Chapter 300: Chapter 300: My Heart Belongs to Him

Just as the words fell, a tall figure emerged from behind a nearby large tree.

The man had changed his clothes. The fitted black fabric clung to his muscles, and the loose camouflage pants exuded a wild aura.

Hector Shaw walked slowly towards her, taking off the glasses from his nose, and smiled at her, "Just as I expected, you guessed I would still be here."

When Hector Shaw stepped over a piece of deadwood in front of him, his leg lifted somewhat stiffly, more awkward than normal people.

Back then, he was caught in a power struggle, ambushed, and the tendon in his right foot was brutally severed. By the time he arrived at Veridian Isle, he was barely alive, and it was Seraphina Redgrave who saved his life.

Later, he returned to the South and found someone to repair the tendon. Though it was repaired, it left a permanent scar.

Seraphina Redgrave looked at his leg without mockery or disdain, casually discussing something as ordinary as can be, "You walk quite naturally now."

Upon hearing this, Hector Shaw chuckled, "After all, I spent a lot of time training. If I couldn’t walk well, I wouldn’t be Hector Shaw."

He stood still before her, his beautiful eyes quietly gazing at Seraphina Redgrave as if he could never get enough.

After a while, his eyes held a touch of pain, speaking bitterly, "It’s been hard these days, hasn’t it?"

"Not too bad, but I’ve survived."

She didn’t care much about her own suffering.

"Then let’s go quickly. Once it gets completely dark, it won’t be convenient. My car is parked not far away, I’ll take you there."

Hector Shaw extended his hand to her, "If your injury isn’t too severe, we should leave right away. By this time tomorrow, we’ll be in the South."

Seraphina Redgrave stood still, unmoved, and Hector Shaw sensed her attitude, his lips pressing downward.

Seraphina Redgrave handed over the stack of white papers she held to Hector Shaw. He received them somewhat puzzled, and the more he flipped through, the graver his expression became.

It was Ethan Sterling’s medical examination report.

According to the report, Ethan Sterling had suffered inhuman beatings, with deep and shallow bruises covering 70% of his body.

Three ribs fractured, shinbone broken, left index fingernail crushed, and...

Hector Shaw looked incredulously at Seraphina Redgrave, shocked, "Is Miles Harrington insane?! How could he treat his patron like this?"

"It’s not Miles Harrington." Ethan Sterling directly shook his head, "Nathan Ayers and Miles Harrington only stopped visible traffic, but they didn’t prohibit refugee ships."

"!" Hector Shaw’s eyes widened in surprise, recalling Ethan Sterling’s incongruous attire when he first saw him at The Directorate’s office, indeed unusual, never expecting he returned by refugee ship.

"No wonder he was so disheveled. If so, he truly treated you quite well."

More than just quite well.

After speaking, Hector Shaw suddenly realized something, asking, "So why are you showing me this?"

"I’m not planning to leave anymore, you should go back."

Then, Seraphina Redgrave explained her plan with Ethan Sterling and Miles Harrington to Hector Shaw.

"So, are you now planning to live out your life under the identity of a dead person, staying forever at this private manor until you die of old age?"

Hector Shaw could hardly believe this was something Seraphina Redgrave would do, "You’ve already spent two free years on Veridian Isle, are you going to forego the decades you have left at this manor?"

"It’s not actually bad like this. At least I’ve survived. Had I not done this, I might have already died by now."

Seraphina Redgrave looked at her wrist, the wounds there covered by Dr. Goodwin’s bandages.

"But you could also return to the South with me. We can start planning anew, and you can rebuild your Veridian Isle."

Hector Shaw’s pace quickened, exposing her urgency, "Originally, you insisted on coming to Sovereign because no one knew your identity here. You had many opportunities, but it’s different now. Everyone knows Seraphina Redgrave. If you stay here, you can only be a puppet at the mercy of others, never leave the manor. Any mistake, and the Z country’s tycoons will hunt you down."

"..."

"But in the South, it’s different. My place is ten thousand miles away from Sovereign, even if their hands were longer, they couldn’t reach there. Whether you want to make money or develop a force, it’s the best place for you."

Hector Shaw continued to persuade, "Once you’re strong enough one day, you can return to Sovereign and give those who have hurt you a fierce blow. Isn’t that more exhilarating?"

Hector Shaw truly knew her well, having known her from Veridian Isle, understanding her nature and what life she desired.

"Hector Shaw, no need to say more. Since I’ve already made the decision, it won’t change."

Seraphina Redgrave drew the examination report back from his hand, holding it tightly.

The mountain breeze brought a slight chill.

"Is it just because of this stack of papers?" Hector Shaw was utterly confused, "You mustn’t think that Ethan Sterling was injured so badly to save you that you owe him, and you need to repay him this way?"

"If you’re really troubled by this, let me talk to him. As long as he allows you to leave, I’ll turn over the Shaw Family’s intelligence network."

This was a generous offer.

Seraphina Redgrave, tired from standing, walked to a nearby stone to lean on.

Hector Shaw followed closely, waiting for her answer.

"Hector Shaw, have you never dated anyone?" Seraphina Redgrave asked abruptly.

"..."

Hector Shaw’s cheeks turned pink, and he pointed to his leg, self-deprecating, "Isn’t that obvious? Who would want a cripple like me."

"To hear such words from the renowned Sect Leader of the Shaw Family, it’s truly..." Seraphina Redgrave laughed, "But since you haven’t dated anyone, it’s understandable that you wouldn’t understand."

"..."

From her tone, it seemed as though she had transformed from a novice in love into an expert.

"Once, I was like you. Ethan Sterling took me away from Veridian Isle, and I remembered this favor. Later, he helped me wash my stomach, and I added another favor to the list. After that, he took an arrow for me, and I added another favor. I was just waiting for the day when he faced a difficult situation so I could repay all those favors."

Leaning against the stone, she watched the darkening sky, "However, when he appeared before me this time, covered in injuries, I realized the favors between us couldn’t be tallied anymore, and relationships between a man and a woman can’t be calculated this way."

"Then how should it be calculated?"

Hector Shaw truly didn’t understand.

"He did all this, hoping I’d fall in love with him, for my heart to belong to him alone. Only by doing this could the debt be cleared."

Seraphina Redgrave understood now, thankfully not too late, and was willing to let her heart belong solely to him.
