Warner.

He wasn’t busy today, got off work after four, and drove Audrey Sutton back to The Suttons.

They had just arrived when Phoebe King showed up right after.

Shane Warner watched Phoebe King step out of her red sports car, frowned, and asked, "What are you doing here?"

Phoebe King used her usual excuse: "I came to hang out with Audrey."

Shane Warner: "Don’t lead her astray."

"Shane, what do you mean by that? Am I that kind of person?"

Shane Warner didn’t say more, wrapped his arm around Audrey Sutton, and headed inside.

Phoebe King, being a guest, was met by Audrey Sutton who, as the hostess, turned back to wait for Phoebe King, abandoning Shane Warner, and walked inside arm in arm with Phoebe.

Shane Warner looked at this woman stealing his wife, his expression wasn’t too pleasant.

She used to stay at his desk drawing while he worked, rare weekends free, she spent all yesterday in the studio, and this morning with her friend, finally home, and someone is still competing for his time.

Inside, she saw Audrey Sutton and Phoebe King sitting on the sofa like Siamese twins, chatting about who knows what, then they both ran upstairs to Audrey’s room.

Shane Warner wandered to the kitchen, helping with preparing dinner.

Not long after, Audrey Sutton also made her way into the kitchen, but she wasn’t there for him, instead directly went to Hazel Yates and asked, "Mom, haven’t the others come back yet?"

"Isn’t Six in his room playing games?"

Audrey Sutton: "I’m not looking for him."

"Your fourth brother’s probably still sleeping."

Audrey Sutton then asked, "What about big brother? Isn’t he off today?"

"Oh, your big brother moved near the school these days, said there’s some teacher exam and it’s more convenient there."

Audrey Sutton was stunned: "So he’s not coming back for dinner tonight?"

Hazel Yates: "Said he’s busy with exams, no time to return."

Phoebe King, listening to this news from outside the kitchen, felt her heart sink.

She didn’t know if Stephen Sutton really had exams or if she’d come so often before using this excuse that she annoyed him, and now he doesn’t even want to come home.

Audrey Sutton didn’t expect this either, she turned around with an apologetic look at Phoebe King.

Without seeing the person she wanted, Phoebe King’s appetite during dinner wasn’t as good as before.

After dinner, Phoebe King sat on the sofa with Audrey Sutton, watching TV and chatting.

She only left after getting a call from a friend around seven.

As soon as Phoebe King left, Hazel Yates sat beside Audrey Sutton and said, "Phoebe is a nice kid, huh."

Audrey Sutton looked at her mom twice, already sniffing out her mom’s intent, and asked, "Mom, what are you thinking?"

Hazel Yates smiled: "Does Phoebe really have someone, or did she just say that to avoid a blind date?"

Audrey Sutton: "You want to introduce her to my third brother?"

Hazel Yates: "I think Phoebe’s personality is pretty good, and her age is about the same as your third brother’s, what do you think?"

Fearing her mom might play matchmaker indiscriminately, Audrey hesitated but told the truth: "Mom, actually, Phoebe likes my big brother, did you think she kept coming over just to eat your cooking? She’s here to see my big brother."

Hazel Yates was stunned, clearly surprised by this information.

Audrey Sutton: "Didn’t you notice Phoebe was distracted during dinner tonight? Just because big brother wasn’t here."

"Then why didn’t she say something sooner? We would have just set them up right away. Does your big brother know?"

Audrey Sutton nodded: "He knows, but there seems to be some misunderstanding between them."

"Phoebe is really good, seems quite suitable for your big brother. He was saying he and Rosie aren’t quite right, and they haven’t been in touch much recently. Since Phoebe likes Stephen, maybe they can give it a try."

Audrey felt that with mom backing her up, big brother might change his view on Phoebe King.

Phoebe King drank a bit, feeling tipsy. After finishing a card game in the game room, it was almost midnight.

"Brother Phoebe, if you’ve been drinking, it’s better not to drive, let me take you home?"

Phoebe King opened the car door and sat inside, staring out the window for a while before suddenly wanting to go to the school.

The friend driving didn’t understand why she wanted to go to the school, but still turned the car towards it.

Twenty minutes later, the car stopped at the faculty apartment, Phoebe King got out and said to the driver, "Alright, you head back."

"Brother Phoebe, since when did you have a place here?"

Phoebe King casually replied while heading inside, "A friend’s place."

"Okay, take care, I’ll head off."

Phoebe King lazily waved, looked up at the numbers in the lobby, made sure it was correct, and walked towards the elevator.

At this time, it was quiet everywhere, hardly anyone using the elevator, so it was waiting on the first floor, opened directly when she pushed the button.

Her visits here were numerous enough to count, though he was never actually there.

Even with her eyes closed, she could find his door, reached to press the doorbell.

"Ding-dong—"

"Ding-dong—"

After two rings, the door remained tightly shut.

Phoebe King peered through the peephole into the darkness inside, no lights on.

Looked at her watch, it was past midnight, could he be asleep?

She quietly waited outside, pulled out her phone, and messaged him: Could you open the door for me? I have something to talk to you about.
