Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 171: Liking Him
Shane’s cold hasn’t improved, and Audrey Sutton is still quite worried about him.
On Saturday morning, Audrey Sutton was woken up by Pea.
Seeing that it was still early, and thinking there’s no need to make breakfast for Shane, she stayed in bed and played on her phone for a while.
A few minutes past eight, a WhatsApp message from Shane popped up at the top of her phone screen: "Are you awake?"
Audrey Sutton quickly opened the message and replied: "I’ve been awake for a while."
Shane: "What are you doing under the covers if you’re awake?"
Surprised, Audrey Sutton quickly looked around the room, scared that he might have installed cameras in her room.
Only then did she ask: "How do you know?"
He replied: "Just a guess."
Looking at the phone screen, Audrey Sutton couldn’t help but smile. Too lazy to type, she sent a voice message: "Then I guess you’re having breakfast, uh... chicken salad and vegetable juice."
Perhaps because it was morning, her voice had a bit of a raspy texture and her tone was slightly playful and cute.
Sitting in the hotel restaurant having breakfast, Shane couldn’t help but smile and replied: "I’m having a sandwich and milk."
She immediately sent another message: "Is your cold any better? I found your cold medicine at home yesterday afternoon. If you’re not feeling well, remember to get some more there."
In front of his phone, Shane coughed a few times. His voice was indeed very hoarse, which is why he stuck to typing instead of sending voice messages: "Take care of yourself. I think I will only be back during the New Year holidays. When are your exams?"
Audrey Sutton: "Math exam on Monday, the rest I have to wait for notifications."
Shane: "Study hard, don’t wander around these days, just stay home and practice questions. If there’s anything you don’t understand, take a picture and send it over."
Before Audrey Sutton could reply, he sent another message: "About to start a meeting, you get up and have breakfast."
With his reminder, Audrey Sutton stretched and obediently got out of bed.
After a simple bowl of oatmeal, Audrey Sutton took General for a walk in the backyard.
Feeling sorry to leave Pea alone at home, Audrey Sutton brought Pea along to the backyard.
The ground had a thin layer of snow, and General obediently followed Audrey Sutton’s footsteps, appearing very joyful.
However, Pea, who hadn’t been out much, was very cautious, clinging tightly to Audrey Sutton’s arm, wide-eyed and looking around.
Placed on the ground, Pea wouldn’t budge, but gradually relaxed and started playing in the snow with General after a little coaxing.
Seeing General and Pea, Audrey Sutton suddenly fantasized about how wonderful it would be if she and Shane had a child; it would make the family complete.
But just thinking about it made Audrey Sutton unsure again.
Even though her interactions with Shane have been quite harmonious lately, their relationship is stagnant with no progress.
Audrey Sutton doesn’t know what she could do to make improvements. She’s content with the status quo but fears that those women outside might try to take advantage.
She’s pondering how to heat up their relationship.
Maybe influenced by Phoebe King, Audrey Sutton often has an impulse to confess to Shane.
But she just doesn’t have the courage that Phoebe King does.
Right now, she only has one idea, albeit a lousy one—having a child.
She thinks even though Shane isn’t very fond of her right now, he doesn’t dislike her either.
If she had a child with him, maybe out of consideration for the child, he would be willing to make do with spending a lifetime with her.
But Audrey Sutton feels it’s unfair to the child if things were like that. There are too many unknowns between them, and she’s not willing to risk a little life.
A little past ten in the morning, Audrey Sutton stood in front of the refrigerator, agonizing over lunch options.
Before she could decide, her phone started ringing from the coffee table.
She closed the refrigerator door and immediately walked to the living room to pick up the phone on the coffee table, seeing an unfamiliar number displayed...
"Hello, who is this?"
A calm male voice came from the other end: "This is Lucian Quinn, Shane just suddenly collapsed and was taken to the hospital." 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
"Collapsed?" Audrey Sutton’s heart instantly tightened, "Wasn’t he fine this morning?"
"It happened suddenly during a meeting, and he was just taken away by an ambulance."
"I’ll check the flight tickets and come over as soon as I can. Please look after him for now and keep me updated on any developments."
Lucian Quinn paused for a moment: "Alright."
He had merely intended to inform Audrey Sutton, not expecting her to be so anxious.
Audrey Sutton also hadn’t expected the situation to be this severe, considering Shane’s good health and attention to exercise, it’s astonishing he collapsed during a meeting, neglecting to take care of himself.
Without even preparing lunch, Audrey Sutton immediately checked her phone for flights to his city.
The earliest one was at 11:30. After booking the ticket, Audrey Sutton went upstairs to change clothes, added enough food for General and Pea for the next two days, and checked around the house for any safety hazards before hurriedly leaving.
With little hunger, Audrey Sutton took a taxi straight to the airport. After checking in, she bought some food at the airport.
No new message had come from Lucian Quinn, and she had no idea how Shane was doing now.
The plane took off on time and landed a few minutes earlier than expected, taking about two hours in the air.
Upon disembarking, she received a message from Shane.
The message was sent half an hour ago, first sending her the hospital’s address location, followed by a question after a few minutes: "Where are you now?"
It seems he’s awake, and Lucian Quinn has told him she’s coming over.
Audrey Sutton replied while walking out of the airport: "Just got off the plane, how are you feeling?"
She didn’t get a reply; perhaps he was busy with something.
This place was even colder than Rivia, so Audrey Sutton wrapped her scarf tightly, took a taxi following his address, and headed straight to the hospital.
During the ride, he called.
His voice sounded somewhat okay, yet his throat was still hoarse: "Checking up on me again?"
Seeing he’s still in a mood to joke, Audrey Sutton’s worry eased a bit: "Like hell, how are you? Feeling better?"
"I won’t die. I’m just surprised you’re so worried about me, waking up to hear you’ve hurried over."
Audrey Sutton merely said: "We’ll talk at the hospital." Then she hung up the phone.
When she heard he collapsed, she immediately thought the situation was dire, and the first thought that crossed her mind was to come find him, being by his side made her feel more at ease.
Thinking back, she really was a bit impulsive, but she hadn’t considered much, only wanting to see him as soon as possible.
Seems like she’s going to be laughed at by him again.
But now that she’s here, she could only muster the courage and go.
She always felt, admitting her feelings for him is inevitable.
