Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 125: Couple Avatars
Having solved the mystery of Shane Warner’s avatar and figured out his previous gaming partner, Audrey Sutton was in high spirits.
Now, whenever she thought of the phrase "five pigs on the opposite side," she couldn’t help but chuckle even while walking down the street; just thinking about it was hilarious.
The rare weekend also boasted good weather, so Audrey took a stroll to the supermarket near the hotel, buying some drawing paper and paints, and then—coincidentally—ended up in the snacks aisle.
While standing by the shelf selecting potato chips, she suddenly noticed someone approaching.
Supermarket being a public place, it’s normal for someone to come over to select items too, but the strange thing was that this person was standing far too close to her.
Moreover, usually, people stand beside each other, but this person was almost right behind her, reaching for the exact same bag of chips that Audrey had picked.
Audrey quickly turned around to check on the person, and it turned out he was quite tall, wearing a baseball cap, with a pair of captivating eyes looking down at her electrifyingly.
Seeing who it was, Audrey furrowed her brows but before she could speak, Simon Sue put a finger to his lips, signaling her to be quiet: "Shhh, it’s the weekend and I don’t want to be surrounded by female fans."
Audrey stepped back to size him up and asked, "Why are you following me?"
Simon smiled, reached out, took down the bag of chips Audrey had just picked, casually placing it into Audrey’s shopping cart, and said with a light smile: "Just happened to see you, so came over to say hi, did you like the flowers the other day?"
Audrey looked at him like he was insane; she didn’t know if it was Simon’s flirtatious eyes or his ambiguous tone, but the only thought in her mind was—Simon had some intentions towards her.
She didn’t show Simon a friendly face, picked up the bag of chips from her cart and placed it back on the shelf, looking at him warningly: "Don’t try to cozy up with me, we’re not that close."
With that, she turned with her cart and left.
Simon, however, calmly followed alongside her, saying: "A perfect opportunity like this, you don’t want to take a photo with me? Or get an autograph?"
Audrey, with a fake smile, said to him: "I don’t idolize celebrities. Besides, my husband is way more handsome!"
"Well...do I not look a bit familiar to you?"
Audrey scrutinized him, thinking he was about to start with some cheesy pick-up lines, rolled her eyes, and quickened her pace with the cart.
Simon didn’t follow but watched her departing figure with a meaningful smile.
After Audrey walked a bit further, she deliberately turned back to check, and only when she confirmed Simon hadn’t followed did she breathe a sigh of relief.
Knowing Simon was around, Audrey lost the mood to continue shopping, went straight to the checkout counter, and booked a cab back to the hotel.
She didn’t keep her distance from Simon because she truly disliked him; instead, she found him good-looking. Audrey felt he was exactly like one of her manga characters come to life.
The main reason was that she found online that Simon had some interactions with Clarissa Morgan, making Audrey cautious in case Simon was sent by Clarissa to sabotage her marriage with Shane Warner.
Back in the hotel, she watched some TV, then spent quite a bit of time taking photos of General and Pea with her phone, picked a few good ones, and posted them on her social media with the caption: Big warm guy and little tsundere.
Then she even changed her avatar to a picture of Pea.
In fact, she thought this picture and the one of General were perfect for couple avatars, but she didn’t have the guts to directly ask Shane to change to a couple avatar with her.
The thought of the avatar made Audrey cover her mouth and laugh again.
She had always wondered what the mysterious "five" in his avatar meant, and now that she knew, it seemed even sillier.
While she was inwardly mocking him, a red "1" appeared on his avatar, and Audrey clicked the message immediately. It was a voice message from him: "Have you finished your homework?"
Audrey replied: "I don’t have any homework. What are you doing? Are you busy?"
He typed a single word back: Okay.
It was almost five o’clock, so Audrey said: "I’ll come over now, and we can go to that steak place for dinner tonight."
Like always, Audrey walked General over to Shane Warner’s company.
As she reached the ground floor of the company and was messaging Shane, she suddenly noticed that the "five" avatar that always made her laugh was gone.
When she saw his avatar had changed to a picture of General, Audrey immediately covered her mouth and giggled.
Could it be they were in sync?
Now they technically had couple avatars, right? Even if he maybe just thought the picture of General was nice and used it, for Audrey, seeing their chat like this felt much warmer.
After the excitement, she sent a voice message: "I’m already here, how much longer will you be?"
Two or three minutes passed with no response from him. She looked around the company, debating whether to wait for him in his office, then saw him coming out of the building.
General wagged his tail enthusiastically upon seeing him, running a couple of steps forward.
As Shane got closer, she could still see his face was a bit swollen, so Audrey asked: "Is your face...better?"
Shane gave her a sideways glance, annoyed by her bringing up what’s best left alone.
While having dinner, they bumped into Faye Xavier and Luc, who, clueless or intentionally, insisted on joining their table.
The perfect candlelight dinner was ruined by the two.
"Sister-in-law, what happened to Master Shane’s face? Is it self-inflicted or domestic violence?" Faye Xavier teased, picking at the sore spot.
Audrey awkwardly smiled and glanced at Shane, whose expression was as dark as charcoal.
Luc backed up Faye: "Sister-in-law, you must be strong, did you train?" 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Faye nodded in agreement: "Not many can lay a hand on Master Shane, even fewer can hit him in the face and get away with it, maybe only you, sister-in-law."
Audrey chuckled dryly, tacitly admitting she was the one who did it. She couldn’t possibly say it was because of her second brother’s mistaken jealous rage, right?
Then the joke would just be another punchline for Faye and Luc against Shane Warner.
"By the way, Master Shane, why’d you borrow my game account last night? Flirting with girls?"
Luc, ever the troublemaker, smirked and asked: "Sister-in-law, did you know about this?"
Audrey laughed while explaining for Shane: "He was just playing with me."
Faye exaggeratedly said: "No wonder! I wondered why he wouldn’t play when we called, but suddenly asked for my account last night. Turns out it was to accompany sister-in-law."
Luc added: "Master Shane, you’re so busy, you should let us take care of sister-in-law in the game."
That’s when Shane coldly chimed in: "Since you’re so free, how about doing some overtime tonight?"
Faye and Luc exchanged glances, quickly shifting the topic: "Hey, look at those streetlights, they’re quite bright, huh?"
Luc nodded with great seriousness: "Indeed bright, the quality of these bulbs is good."
Audrey laughed, thinking to herself that those two really knew they were the third wheel.
