Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 206: Didn’t Miss Me?
Grandma said from the side, "Looks like I’ll be able to hold my great-grandson soon."
"Grandma!" Audrey Sutton replied coyly, glancing at Shane Warner and blushing.
Hazel Yates chuckled, "Audrey’s a junior now, probably not too far off after graduation."
Grandma immediately turned to her grandsons, "You all need to hurry up too. You’re all nearing thirty and haven’t brought home a girlfriend yet. Your father had a bunch of kids at your age."
Franklin Sutton quickly said, "I have a partner, you know. As for the eldest and the third, you two are being ridiculous."
The eldest and the third glanced at him at the same time, signaling him to shut up.
The pressure to marry is only something the elders worry about. Although Hazel Yates hopes they can settle down early, she never forcefully interferes in their individual romantic issues.
However, she had never thought Audrey Sutton’s marriage would be so worry-free for them.
After dinner, Shane Warner took Audrey Sutton back home.
In the car, Audrey asked him again, "Have you caught the person?"
Shane set up the heater in the car and said while reversing, "Just stay away from Simon Sue."
He felt that even though this incident wasn’t planned by Simon Sue, Simon had improper intentions towards Audrey Sutton but lacked the courage. If he hadn’t arrived in time that day, Simon might have actually done something to Audrey.
After all, men understand men most. When faced with temptation, even a slight wavering of will could lead to unreasonable actions.
Moreover, he worried that Simon might really have some peculiar inclinations, so it’s better to stay away from such strange people.
"It definitely wasn’t Simon Sue’s doing. Did you guys investigate the wrong person?"
"I told you to stay away from him, so stay away. Would I harm you?"
Audrey pouted because she was worried Shane Warner might focus the investigation too much on Simon Sue, allowing the real culprit to slip away.
"What did you do at home today?"
Audrey looked out the window, "Drew, slept."
"Anything else?"
Audrey thought for a moment, "Ate something." 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
Shane smiled and said, "Think again."
Seeing the smile on his face, Audrey felt like he was setting a trap for her.
She didn’t answer, just stared at him to see what trick he was up to.
Shane glanced at her sideways, "Didn’t miss me?"
"Pah!" Audrey answered without thinking, "Nope."
Shane smiled at the road ahead, holding back the words "I actually missed you."
"By the way, I want to ask you for a favor."
Shane responded softly, "What is it?"
Audrey smiled charmingly, "It’s about Flora, she’s been job hunting recently and asked me to see if you have any suitable positions."
"In the same field as you?"
Audrey shook her head, "She’s into broadcasting, but the internship pay is too low. Her family situation is quite complicated now, so she’s looking for a job that’s a bit more sustainable."
Shane pondered, trying to think if there were any suitable positions for Flora Lane in his company. But since the specialty didn’t match, he wasn’t sure where to place her.
"If there’s nothing suitable in the company, even doing sales at an offline store would be okay. Flora is articulate and should do well."
Audrey knew that not everyone can do sales at Starfield because the pay is high, the benefits are good, and Shane Warner is such a handsome and reasonable boss; without some inside connections, it’s really hard to get into this line of work.
"Your school has stores in both the city center and Gresham. Ask her which is more convenient for her, let me know once it’s decided."
Audrey didn’t expect Shane Warner to agree so readily and smiled mischievously, "Thank you, boss."
Shane chuckled and glanced at her, surprised she was calculating again, "By the way, the apartment we used to live in should be furnished now, right?"
"Want to move back in?"
"No, I’m thinking such a good place, sitting idle next to the school is a waste. Why not rent it out and earn some rent every month?"
Shane didn’t even think before he said, "Sure, you go arrange it. Take it as some pocket money for yourself."
"Let’s split the rent fifty-fifty. You provide the apartment, and I provide the effort. I’ll list it online later." Actually, Audrey mainly thought about it after Flora complained about her current rental being bad. If it’s too expensive, Flora’s finances don’t allow her to be extravagant.
Audrey remembered the vacant apartment, so many empty rooms; arranging a shared rental, and renting a room to Flora at a cheaper rate while renting the other rooms could easily bring in nearly ten thousand a month.
Although Shane Warner might not care about such small money, it’s better than wasting resources.
That night, Audrey discussed this with Flora, who was delighted upon hearing it.
Since the apartment is near the school, Flora also chose a job location close to that commercial area.
She started training the next day after the interview, solving Flora Lane’s current economic difficulties.
Audrey stayed home diligently for two days. Besides painting, she often played with the fourth brother’s cat, basked in the sun, helped Grandma with her plants, or picked strawberries from the shed.
Grandpa liked fishing wherever he went; Dad drove grandpa and Six to the family’s fish pond in the suburbs to fish every day.
While there were lots of things to do at home, being cooped inside the house all the time felt somewhat boring to Audrey.
Since Flora wasn’t too busy during her training, they planned to use these days to move house.
Feeling cooped up at home, Audrey agreed on a time with Flora to come over to help move.
Due to the psychological shadow caused by the previous kidnapping, Audrey asked the family driver to drive her there.
Flora had a lot of belongings, and her rented apartment was on the sixth floor with no elevator. Audrey ran up and down six or seven times, filling a whole trunk before they were finally done.
"Audrey, you’re really sis’s little darling; sis hasn’t spoiled you for nothing all these years."
Audrey laughed while helping her tidy up the apartment, "Not even treating me to a good lunch?"
Flora organized clothes from the box, laughing slyly, "Order whatever you like under a hundred, okay?"
"I say Flora, you really should learn to cook. It’d be convenient to cook now that you’ve moved here. Cooking for yourself saves money and is definitely more hygienic than eating out."
Flora clicked her tongue twice, "Seems you’ve been taught well by your guy, these words actually came out of Audrey Sutton’s mouth."
Audrey giggled, and every glance, every little gesture revealed her happiness.
