Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 145: Third Brother’s Dream Girl
As soon as the car stopped at the venue entrance, Audrey Sutton saw Clarissa Morgan getting out of the car with Quentin Sterling’s support.
She had changed from her usual mature woman style to a trendy socialite vibe, wearing a chic Chanel-inspired suit.
Audrey Sutton looked at Clarissa Morgan outside the window, and her first reaction was to quickly unfasten her seatbelt and take off her own down jacket.
Shane Warner understood who she was competing against, so he didn’t say anything to her.
Getting out, he walked around the car body, opened the car door like a gentleman, and helped her out.
The temperature outside still made Audrey Sutton shiver, but as soon as she held Shane Warner’s warm hand, she felt much warmer.
"Shane, Audrey, you both arrived!" Clarissa Morgan, arm in arm with Quentin Sterling, proactively greeted them.
Shane Warner held Audrey Sutton’s slender waist with a light smile and nodded in greeting.
Audrey Sutton wore striking plum lipstick, a long black dress, and nearly ten-centimeter high heels.
When she nestled in Shane Warner’s arms, she felt like a spoiled princess; facing Clarissa Morgan, she felt like a cold and noble queen.
"Sister Morgan, there’s more than half a month until your performance, you still need to watch your figure. You seem a bit chubbier than when I saw you days ago." Audrey Sutton smiled, seemingly playful banter between friends, but actually a dig at what Clarissa Morgan said in the elevator that day.
Indeed, she did seem a little bit chubbier than before, though she wouldn’t be considered fat.
Quentin Sterling smiled indulgently, saying, "I thought she was too skinny before, so I improved her diet at home."
Clarissa Morgan also smiled, saying, "I recall Shane also said he liked girls with a bit more flesh."
Audrey Sutton immediately looked at Shane Warner, as if seeking confirmation about Clarissa Morgan’s words.
Shane Warner ungraciously said, "Miss Morgan must have remembered wrong, I never said such a thing."
Clarissa Morgan wasn’t embarrassed, she quickly smoothed over by saying, "Perhaps Miles said it before, I mixed it up."
Shane Warner smiled slightly without speaking, looked down at Audrey Sutton shivering in the cold, and held her cold little hand, saying, "Let’s go inside first."
Entering the venue, Shane Warner deliberately didn’t wait for Clarissa Morgan and company, and sat down with Audrey Sutton according to the seat number on the ticket.
"Cold?"
Audrey Sutton shook her head, "Cold just now, but not anymore inside."
He still held her not yet warmed little hand in his palm, turned his head and saw Arthur Sutton walking over, lightly nodding with a smile.
"How long has it been since you went home?" Arthur Sutton asked Audrey Sutton immediately upon his approach, seemingly a reprimand but actually filled with doting.
"I’ll go home after the exams," Audrey Sutton said with a smile, then noticed that everyone was here with either spouses or girlfriends, except her third brother alone, and said, "Third brother, maybe it’s time for you to find someone too?"
Arthur Sutton sat beside Audrey Sutton on the other side, laughing, "Is this little girl urging my marriage now?"
Audrey Sutton chuckled, "Just seeing you so lonely and pitiful! You used to take me as your companion to events, now look, you don’t even have a companion."
Arthur Sutton smiled without speaking, but his gaze suddenly turned deep, as if remembering someone.
That girl he searched for long, yet never had news of; he didn’t even know her name, nor did he remember her face clearly.
The venue was bustling, as Clarissa Morgan was somewhat in the entertainment circle, not only celebrities from the political and business spheres were present, but also influential stars from the entertainment circle. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
Among them was Simon Sue, of course.
Simon Sue, though young and a junior in the entertainment circle, possessed one of the top popularities currently.
In public, he was polite and humble, bowing ninety degrees and shaking hands when meeting seniors, showing a perfect facade.
If he hadn’t tried to poach Shane Warner before, Audrey Sutton might still have some respect for him, as he was indeed talented.
Shane Warner noticed when Simon Sue arrived and subconsciously leaned closer to Audrey Sutton.
However, the seating arrangement was separated between the business and entertainment circles, with an aisle in the middle; they sat on the left, Simon Sue on the right, though far, it didn’t affect Simon Sue’s gaze towards Audrey Sutton.
Shane Warner noticed and purposely leaned back, perfectly blocking Audrey Sutton from view.
The auction started promptly at eight, besides the Sterling’s own jade products, there were some famous paintings.
Shane Warner had no interest in collecting these items, after bidding two million for a jade bracelet, he didn’t raise his bid again.
Arthur Sutton sat alongside, not participating in any bids until a portrait oil painting appeared.
From the host’s introduction and Arthur Sutton’s fixation on the lively girl’s image in the painting, his eyes stayed on it.
The painting featured the girl’s side profile, amidst a sunflower field at sunset, smelling the flowers with an expression of sweet warmth.
The starting price was ten thousand, and gradually people bid higher.
Audrey Sutton knew a bit about the painting’s author, not deeply familiar, yet as an art student, they all knew this person; she was telling Shane Warner about the painter’s story when suddenly she heard a voice beside her: "Four hundred thousand."
Audrey Sutton was momentarily stunned, the previous bid was "one hundred thousand," as she felt surprised, everyone’s gaze turned towards them, and she saw her third brother, holding a paddle, clearly the one who bid "four hundred thousand."
Though the painter was notable, splashing four hundred thousand on a decorative painting seemed extravagant to many.
In the midst of discussions, no one bid, and the painting was sold at a price far exceeding expectations.
"Congratulations, Mr. Arthur Sutton with number nine on successfully purchasing ’The Floral Girl’ by Wayne Archer."
Audrey Sutton asked Arthur Sutton, "Third brother, you also like Mr. Archer’s paintings?"
Arthur Sutton softly lowered his eyes towards Audrey Sutton, with a gentle smile, he answered, "Not familiar."
Audrey Sutton paused, so it wasn’t for Wayne Archer’s work, but rather the content of this painting.
"Could it be the girl in the painting looks like your dream girl who’s possibly non-existent?"
Arthur Sutton laughed quietly, seeming to agree.
Audrey Sutton spoke to him, "Third brother, are you just making up a girl to avoid blind dates?"
Arthur Sutton laughed, his voice faintly carrying a trace of determination, "I will find her."
Audrey Sutton felt her third brother was already deeply obsessed; she didn’t understand his insistence or feelings, so she didn’t say more.
After all, it was rare for her third brother to have something he liked; four hundred thousand is just four hundred thousand, since the family’s money was all earned by him.
