Chapter 176: Chapter 176: Too Cold to Sleep Alone

Audrey Sutton sat by the window, touching her brow where he had just kissed, smiling foolishly at the view outside.

She even contemplated hiring a paparazzo to follow them daily, thinking maybe then Shane Warner would often show her those intimate gestures only couples share?

Shane Warner returned to the hotel, showered, and came out of the bathroom. He reached for the bottle of face cream Audrey Sutton had left on the TV cabinet, scrutinizing it closely yet unable to make anything of it.

This stuff... can it really control wrinkles?

He opened the cap and brought it to his nose to sniff, finding the scent pleasant.

Then he dipped his finger into the cream, imitating her morning technique, dotting the cream across his face and spreading it with his hand.

Once applied, it felt quite comfortable and refreshing.

He took a photo with his phone and sent it to Faye Xavier saying: Get me a bottle of this.

Faye Xavier: Buying it for your sister-in-law? Master Shane, you’re now her personal shopper too?

Shane Warner: Just buy it. Why so many questions?

Faye Xavier murmured to his phone: "So rude! Just wait till your little sister-in-law deals with you!"

The next day, Audrey Sutton walked out of the exam hall feeling down, silently counting the questions she was confident about, only tallying up to forty-plus points.

Which meant the remaining twenty points depended on her guessing skills. Whether she’d get Shane Warner’s reward or not was up to fate.

Stephen Sutton had always paid close attention to Audrey Sutton’s studies. Knowing the exam was over, he promptly called to ask: "How did you do?"

Audrey Sutton complained: "The questions were all so obscure, the materials I reviewed were practically useless, and some of the question types were completely new to me."

Stephen Sutton chuckled lightly to reassure her, saying: "No worries, I’ll go over the wrong answers with you once results are out."

"Thanks, big brother."

Audrey Sutton was more concerned about the pass reward Shane Warner promised.

She had been studying diligently, convinced she wouldn’t fail, yet fate seemed to conspire against her. Even the class geniuses said the exam was tough.

In the dormitory.

Following Seraphina Vaughn, Audrey Sutton learned to paint her nails while Barry Barrett asked during a gaming break: "Sutton, hasn’t the Third Young Master visited you at school for a while now? Did you two have another argument?"

Audrey Sutton carefully applied red nail polish to her toenails, wary of the color bleeding, after completing the last toe and placing it under the light, she finally replied: "Why are you like Flora, always hoping we argue?"

"Even without a fight, the Third Young Master not visiting for so many days means you’ve been banished then?"

"Nonsense! He’s busy with work at year-end, on a business trip, coming back tomorrow." Audrey Sutton said, with a slight hint of pride in her tone, "He was supposed to return the day after tomorrow, coming back early to celebrate New Year’s with me."

"Tsk tsk tsk, look at you, spineless, clearly being dominated at home by the Third Young Master."

"Nonsense." Audrey Sutton murmured, then focused on painting her other foot.

Seraphina Vaughn tapped her hand: "Apply the base coat first, I’ve told you several times, you never remember."

"Is Sutton pregnant or something? Pregnancy brain."

Seraphina Vaughn glanced at Audrey Sutton, amused: "She’s clearly love-struck."

Audrey Sutton laughed: "You’re all just jealous, hence the defamation."

"Bang—" The dormitory door was forcefully pushed open from outside, Flora Lane stormed in huffing and puffing: "I’m so mad! So mad!"

"What’s wrong, Flora?"

Flora Lane sat by Audrey Sutton’s bed, "Who will take me in for New Year’s? I don’t want to go home."

Seraphina Vaughn knowingly teased Flora Lane: "Your family setting you up again?"

Flora Lane started to vent: "The guy is almost forty, and because he’s moderately wealthy, my stepmother is eagerly trying to marry me off, saying her son urgently needs money to buy a house to get married. She’s not even my real mom, raising a giant infant at home, why sacrifice me, damn it."

Barry: "Ignore them, you owe them nothing, living on your own terms, how can she use your life to exchange for her son’s?"

"I’m seriously considering cutting ties now!"

Everyone understood Flora Lane’s familial situation, a burden no one would want.

Audrey Sutton always felt Flora Lane’s incessant quest for a boyfriend wasn’t because she was fickle-hearted.

But due to a lack of affection since childhood, prompting her desire for companionship.

Whenever someone was good to her, she’d repay it significantly, but at the mere hint of betrayal, she’d decisively end the relationship.

She was indeed a good girl, merely not having met the right person yet.

Flora Lane was upset, so the four sisters agreed to go out for hot pot at night.

After eating to their hearts’ content, they went to the karaoke room to crazily sing.

Shane Warner lay soaking in the bathtub, staring at the message sent to Audrey Sutton around seven in the evening, yet by past ten there was still no reply.

Based on his understanding of her, it was impossible for Audrey not to check her phone for so long, much less ignore his message.

His curiosity prompted him to call, with the phone ringing incessantly. Shane Warner’s patience slowly waned, and a trace of unease crept into his heart.

Worried thinking that she was home alone, anything could happen and nobody would know.

Just as the call was about to automatically disconnect, her voice came through: "Hello?"

The noise was loud on the line, Shane Warner’s tone switched from concern to displeasure: "Where are you messing around?"

"Singing, didn’t hear the phone ringing just now."

Shane Warner: "Who are you singing with?"

Audrey Sutton: "Flora and the others."

Originally, Shane Warner was worried she felt lonely being home alone, but clearly, she’s having fun without him.

But it’s certainly good she’s spending time with her friends.

"What are you doing?" Audrey Sutton stood in the corridor of the karaoke box, quieter here, she could still faintly hear Flora screaming into the microphone, but her focus was all on the phone conversation.

Shane Warner sounded lazy: "Taking a bath."

Audrey Sutton’s mind couldn’t help but conjure visuals.

Bathtub, hot water, handsome man...

"Bathing alone?"

Shane Warner chuckled: "When I return, we can bathe together."

Audrey Sutton initially wanted to joke, but his teasing made her blush, so she swiftly changed the topic: "Are you over your cold yet?"

"Not yet." He paused for two seconds, before Audrey Sutton could speak, he continued: "Sleeping alone at night is too cold."

Audrey Sutton: "..."

The first half sentence made Audrey truly worried for him, but the second half revealed his playful intent.

"I hope you freeze! I’m off to sing, not playing with you anymore."

"Still singing at this hour? Get home sooner!"

"Beep—"

The phone call was abruptly ended by her.
