Chapter 112: Chapter 112: You Really Don’t Miss Me?

In front of the cameras, Shane held Audrey Sutton protectively in his arms, silently expressing his defense of her.

"Mr. Warner, aren’t you afraid that by indulging Miss Sutton like this, she’ll cheat on you?"

Shane smirked coldly and looked at the journalist asking the question, saying, "I don’t think she’d look at another man after being with me, unless she’s blind."

Audrey Sutton: "..."

She couldn’t tell if he was clearing her name, being narcissistic, or subtly insulting her.

The key point was, words like these might be just empty boasts coming from others, but when Shane said them, it left these people speechless.

"If I see any reports about this matter half an hour later, the lawyers’ letters will reach your news agencies by the afternoon at the latest."

With that said, Shane led Audrey Sutton into the car, and the media didn’t dare to pester them any longer, rushing to contact their colleagues to quickly delete the reports.

The storm had somewhat passed, but with such rumors, the internet naturally buzzed with all kinds of voices and speculations.

Ultimately, those who believe you will naturally trust you, while those who have prejudice will forever question your character.

Shane dropped Audrey Sutton off at the teaching building, saying sternly, "My flight to Paris is this afternoon, don’t create any trouble for me."

Audrey Sutton nodded, unable to resist asking him, "Leaving this afternoon? That’s so sudden."

"I just got the call this morning, and it’s uncertain how many days I’ll be gone. Are you heading home? If so, I’ll take General and Pea there later."

Audrey Sutton thought for a moment and asked, "Can I invite Flora and the others to stay over?"

"Just don’t invite any men."

"Would I dare?"

Shane caught the nuance in her words, saying, "Does that mean you have the idea but just don’t dare to act on it?"

Audrey Sutton quickly shook her head, "I wouldn’t even dare to think about it."

Shane snorted, turned around, and got into the car, driving away.

Audrey Sutton stood there watching his car drive off into the distance before heading inside the teaching building.

She had become accustomed to him going on business trips for several days at a time, and she would invite Flora and the others over for company, never feeling lonely or scared.

What bothered her was that the following night, she saw the latest post on Clarissa Morgan’s X, discovering that Clarissa had also gone to Paris.

When she saw that post, Audrey Sutton, already prepared to sleep, was lying in bed at nearly one o’clock at night.

It was evening over in Paris, so Audrey sent Shane a message asking: Are you busy today?

After sending the message, she waited for quite a while without receiving his reply.

Audrey Sutton held her phone, unable to sleep due to uneasiness.

On the large bed, four girls slept side by side, and the bed was spacious enough not to feel crowded.

Audrey waited until the others had fallen asleep, her eyes feeling sore, but she still hadn’t received Shane’s reply.

Her mind couldn’t help but conjure up all sorts of scenarios, speculating if Clarissa and Shane had planned to go together.

Are they together now? What are they doing?

She had a nightmare that night, waking up from it before six o’clock in the morning.

In the dream, Clarissa was showing off, saying she was the winner, and Shane said the person he loved all along was Clarissa, and she was the one he’d marry.

Even after waking up and realizing it was just a dream, Audrey Sutton still felt uneasy.

Normally when her alarm rang, she’d want to sleep a bit longer, but now, awake, she couldn’t fall back asleep.

She reached for the phone that had fallen on the pillow after dozing off waiting for his reply, hoping it would have a response when she woke up, but there wasn’t even a new message.

After all this time, how could he not have seen her message?

Audrey sighed softly, picked up her phone, and quietly got out of bed, heading downstairs to the living room. Sitting on the couch in hesitation, she sent another message: What are you up to?

"If a person blown away by the wind says his love isn’t deep~"

Hardly a few seconds after sending, she was startled by the phone ringing with his call, hesitating before answering it.

Before Audrey could speak, his voice came through first, "Up so early today?"

Audrey swallowed, naturally unwilling to say she woke from a nightmare about him, stammering to explain, "Went to sleep early last night... so I woke up now."

"I don’t believe you guys could sleep that early together."

Audrey laughed awkwardly, attempting to change the subject, "...Isn’t it night there? Why aren’t you sleeping?"

"Just lay down when your message came."

Audrey pressed her lips and asked, "Didn’t you see the message I sent yesterday or were you too busy to reply?" 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

Over the phone, she heard him laugh lightly, instead asking, "Are you worried about me or missing me?"

"I..." Audrey thought, saying she worried was not okay, saying she missed him was even worse, "I was worried about your safety out there. Boys should take care of themselves outside.

Shane: "..."

"And you’ve gone so long without replying, I started thinking something might’ve happened to you."

Finally, Shane explained, "Finished work and then saw your message, calculated that it was too late your time, didn’t want to disturb your rest, so I didn’t reply."

He paused, then asked, "So you’ve been worried all night hence not sleeping well?"

"...Who said that?! I told you I slept early last night, naturally waking now."

Shane chuckled softly, the laughter reaching Audrey’s ear.

Her face blushed slightly, momentarily silent before saying, "...Then rest early, as long as you’re fine."

"Hmm."

Followed by a pause, neither hung up the call.

"Honestly not missing me?" He asked after a while.

Audrey abruptly snapped back, confidently saying, "Not missing!"

And quickly ended the call.

Due to the time difference, he often couldn’t reply to her messages as promptly as before.

However, after a good sleep, Audrey would always find his response.

Shane had initially avoided replying to her at night to prevent disturbance, only later realizing by not replying he was more disturbing her rest.

This business trip lasted longer than Audrey expected, spanning past September, so long he returned after she was on her National Day holiday.

Audrey also kept discreetly checking Clarissa’s X, noticing she was still in Paris throughout this period, updating her post when Shane returned home.

Audrey knew that given Clarissa’s personality, she must’ve actively sought out Shane, so they certainly met while abroad.

Yet she was willing to trust Shane; Clarissa actively pursued and he couldn’t control her actions, but he surely knew how to manage himself well.
