Mr. Hawthorne, Your Wife Wants a Divorce Again-Chapter 1042: I Am Still Unmarried
As they spoke, Ann Vaughn’s phone rang.
"I’ll take a call, you go ahead and sleep." Ann Vaughn glanced at the caller ID and immediately turned the phone over to prevent Susie Sommers from seeing it.
Susie Sommers nodded obediently and was about to lie down when she paused, "Is it okay for me to sleep here? Won’t President Hawthorne mind?"
The apartment door had forcibly been taken down, and a new one hadn’t been installed yet. Since Susie had been so scared today, Ann Vaughn didn’t feel comfortable leaving her alone, so she brought her back to Number 8.
Hearing this, Ann Vaughn chuckled, "Why would he mind? That guy, who can’t even be seen, doesn’t deserve to have an opinion."
Susie Sommers: "..." A moment of silence for President Hawthorne.
Ann Vaughn took her phone to the balcony and answered, "Mr. Moore."
"Miss Vaughn." A voice as smooth as the clinking of pearls came from the other side, "I heard Susie was kidnapped. Is she okay now?"
"If Mr. Moore is curious, why not ask Susie directly?"
Julian Master Moore paused for two seconds, then smiled gently, "She blocked me."
Ann Vaughn wasn’t surprised by this outcome at all. Susie’s personality was just like that—uninhibited and daring. If someone upset her, she wouldn’t bother seeking them out for more unpleasantness.
But thinking about Susie’s dim eyes whenever Julian Master Moore was mentioned, Ann Vaughn couldn’t help but sigh.
"Why does Miss Vaughn sigh? Is Susie... hurt?"
Hearing the tension in the other’s voice, Ann Vaughn raised an eyebrow, then repeated the question differently, "If Mr. Moore is so concerned, why not come see Susie yourself?"
"Ah, sorry, I seem to have misspoken. Mr. Moore cares so much about Susie that I almost forgot Mr. Moore is already married."
It’s been so long since Julian Master Moore and Letitia Chambers’s wedding, the proverbial raw rice had probably been cooked to popcorn long ago.
Thinking about it made Ann Vaughn angry for Susie.
Julian Master Moore spoke warmly, "I am relieved that Susie is with Miss Vaughn. Thank you, Miss Vaughn, for taking care of Susie. I am deeply grateful." He paused for a moment and then added lightly, "I am still unmarried."
Before Ann Vaughn could react, the line went dead.
Ann Vaughn looked at the gradually darkening phone screen and mentally said oh boy.
Was Julian Master Moore trying to use her to convey to Susie that he hadn’t married Letitia Chambers?
What does he really mean by this towards Susie?
Is he deliberately dragging things out or is there another reason?
As she pondered this, Ann Vaughn suddenly heard a car engine shut off downstairs, and she immediately leaned over the railing to look.
Sure enough, she saw that familiar black Maybach parked in front of the villa.
Downstairs.
The door opened, and a tall, upright figure stepped in with the night.
It was pitch black inside without any lights on.
Cyrus Hawthorne frowned slightly and was about to reach for the light switch on the wall when he was suddenly pounced on by an unknown object emerging from the darkness.
The unexpected impact left Cyrus without time to steady himself, and his arms instinctively caught the small figure in his embrace.
A faint, enticing fragrance lingered around, teasing yet absent.
"Did you think I’d be asleep now, so you came back at this time?" Clinging tightly to Cyrus like an octopus, Ann Vaughn smugly boasted, "You’ve been coming back at this time every night for the past few days, avoiding me, right? Surprise! I’m still not asleep!"
After being ignored by Cyrus for two whole days, Ann Vaughn could no longer bear it.
She had planned on staying up all night if necessary to wait for his return.
Unexpectedly, he came back by ten, which was a pleasant surprise.
"Stop it." In the darkness, Cyrus’s voice was a bit hoarse, "Get down."
"I’m not messing around with you." Ann Vaughn held onto him tightly and refused to let go, "When will you finally forgive me? You need to give me an answer tonight!"
"Get down."
"Tell me first!"
"Ann Vaughn."
Cyrus’s voice grew deeper, carrying a hint of warning, making Ann Vaughn feel incredibly wronged inside.
Feeling wronged, she couldn’t help but start babbling loudly, "I didn’t even commit any major crime, yet you’ve hung me out to dry for two days! What, do you want to leave me out to dry until I’m petrified like a salted fish before you’re satisfied? Do you want to lose your girlfriend, the most beautiful in the universe?"
Cyrus remained silent.
Ann Vaughn nestled against his shoulder with a pitifully soft voice, "Big brother, I know I was wrong. What will it take for you to forgive me?"
Begging to this extent, yet Cyrus still showed no signs of relenting. His warm hand rested on her waist, attempting to pry her off.
Ann Vaughn panicked instantly, tightened her hold on his neck, and blurted out without thinking:
"Fine, from now on, I’ll do whatever you say in bed. I won’t cry, won’t make a fuss, and I’ll stop faking pain to ask for mercy!!"
As soon as the words left her mouth, Ann Vaughn heard a gentle click, and the darkness receded as the room suddenly lit up.
Along with the lights came the glaring presence of Julian Ford and Evan Sawyer standing at the doorway, emitting a brilliance exceeding that of the light bulbs...
Seeing them, Ann Vaughn was completely dumbfounded.
Julian Ford and Evan Sawyer were also dumbfounded.
They simply took a little longer to park the car. When they arrived and saw the darkness inside, they casually switched on the light.
Somehow, they arrived just in time to witness Ann Vaughn’s outburst, overhearing such bold statements...
Making it really an awkward moment for these two single nobles.
While they were just awkwardly caught there, Ann Vaughn was about ready to die from embarrassment.
Ahhhhh!!!!
The little figure inside Ann Vaughn let out a sharp scream, sending her blood rushing to her head, turning her cheeks beet red and burning with heat!
And as for Cyrus Hawthorne, who she was clinging to?
His expression was lazily amused, his narrow eyes holding a smile, utterly unrestrained in the teasing air, showing none of the impatience she assumed.
Realizing this, Ann Vaughn quickly slid off Cyrus, not even managing a word of greeting, and dashed up the stairs!
As she reached the staircase, she even heard Cyrus’s low chuckle behind her, and the shame almost swallowed her whole right there.
After Ann Vaughn’s figure disappeared, Julian Ford and Evan Sawyer strolled into the room, giving Cyrus an inexplicably meaningful look.
"Brother, you clearly love it when the sister-in-law clings to you, yet you act like you’re annoyed. You’re really good at putting on the act, huh, big bad wolf~" Julian Ford mimicked Ann Vaughn’s tone, teasing Cyrus with a few quips.
"Sister-in-law is such an adorable person; how could you bear to leave her all alone in an empty room, which is why you came back early~" Evan Sawyer grinned mischievously.
Cyrus tilted his head slightly, his dark eyes fixating on them intently for a moment.
"Do I know you guys that well? Get out."
