Mr. Sterling, Mrs. Sterling is Multifaceted!-Chapter 259: A Gift for You
"Tch," Ethan Sterling was rather displeased.
"In a few days, I’ll be giving a speech. It’s my first time, but I have confidence that it will be a success, and I’ll only get better," Seraphina Redgrave’s eyes sparkled with enthusiasm.
"Regardless of how well you do, I’ll be going abroad in a few days, so I won’t be able to hear it," Ethan said, lifting Seraphina slightly. The corners of his pressed lips betrayed his inner emotions.
Despite saying he didn’t care, he had already secretly noted the timing of her speech.
Seraphina encircled her arms around Ethan’s neck and suddenly asked, "Ethan, can I visit your private estate?"
"What do you want to go there for?" Ethan didn’t understand the connection between the two things.
The estate was specially built for his sister and mother, and ordinarily, others weren’t allowed there.
"I want to give you a gift, and I need to go to the estate to prepare it."
Seraphina recalled the progress of her wood carving. It was indeed slow, but since Ethan was going abroad, she could use the time to practice diligently and should be able to complete it before he returned.
"A gift?"
The unpleasant tone in Ethan’s voice vanished completely, his change of mood was astonishingly quick. "Why do you have to go to the estate for that?"
Why not just give him the gift directly? Such a fuss.
"So, can you let me in?" Seraphina countered.
"The gift you’re giving won’t involve cleaning my sister and mother’s graves, right?" Ethan frowned.
"Well, you can think that way if you want," Seraphina said, unwilling to disclose more. "You’ll see when you get back."
"Alright, just make sure you don’t mess around," Ethan finally agreed, albeit reluctantly. But from his expression, it was evident he was in a good mood.
A gift.
The little ungrateful finally knows to repay him.
Seraphina asked again, "Then, can I touch their tombstones?"
In fact, she wasn’t sure if the wood carving would involve the tombstones.
"If you’re allowed in, you can touch whatever you want."
Ethan blurted out without thinking. After speaking, he realized he might have been a bit too indulgent with Seraphina.
That place was originally his deepest boundary.
Oh well.
This wasn’t the first or second time he spoiled her, so one more time wouldn’t matter.
"Okay," Seraphina felt relieved, resting her head on his shoulder and became silent again.
After a while, as Seraphina started to feel a bit tired, she buried her head in his shoulder, letting Ethan lead the way as she followed his direction.
The night air was a bit chilly.
Seraphina gently closed her eyes, leaning her weight entirely on Ethan.
"I’m not like Melody Lockwood."
After some time, Ethan said something like that.
She had initially closed her eyes, enjoying the serene beauty, and suddenly, with Ethan speaking, she could feel the vibration in his throat.
She slowly opened her eyes and heard Ethan continue, "She doesn’t see a future, but I do."
She had always been his future from the very start.
...
The weather was great, the sun bright and lovely.
It was a perfect day for a plane flight.
A spacious tarmac bore a massive white private jet, surrounded by bodyguards.
Nathan Ayers stood silently by the door, checking his watch for the umpteenth time.
It was now the second hour of Miss Redgrave seeing off.
Why was it taking so long? Usually, others could wrap up these goodbyes in less than two minutes.
Unable to resist, Nathan turned to see what was happening but couldn’t discern much.
It was Seraphina’s first time on Ethan’s private jet. The interior design was absolutely unrivaled, extremely luxurious. One could say the setup was grander than The Presidential Palace without exaggeration.
The plane had Ethan’s private flight attendant, serving expensive-looking dishes on the table.
Seraphina sat on a sofa by the dining table, a sofa that conformed exceptionally to human structure, exceedingly comfortable.
She sipped a cup of coffee brought by the attendant. As soon as she put down the cup, Ethan placed a tender, juicy steak at her lips.
"..."
Seraphina felt quite helpless at the moment.
Ethan was leaving for work abroad today and had asked her to see him off. Seraphina didn’t mind and came along.
At the door of the plane, Ethan mentioned a world-class chef was on board, inviting her to try his dishes.
Seeing it was still early, Seraphina didn’t refuse and boarded the plane.
But who would’ve thought, with such tiny portions and the time it took for the chef to cook?
Just like this steak, the portion was incredibly small; with a single fork, Ethan devoured two-thirds of it at once.
In two hours, Seraphina remembered every bite and taste vividly. There were only three dishes in total; impossible to forget.
Such small portions barely filled a gap in her teeth; no eating at all might have been better.
"You’ll be on the plane for so long, eat for yourself, no need to worry about me. I’ll eat later," Seraphina said, sipping her coffee again.
"As if I don’t know your appetite. Are these tiny things enough for you?" Ethan raised a golden fork with juicy beef, offering it to her lips.
"Come on, be good, and open your mouth."
"Shouldn’t you be leaving?" Seraphina tried changing the subject.
"There’s no rush, wait until you’re full." Taking advantage of her speaking, Ethan slipped the beef into her mouth, watching her eat with satisfaction.
"..."
She never realized Ethan enjoyed feeding others.
Chewing on the beef, although the cooking speed was slow, and the portions small, she had to admit, the food was delicious.
Putting down her coffee cup, swallowing the last bit of food, Seraphina said, "Alright, I’m really done. There’s such a long flight ahead, take your time eating."
Flying from Z Nation to Y Nation took about 18 hours. Taking time to eat leisurely wouldn’t overstuff, quite good in fact.
"Are you sure?" Ethan looked at his fork, mildly displeased.
"Yeah, I’m done." Seraphina straightened up, ready to leave after saying so.
Unexpectedly, Ethan said, "Then come here, let me hug you for a while."
"?" It was as if Ethan acted like they wouldn’t see each other again, a bit exaggerated.
Seraphina sighed but didn’t refuse Ethan’s request, or rather, demand.
Slowly, she moved over, obediently nestling into his arms.
Ethan was content, holding Seraphina, gently kissing her forehead. "Remember to keep your phone on, call me at least three times a day, and always answer my calls."
"Alright," Seraphina promised.
Every time Ethan went abroad, he gave these instructions and now she could anticipate his next words by heart.
