Mr. Sterling, Mrs. Sterling is Multifaceted!-Chapter 304: She Has Always Liked You
Ethan Sterling felt her movement, glanced up at her, and then coldly said into the phone, "Tell Ryan Sterling, if he wants to see me lose completely, he’ll have to wait for the next life."
"Yes."
Responded Nathan Ayers.
"By the way, is Selena Quinn at the manor? Make sure to detain her."
As Ethan spoke, he felt a slight tug on his little finger. Seraphina Redgrave pointed towards the floor, and Ethan instantly understood her meaning. He immediately added, "Bring her directly here."
"Miss Sterling?"
Nathan Ayers was puzzled and clearly unaware of how Selena Quinn was involved. After thinking for a moment, he said, "Speaking of which, I haven’t seen Miss Sterling."
Seraphina’s gaze sharpened, "She must have escaped."
Selena Quinn was frail in appearance, but her mind worked quickly. Once she realized Seraphina wasn’t dead, she must have figured out who the real culprit was. It’s even possible she confessed everything to Ethan, which is why she ran away.
Even Ethan, who initially found Seraphina’s suspicions unlikely, frowned upon hearing about the escape, a hint of annoyance in his eyes. "Search for her, and make sure Selena Quinn is brought back."
"Yes."
Nathan Ayers responded immediately without any delay, and added, "Young Master Sterling, after I complete your orders, I’ll come to you to accept my punishment."
He hadn’t forgotten what he’d done to Ethan before.
Whether Ethan heard him or not was unknown, as he didn’t respond but simply hung up the call.
After putting down the phone, Ethan looked up at Seraphina, his eyes filled with complexity.
"Tsk, now you finally believe it?"
Seraphina mocked.
Men, huh.
Always less observant than women.
"..."
Ethan was choked up by her words, unable to even ask the questions he had.
Seraphina walked over, sat beside him, cupped his face, and they stared into each other’s eyes. She said, word by word, "Ethan, she’s always liked you. That’s why she secretly plotted against me but didn’t conspire with your father to deal with you." 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
"What?"
Ethan hadn’t considered this possibility at all.
"Unexpected, right? Your dear sister, who seems weak and timid, but eager to help others, was actually crafting plans all along. Ever since I appeared at your manor, she’s been keeping an eye on me."
Seraphina continued, "I suspected before that Lena Lynch dared to drive into me possibly because Selena Quinn instigated her. That’s the only explanation why Mia Redgrave ended up in Selena’s grasp suddenly since she intended to use Mia to control Lena, preventing Lena from exposing her as the mastermind. This way, everything else makes sense."
"..."
Ethan’s gaze gradually turned cold, filled with hostility.
"And that time Beatrice Fawcett was ambushed during the competition, it seemed like Caleb Crawford’s assassins were behind it on the surface. But why did she suddenly appear that day and conveniently block an arrow for you? There’s only one explanation—the assassin was sent by her."
Seraphina steadily laid out her analysis for Ethan, connecting all the dots. "Selena Quinn’s usual tactic is to use others to achieve her goals while keeping herself clean, then later act like an innocent to comfort the victims."
"So what you’re saying is that she’s already tried to harm you, attempting to kill you." Although Ethan was asking Seraphina, his tone was affirmative.
"Yes."
Seraphina nodded.
With a sudden motion, Ethan turned over and sat up on the bed. The exertion pulled at his wounds, causing excruciating pain. He pressed his hand to his chest, then picked up the phone and dialed Nathan Ayers once more.
The moment the call connected, before Nathan could speak, Ethan instructed, "Ensure that Selena Quinn is captured. Watch all transportation channels in the Z nation carefully. Even if she gets on a plane, make the plane turn back."
"..."
"If she escapes, you might want to consider your own affairs afterward."
With that, he hung up the phone and set it aside, looking at Seraphina with a probing gaze, "Such a serious matter, and you’re only telling me now."
"These are just my speculations, without any solid evidence."
Seraphina stood up, placed her hands on his shoulders, trying to get him to lie down and rest, while adding, "Besides, wasn’t it someone said before that his sister was timid and weak, not bold enough to do such things?"
Upon hearing those words, Ethan instinctively wanted to retort but suddenly seemed to understand something. He smiled, looking at Seraphina, "Seraphina, are you jealous."
His dear friend was becoming more and more adorable.
"No, I’m just envious of how well you two siblings understand each other."
"You’re jealous."
Ethan pulled Seraphina over, making her sit by his side, hooked her chin with his finger, and leaned in to leave his mark on her lips.
"Rest assured, no other woman is worth more than a glance from me, except you."
"Well, I’m truly honored," Seraphina said with a wry smile.
"Hm, no need to thank me so much," Ethan said proudly.
"..."
Seraphina was speechless at his words, wanting to smother him with a pillow so he would stop talking altogether.
...
Two days later.
Seraphina didn’t know how the weather was in the city, but it had poured at the private villa.
With the recent rain, the whole villa seemed shrouded in mist, and the distant mountains were hard to distinguish.
But certain exotic flowers and plants around appeared even more vibrant in this setting.
Looking down from upstairs, this place resembled a fairyland.
Seraphina thought it was a lovely retirement sanctuary as she held a cup of warm water, with goji berries carefully prepared by Nanny Lynch floating on top.
She took a sip, feeling her stomach warm and comfortable.
Down in the yard, someone was kneeling—it was Nathan Ayers.
His clothes were soaked by rain, making him look battered, yet he knelt upright at the entrance.
No extra expression on his face, he still seemed spirited, but his occasional cough revealed his weakness.
Seraphina put down the glass of water, turned, and walked into the room, only to find the person inside had vanished.
The damned man...
Seraphina sighed, then turned to head downstairs, only to see the man who should have been resting in bed sitting on the sofa, coldly questioning Nanny Lynch, who stood trembling before him, about where she’d been.
"Why are you so disobedient, getting out of bed again."
Seraphina looked at the wound on his forehead, wishing she could handcuff him to the bed to stop him from running everywhere all the time.
