Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 111: Do You Really Not Love the Third Young Master?
As soon as he asked about yesterday afternoon, Audrey Sutton had a bad feeling.
"Answer me." He seemed dissatisfied with her hesitation and silence, urging her.
Audrey was so frightened by his demeanor and tone that she didn’t dare to speak, feeling for the first time how terrifying he could be.
Without waiting for her answer, Shane Warner slightly straightened his posture, threw the newspaper in front of her, and looked at her with an interrogative gaze, waiting for her explanation.
Audrey looked down at the large-font headline in the newspaper and couldn’t help but twitch her mouth.
Headline: Third Young Master Warner’s wife secretly meets with a mixed-race handsome man.
Displayed prominently below was a photo of Audrey Sutton having lunch with Spencer Forrest at a music restaurant yesterday afternoon.
Judging by the angle of the picture, it seemed like it was taken secretly from somewhere opposite the restaurant.
Upon closely examining the copy below, it mentioned claims like hollow marriages, on the surface loving but secretly playing separately, pure appearance but actually promiscuous, and other descriptions.
"Don’t you have anything to say?" 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
Audrey pressed her lips together and explained weakly, "...It’s all nonsense."
Shane Warner’s eyes were filled with shadows, and though his tone seemed gentle, it sent chills down one’s spine: "I don’t care what they wrote, I just want to know why you lied."
"I was afraid you’d be angry." Audrey uneasily fiddled with her fingers, fearing he wouldn’t believe her.
"If you’re afraid of making me angry, then don’t do things that anger me!"
Audrey lowered her head without saying a word, demonstrating a good attitude of admitting her mistake.
Shane Warner naturally didn’t believe the fabricated things in the report; his anger was merely because she had lied to him.
"What were you doing with him?"
"He just wanted to talk to me about the movie poster, that’s all, really."
Shane Warner stared at her for a few seconds, exhaled helplessly, and said, "I’ll go to school with you later."
Audrey nodded, knowing the school was probably once again bombarded with reporters.
If Shane Warner didn’t step in, she truly didn’t know how to handle it.
This whole mess was surely the work of Clarissa Morgan.
Fortunately, Shane Warner wasn’t blinded by anger. Though angry, he still believed in her innocence.
Shane Warner was anything but discreet, as if afraid the reporters wouldn’t spot him, he drove his little Rolls Royce to the school.
Outside the school gates, media friends immediately surrounded the little Rolls Royce.
Audrey, sitting in the passenger seat, didn’t dare to roll down the window and swallowed nervously, scared by the formation outside.
She had only seen such scenes on TV and never imagined she would one day personally experience them.
Calmly, Shane Warner pushed open the car door, and countless microphones and cameras were instantly squeezed forward.
"Third Young Master, what is your take on the claims of your wife’s alleged infidelity in the reports?"
"Is your marriage really just a facade?"
"Has your display of affection always been just for show?"
...
Ignorant of these questions, Shane Warner silently walked around the vehicle to the other door.
The imposing aura he exuded instinctively made way for a path through the crowd surrounding him.
Shane Warner opened the car door and helped Audrey Sutton out.
Facing the swarming reporters again, he sheltered her under his arm.
"Miss Sutton, some media captured you eating alone with a male. How do you respond to this?"
"Do you really not love Third Young Master? Or are you dissatisfied with your current marriage?"
"Third Young Master, do you condone separate activities within your marriage, or are you unaware of your wife’s alleged infidelity?"
Hearing this, Audrey couldn’t help but retort, "I did not cheat."
A bespectacled female reporter immediately pressed further: "Then how do you explain the photo in the report, Miss Sutton?"
Nervous, Audrey’s voice trembled slightly: "He’s just a friend, we were merely having a meal."
"Is it necessary for ordinary friends to dine alone in such a restaurant?" The bespectacled female reporter’s tone was somewhat aggressive, as if itching to seize this opportunity to crush Audrey.
Seeing the microphone almost reaching her face, Audrey subconsciously moved closer to Shane Warner.
"You can ask me this question directly." From outside the crowd came a light voice.
All the gazes turned in that direction, and it was none other than today’s gossip headliner—Spencer Forrest.
Earlier, the photos in the reports were relatively blurry, without revealing the identity and background of Audrey Sutton’s so-called "cheating partner," merely indulging in extensive coverage of an alleged high-profile marriage dispute.
At this moment, as Spencer Forrest appeared in the camera, some recognized him as a famous animated film director.
Some journalist friends hadn’t even reacted or switched the camera in time before Spencer Forrest walked in and said, "Seeing this morning’s report, I believe I have a responsibility to clear things up for Miss Sutton."
As the attention turned to Spencer Forrest, Shane Warner asked Audrey Sutton somewhat dissatisfiedly in a low voice, "Did you call him here?"
Audrey hurriedly shook her head, also bewildered as she looked at the suddenly appeared Spencer Forrest.
Shane Warner’s expression of displeasure was because he felt Spencer Forrest was stealing his hero moment with Audrey.
Spencer Forrest smiled handsomely at the microphone in front of the camera: "I carefully read today’s report, and except for the words ’mixed-race handsome man’ being true, the rest are something one might read like a novel. Miss Sutton, Mr. Warner, and I are friends, and Mr. Warner and I have known each other for years. I didn’t expect having a meal between friends could stir up such a commotion."
The bespectacled female reporter sharply asked: "Is it really just as simple as a meal between ordinary friends? It’s said that you and Mrs. Warner have been meeting frequently lately, each time alone, why has Third Young Master never joined you if you’ve nothing to hide?"
Spencer Forrest unhurriedly replied: "Now that it’s come to this point, I might as well use this opportunity to promote my own movie."
While speaking, Spencer Forrest took out his phone, displayed information about his upcoming film to the camera, and said, "This is my new movie coming out in mid-October. The reason I frequently arranged meetings with Miss Sutton was to invite her to create promotional posters for the movie. There are still many details that need amendments, so we met multiple times. It’s a professional matter and given Mr. Warner’s own busy work schedule, Miss Sutton is an adult capable of thinking and handling situations herself. I imagine it unnecessary to bother Third Young Master and have him accompany her each time for such a trivial matter, right?"
After hearing Spencer Forrest’s words, the reporters seemed unable to find fault, and instead, they handed the microphone back to Shane Warner: "Third Young Master, given this explanation, do you believe Miss Sutton and this gentleman are innocent?"
