Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 150: Are You Pregnant?
Audrey Sutton stretched out her hand to reach the TV remote on the coffee table, turned on the TV to a variety show, and lay on the couch enjoying herself.
The ice pack was almost done, so he sprayed some medicine on her foot and gently massaged it with his hand.
Her foot and his hand were both cold after the ice pack, but the friction from his massage brought a slight warmth, making it feel especially comfortable.
Shane Warner glanced at her, lying on her side watching TV and looking sleepy, like a tired little cat. He could almost imagine her lazily swinging her cat tail, about to fall asleep.
"Snap—" With a light smack, he slapped the top of her foot.
"Ouch—" Audrey Sutton gasped, the sudden pain waking her up instantly.
He tossed her foot onto the couch and stood up to tidy up the ice bag and medicine bottles, saying, "Turn off the TV, go upstairs to sleep." 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
Audrey Sutton glanced at the clock on the wall; it was only ten. Not time to sleep yet.
But thinking he might have work to handle, she obediently went upstairs and buried herself in drafting artwork in her room.
Speaking of the wealthy benefactor who tipped a million drawing credits, he hadn’t appeared for days. She thought he might have switched to supporting little authors elsewhere, so she even checked his profile for updates.
His activity feed only had a few records of tipping her, nothing else, as clean as if she had hired someone to pose as a supporter.
It’s been quite a while since the last tip. Is the benefactor... still alive?
The "wealthy benefactor" living next door was completely unaware that his wife was cursing him, fully absorbed in his work.
"Ding dong—" The phone on the desk lit up with a sound.
His hand stopped typing on the keyboard, reached for his phone, and saw a message from the user with a pea photo as the avatar: Are you asleep?
Shane Warner instinctively glanced at the wall separating them, and typed a reply: No.
Audrey Sutton then asked: Have you finished your work yet?
Shane Warner: Just say if there’s something.
Audrey Sutton bombarded him with a panda emoji, followed by a line of text: Other kids have reached the top rank, when will you accompany me to level up?
Shane Warner was amused by the flashy emoji and cheeky note, but before he could decide on a reply, his room door knocked "thud thud."
He responded lightly: "Enter."
The door pushed open, and she peeked her head in with a laugh, asking him: "Wanna play games?"
Shane Warner had already put away his smile, glanced up at her, and started organizing the documents beside him: "Give me two minutes."
Happy to hear his agreement, Audrey Sutton smiled and then asked: "Can I play in your room?"
Shane Warner glanced at her without a word. Audrey Sutton thought he might not like others in his room, so she hastily added: "Or you could come to my room, easier to communicate while playing."
He continued organizing his documents, and said casually: "You can sleep here if you want."
Audrey Sutton froze, and he added: "After all, you’ve already slept here."
His voice was nonchalant, without a hint of embarrassment.
Audrey Sutton blushed slightly, sat on the couch by the wall with her phone.
"Come over," he gestured, and Audrey Sutton came over happily.
He logged into the game, handed her the phone, and said: "Add my account."
"Not using the previous one?"
"That account has already reached glory rank."
Audrey Sutton: "..."
Looks like her mere diamond rank doesn’t cut it.
He got up and went to the bathroom, Audrey Sutton added his friend and couldn’t help but curiously look at this account.
Clearly a newly created account, the number of games played was only two-digit, yet the rank was already the same as hers. She checked the hero win rates, almost all were in the nineties...
The number of heroes and skins wasn’t extensive, but he had almost all of the heroes commonly used.
Before she could delve deeper into the account’s details, Shane Warner came out of the bathroom.
"...Done," Audrey Sutton handed his phone back to him. He took it and sat on the seat beside her.
"Is your foot better?" As he spoke, he set up a ranked match and invited her.
"Not as painful as before, but I still don’t dare to put much weight on it."
"Serves you right."
Audrey Sutton huffed, saying: "I finally understand why you couldn’t find a girlfriend before."
Shane Warner: "I just didn’t want to find one."
"Even if you find one, you’d annoy her to death!"
"Then why do I feel like you’re living quite comfortably? Your face looks a bit chubbier."
"Nonsense! Hurry, it’s your turn to pick a hero."
They played three games, with him playing as the jungler hero and her as a support, happily following him throughout.
Audrey Sutton got sent back to the spring and leaned in to watch Shane Warner’s moves.
Wondering why, in the game, with the same heroes and using two hands, he was so good?
She always thought that men who were tall, handsome, good at earning money, and skilled at gaming belonged in manga only.
Yet Shane Warner was a real person who met all these criteria, and she had him all to herself. While feeling secretly pleased, she also became more scared of losing him.
Online advice says, not to meet someone too stunning when you’re young. Audrey Sutton agreed with this.
Because she felt if things didn’t go well with Shane, a divorce might make it hard for her to love someone else again.
Right now, she felt her time with him was borrowed, wanting to peacefully live with him, yet constantly feeling a sense of insecurity.
As she revived, the enemy’s crystal exploded.
They won again, but the joy wasn’t as intense.
"Are you sleepy? When will you sleep?"
Audrey Sutton shook her head: "Not sleepy yet, want to play a bit more."
Shane Warner knew she usually played on her phone in bed for a long time before sleeping, often staying awake past midnight.
A few minutes into the game, Audrey Sutton said: "I’m a bit hungry, are you hungry?"
Shane Warner continued controlling his hero while saying: "What time is it, don’t eat so late."
"But I’m too hungry to sleep later."
He glanced sideways at her, asking: "Want to eat what?"
Audrey Sutton thought and said: "Something spicy."
Shane Warner gave her a look, silently vetoing her suggestion, saying: "Maybe a fruit cocktail."
"Don’t want sweet, want spicy."
Shane Warner pressed his hero back to the city, thoughtfully asking her: "Are you pregnant? Sweet boy, spicy girl?"
Audrey Sutton gave him a playful red-faced look and said: "My period just ended a few days ago! I’m just purely craving something, barbecue or spicy hotpot."
He looked down at his phone screen, uttering a cool two-word answer: "No way."
Audrey Sutton pursed her lips, didn’t continue the topic, already planning to order takeout after the game, as compensation for her injured foot.
After a wave of battles, Audrey Sutton curiously asked him: "Do you like daughters?"
Shane Warner gave a meaningful smile, not answering but asking back: "Do you really want to give me a child?"
Surprised, Audrey Sutton replied impulsively: "The devil would want to give you a child! You give birth yourself!"
