Chapter 1090: Chapter 1090: The Cool-Tempered Guy

As expected, Dean Master Moore was right; Josiah Keaton’s female assistant nearly vomited right after stepping into the laboratory, her face pale as a ghost, making him feel quite disdainful.

One person is supposed to handle all of them?

Is this it?

"Josiah, what did you see in this assistant?"

Josiah Keaton flipped through a few pages of the document and, upon hearing this, cast a glance at the droopy-looking assistant, smiling frivolously, "She looks just like the girl I like when she gets serious."

Being responsible for registering all personnel information within the base, Dean Master Moore naturally knew Josiah Keaton had been fond of a girl for a long time.

And he also knew that the girl had ensnared Josiah Keaton and then swiftly disappeared.

But honestly, even though this assistant was a bit cowardly, her eyebrow and eyes indeed resembled Josiah Keaton’s white moonlight quite a bit.

Even if Josiah Keaton wasn’t swayed, he definitely couldn’t resist the temptation of her face.

Understanding all this, Dean Master Moore’s gaze, initially slightly skeptical, gradually turned into one of sympathy, patting Josiah Keaton’s shoulder and saying, "So you found a lookalike?"

"It’s better than never being able to see her." Josiah Keaton sighed lowly.

"It’s been tough for you," Dean Master Moore said with a complicated look. As his brother, he couldn’t get the girl Josiah fancied, but this assistant...

Maybe he could help his brother get her?

Ann Vaughn, moving to the trashcan to pack up what she vomited: feels a chill down her spine.

Josiah Keaton had just returned to the base and was temporarily assigned to the outer experimental lab, only allowed to do some basic work and not yet through to core projects.

This was to prevent any unknown changes while he was outside the base, thus there’s a testing period to verify his loyalty to the base.

However, while Josiah Keaton could wait, Ann Vaughn couldn’t. She wanted to explore using the bathroom as an excuse.

But Josiah Keaton, willing to take risks to bring her in, was prepared to assume all responsibility and naturally wouldn’t let her act recklessly.

"Dean, help me hand this folder to Professor Stephen." Josiah Keaton handed Dean Master Moore a pre-prepared folder, instructing him, "Make sure to tell him I won’t be staying long this time, my family is pressing."

Dean Master Moore weighed the folder, laughed, "Is this all your latest research data? Just handing it to me so easily?"

Josiah Keaton shrugged slightly, "What’s there not to trust?"

"Fine, I’ll take it to the professor later. But don’t be annoyed, you’re the only one on the base who can leave without needing work, so they’re understandably uneasy. Of course, this isn’t doubting you, but fearing you might be used by someone."

Despite Josiah Keaton’s youth, his medical and bioengineering talents were no inferior to those of the professional professors and researchers inside.

It’s just that he inherently disliked restraint, often needing to go outside, which annoyed the higher-ups who had suggested revoking his privileges several times.

Yet every time Josiah Keaton returned to the base, he brought the latest research results, giving them great surprises, and only then did the higher-ups stop speaking against him.

Josiah Keaton smirked lightly, "Could I be used? I’m not a three-year-old child. Alright, I’m going back to my dorm to rest, call me if anything comes up."

"Sure." Dean Master Moore nodded, about to leave but suddenly turned back, warning him with a slightly solemn expression, "There’s a new doctor on the base, his skills are even beyond Professor Stephen. It’s likely that the higher-ups will meet him in the coming days. His dorm is next to yours, so make sure you don’t offend him."

Josiah Keaton raised an eyebrow, "Do I have to fear him?"

"It’s not about fear, but he might have an advanced gene technology that the base currently needs very much."

Dean Master Moore didn’t divulge too much, but Josiah Keaton sensed something, chuckled, and casually asked, "Aren’t you afraid he’s an insider from outside? You’re trusting him so much?"

"No way, you don’t know how much the base spent to bring him here."

Josiah Keaton became interested, inquiring about the exact amount, but Dean Master Moore, with a pained expression, refused to disclose it.

Though one could imagine, the sum must be significant enough to make the penny-pinching Dean Master Moore show this kind of painful expression.

Base dormitory.

To play the "cowardly assistant" role, Ann Vaughn wasn’t engaging with Josiah Keaton all the way, afraid her character would collapse the moment she spoke.

"Summer, why aren’t you talking to me? Did you hurt your throat while vomiting earlier? No worries, your boss is a doctor, I can fix it in minutes."

"Summer, why are your lashes so curled? I want to swing on them, can you make time for that?"

"Summer, we’ll be sharing a room later. This could damage my reputation if word gets out, shouldn’t you take responsibility?"

"Summer..."

Summer, summer, summer, my foot!

What a lousy codename did he give her!?

Ann Vaughn puffed her cheeks, feeling quite vexed.

This cheeky thing, knowing she couldn’t snap back now, was deliberately teasing her! 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

Swinging on her lashes?

She’d kick him over the head with her jio!

If looks could kill, Josiah Keaton walking ahead of Ann Vaughn would have been riddled with holes by now.

With no responses from behind, Josiah Keaton, cheerful as though a bride fell from the sky, grinned almost ear-to-ear, tossing his keychain in hand as he reached the door.

While opening the door, he cheekily said to Ann Vaughn, "Though there’s only one bed inside, I’m very willing to share half of my bedding with you."

Ann Vaughn: "..."

Oh, god.

How come she never knew how cheeky he could get?

Before Ann Vaughn could ask Josiah Keaton to stop, the neighboring door abruptly opened from inside.

Ann Vaughn turned upon hearing the sound.

She saw a cool guy, wearing a smoky gray shirt with one half tucked nonchalantly into tailored trousers, with a lab coat draped over his arm, stepping out of the room.

His hair was a shade of brown, appearing slightly messy, with front bangs sweeping across his brows, underneath lay a pair of deep and emotionless eyes, behind silver-framed glasses.

Perhaps because of the glasses, Ann Vaughn felt the glint in his pupils was colder than winter snow.

The cool guy’s gaze lingered on them for less than two seconds, closing his door and simply passing by them as he left.

"What’s so interesting? Not any more handsome than me! Look at him, don’t look at me!" Josiah Keaton opened the door, finding Ann Vaughn still wanting to look back at the man, promptly turned her face toward himself, dissatisfied.
