Mr. Mu Proposed Again Today-Chapter 116 - Banquet 2_1
Chapter 116: Chapter 116 Banquet 2_1
Chapter 116 -116 Banquet 2_1
“Slacking off again?” Kang Xiaolan assumed the stance of a headstrong boss.
“What do you mean slacking off? We’re just taking a break,” Ji Hua spread his hands.
“Yeah, you women will never understand how tiring it is for men,” Mu Chuyang began to lament life—specifically, the lives of men.
Su Wanxia and the others were immediately covered in metaphorical black lines.
Even hosting guests brought out their existential musings—these guys really were a rare breed.
“Hard at work, I see. Here, have a drink,” Su Wanxia poured two glasses of wine and placed them in front of the men.
“Hehe, Wanxia, aren’t you being a bit too ostentatious today?” Mu Chuyang teased, eyeing Su Wanxia.
Su Wanxia rolled her eyes; it looked like she really was the center of attention today.
“But ever since you came, my big brother has been over the moon,” Ji Hua teased, drawing out his words too.
“Aren’t you two idle, with so many guests still waiting to be entertained? See how Kang Xiaolan does it—nothing like you two who always slack off.”
“Yes, while you guys are resting here, my family’s Feng must be even more tired by now. Get moving!” Kang Xiaolan barked ferociously.
“Let’s go, let’s go. This woman has such a bad temper when she’s pregnant.”
“Xiaoning, we can’t be like her in the future,” Ji Hua rose to his feet, criticizing Kang Xiaolan and gesturing Gong Yining not to follow her example.
Kang Xiaolan really wanted to take off her shoe and throw it at him, to see if he’d still be so mouthy.
Gong Yining’s face turned red all of a sudden, and she shyly lowered her head.
What was he saying? Honestly.
Mu Chuyang laughed heartily and then pulled Ji Hua away with him.
“Hey? Yining, how did you fall for him back then?” Kang Xiaolan asked, looking frustrated.
Jian Manhui kicked Kang Xiaolan lightly under the table without making a sound.
Kang Xiaolan immediately felt she had said the wrong thing, mainly because she was used to bickering with Ji Hua and momentarily forgot the things that happened between Yining and Ji Hua.
“Well, who can say for sure when it comes to romance? If you’re smitten, you’re smitten,” Yan Yirou said, ever the one with a thick skin.
But her words eased Gong Yining’s awkwardness.
As the group chatted, more people came up to toast Su Wanxia.
Su Wanxia, not wanting to refuse, held her glass and responded to each toast.
Although it was just red wine, drinking too much would still lead to intoxication.
Especially for someone like Su Wanxia, who had always had a low tolerance for alcohol.
She began to feel a bit dizzy, but her mind was still clear.
Drinking too much always leads to the restroom.
Both Yan Yirou and Su Wanxia had drunk plenty, and although Kang Xiaolan didn’t drink much, pregnant women often frequented the restroom.
The three of them went to the restroom together, and when they came out, they were confronted by Ding Nianzi and Bai Yudie in the hallway leading back to the event.
Stopping Su Wanxia essentially meant stopping Kang Xiaolan and Yan Yirou too.
Yan Yirou and Ding Nianzi never saw eye to eye, and there was always biting sarcasm whenever they met.
Meeting head-on today meant they still had to exchange dagger-like glances.
Su Wanxia was feeling dizzy, and her senses were slowly dulling under the influence of alcohol, so she didn’t want to deal with these two right now and continued to walk as if they weren’t there.
“Su Wanxia!”
Ding Nianzi couldn’t contain her impatience and called out sharply.
Su Wanxia continued to ignore them, pulling Kang Xiaolan and Yan Yirou along without looking back.
“Su Wanxia, you stop right there!” Bai Yudie suddenly called out.
“What is it?” She turned around.
“You shameless woman, how dare you show up here!” Ding Nianzi’s angry curse sounded out; she thought that with Brother Chen’s mother present, Wanxia wouldn’t dare to attend the banquet, but unexpectedly—
“Ding Nianzi, who do you think you are? It’s none of your business whether Wanxia comes here or not. Besides, she’s Mu Yingchen’s girlfriend, so it’s only right for her to be here. Why are you barking like a mad dog?” Yan Yirou had also drunk quite a bit that evening, and although she could hold her liquor better than Su Wanxia, her emotions were inevitably a bit agitated.
Hearing Ding Nianzi start cursing people out set off her explosive temper in an instant.
Ding Nianzi was caught off guard by Yan Yirou’s barrage of insults, and she couldn’t just let it slide.
She immediately took two steps forward, disregarding any ladylike image, and pointed her finger at Yan Yirou.

She snarled viciously, “Yan Yirou, who do you think you are? Do you think you have a say here?”
“Ding Nianzi!” Su Wanxia was furious at this time; she and Bai Yudie always came to hassle her, and she hadn’t retaliated against them, but today they dared to be so arrogant at Mu Yingchen’s birthday banquet.
They had even dragged Yan Yirou into it, did they really think she was a soft persimmon to be kneaded at will?
“Stop showing up in front of me with that white lotus act, it’s just disgusting!” Although her tone wasn’t loud, everyone present heard her crystal clear.
Her words included a jab at the nearby Bai Yudie as well.
“Su Wanxia, do you think just because Brother Chen said you’re his girlfriend at the banquet, you can start getting carried away?”
“Don’t forget, the person destined to spend their life with him could never be you!”
Bai Yudie wasn’t like Ding Nianzi, who could only rage and curse; she would rationally find your weak spot, then stab you hard.
No doubt, her words did twist Su Wanxia’s heart for a moment.
But it was just for a moment, because she was mentally prepared, so no matter what they said, she didn’t care.
“Say what you will, I don’t know about the future, but I only know that he loves me now, and I love him, that’s enough.” She looked intently at Bai Yudie, seemingly indifferent to her words.
Then she grabbed the stunned Kang Xiaolan and Yan Yirou next to her and walked towards the banquet hall’s entrance.
Kang Xiaolan and Yan Yirou looked at her with somewhat complicated gazes.
They always felt that Wanxia was hiding something from them.
“Su Wanxia, you are an unfilial daughter!” Bai Yudie’s voice came from behind.
Su Wanxia hesitated for a moment, then walked into the banquet hall with an expressionless face.
Back at their seats, Jian Manhui and Gong Yining asked them why a trip to the restroom took so long.
“We ran into Ding Nianzi outside,” Yan Yirou said with lingering anger.
Su Wanxia didn’t speak, just calmly sipped her drink.
One cup after another.
Bai Yudie was right, she was an unfilial daughter; her choices had put the Su Family and her mother in a perilous situation.
But she absolutely wouldn’t let anything happen to them.
“Ding Nianzi?” Jian Manhui and Gong Yining asked simultaneously.
“Yeah.”
“Hard to believe after all these years, she still hasn’t given up on Mu Yingchen,” Jian Manhui said, somewhat admiring Ding Nianzi’s persistence.
“With her personality, how could Mu Yingchen possibly like her?” Kang Xiaolan, stroking her protruding belly, said with a touch of ridicule.
What she was worried about was that white lotus, whose schemes were extraordinarily deep.
“Exactly.”
They were chattering non-stop, while Su Wanxia silently drowned her sorrows in drink.
Time slipped away, second by second.
Suddenly, Su Wanxia slammed her empty glass down on the table and shouted loudly, “Bring the wine!”
The others, who were in the midst of their discussion, turned their heads towards her and then widened their eyes in shock.
It was over—this time she was truly drunk!
