Chapter 178: Chapter 178: They All Think You’re Too Young

"Day by day, you’re biting the hand that feeds you. What’s the point of raising you for twenty years? You don’t even try to scam some money from your husband to show some respect to your brother."

Audrey Sutton knew Norman Sutton was joking. She fiddled with a Pikachu toy she left in the car and joked with Norman Sutton, "With your gift of gab, why don’t you go and find yourself a rich lady to support you?"

"If the wife of a wealthy man is a rich lady, when are you going to support me?"

"Pfft! Even if I were a rich lady, I wouldn’t support you. How about I introduce you to one?"

Norman Sutton rolled his eyes at her, "What, a rich lady turning fifty?"

"Brother Seraphina."

As soon as Norman Sutton heard, he wore an expression of disgust, "Forget it, those tigresses in your dorm are not meant to torment your brother."

"What are you talking about? Brother Seraphina wouldn’t even look at you; they all think you’re too young."

"Audrey Sutton, clarify your words to me, what exactly is ’too young’?"

"Too young, immature, not grown up, a little brat."

"Let me tell you, all of your snacks are gone; just get out of the car and see for yourself."

"I’m not the one saying it; it’s what they say. Think about it, if only I say it, you might think I have a bias against you, but if everyone says it, then you really are just a little brat."

Norman Sutton was initially a bit steamed, but then he snapped back, "It’s still better than being an old man."

Audrey Sutton’s eyebrows furrowed at this, defending fiercely, "Don’t talk about him being old! He’s in the prime of his life, you’re just jealous of him!"

She could say Shane Warner was old, but no one else could, not even her own brother.

With Norman Sutton around, things were never quiet. All the way, the siblings kept quipping back and forth. When getting out of the car, Audrey Sutton feared he might snatch her snacks, so at the moment he opened the trunk, she preemptively grabbed the bag of snacks.

Norman Sutton got out of the car, looked at her with disdain in his eyes, "Look at your behavior."

Seeing that he didn’t intend to snatch them from her, Audrey Sutton relaxed.

She went over to open the door, stepped aside to let Norman Sutton carry the two big bags of ingredients to the refrigerator by the side of the kitchen counter.

She placed the bag of snacks on the cabinet by the door, then followed him over and cheerfully said to Norman Sutton, "Just put them here, we don’t have extra bowls and chopsticks at home, so you’re not staying for dinner. If you want water, help yourself outside, take care."

Norman Sutton shot her an angry look, said nothing, put down the stuff in his hands, and swiftly turned around to leave.

Audrey Sutton hadn’t reacted at first, but hearing the door close, she immediately thought of her bag of snacks.

She hurriedly turned her head and found that the snack bag she had just placed by the door was indeed gone.

By the time she opened the door to chase after him, Norman Sutton had already gotten in the car, rolled down the window, and smugly smiled at her, "Thanks, sis, these are all snacks your brother loves."

"Norman Sutton!"

"I won’t drink water, bye-bye."

Audrey Sutton chased after him for two steps, angrily grabbing a clump of snow on the ground and throwing it in that direction, but Norman Sutton drove away quickly and was soon far out of sight.

Audrey Sutton was so vexed that she felt choked up in her chest for a good while; she could let anyone have a good deal, but she didn’t want Norman Sutton, the skinflint, to benefit!

"Ding-dong—"

Shane Warner’s boarding notification came in, which finally brought Audrey Sutton out of her mood and back to the kitchen counter to get busy.

Two hours later, the meal was almost ready, and Shane Warner sent a message saying he’d landed.

If there was no traffic from the airport, it would only take twenty minutes to get here; Audrey Sutton calculated the time and started putting the dishes on the table, making slight adjustments to the placement of the cutlery.

Not long after, she saw General, who had been lying on the carpet wagging his tail, run towards the door, so Audrey Sutton knew Shane Warner was back.

She washed her hands under the faucet, watched the door open, and after drying her hands with a towel, she moved towards the entrance to welcome Shane Warner, "You’re back?"

Shane Warner nodded, looked at her outstretched hand, and naturally handed her the jacket he was carrying.

Standing by the door, he could smell the fragrance of the food, and returning home with the house all lively after a trip compared starkly to how quiet it used to be.

He even felt a momentary impulse to give her a hug.

"Do you want to change first? Dinner will be ready soon."

Passing the dining table with his suitcase, Shane Warner glanced at the dishes on it; it had been days since he last tasted her cooking, and he was a bit nostalgic about it.

"I’ll go upstairs and take a shower. Could you cool a bowl of soup for me?"

Audrey Sutton immediately nodded, knowing he only needed a few minutes to shower, so after he went upstairs, she poured a bowl of chicken soup and placed it by the dining table.

Once all the dishes were on the table, she took a photo and shared it in the "Jixiang Nine Treasures" group.

Whenever there was activity in the group, her mom was always the first to respond: "It seems our Audrey has grown up after getting married, cooking up such a feast all by herself."

Then came her dad: "Eating so well without inviting me and your mom to join."

Audrey Sutton laughed and said, "Today is just a trial, tomorrow I’ll cook for you both."

Her mood had finally lifted, but then Six suddenly chipped in: "Chips my sister buys always taste better than the ones I buy."

The ever-serious Samuel Sutton, who rarely allowed snacks at home, sternly addressed Norman Sutton: "If chips taste good, go eat them outside; don’t come back."

Seeing Norman Sutton being reprimanded, Audrey Sutton felt a sense of relief.

Unexpectedly, shameless Norman Sutton immediately pulled Audrey Sutton down with him: "Dad, this is your precious daughter’s purchase, nothing to do with me."

Samuel Sutton: "How did your sister’s purchase end up with you?"

Norman Sutton: She couldn’t finish them, so she asked me to help."

Audrey Sutton hurriedly went on to clarify, "Nonsense, Six stole my stuff. Dad, you really need to talk to him; he bullies me all the time."

Norman Sutton: "Audrey Sutton, don’t slander me, you can eat chips carelessly, but don’t talk carelessly."

Samuel Sutton: "We’ll deal with you when you get back."

Audrey Sutton grinned at her phone, only to hear Shane Warner’s voice suddenly catch her by surprise from behind: "What’s got you so cheerful?"

Upon hearing he was down, Audrey Sutton turned around right away.

Even though she’d seen him countless times in his robe, she still found his lazy-chic look utterly charming. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

Audrey Sutton gazed at him for a couple of seconds, and when he got close, she put down her phone, pulled out a chair by the dining table and said to him, "Come and eat."

Shane Warner took a seat by the dining table, reaching for the chopsticks she handed him, first sipping the soup, only to see Audrey Sutton gazing hopefully, asking him, "How is it? Better than last time?"

"Not bad." He seemed indifferent, swallowing with a lack of enthusiasm, yet drank the bowl in one go and picked up the ladle to serve himself a second.
