Mr. Hawthorne, Your Wife Wants a Divorce Again-Chapter 1026: One Lifetime Is Forever
Before Ann Vaughn could ask clearly, Quinn Bishop in the front seat suddenly reminded.
"Your Highness, it’s almost time."
Warren Vance slightly frowned, elegantly straightened his leaning body, then turned to look at Ann Vaughn, and said to her warmly, "The Gothasen coup, I need to return quickly to handle the domestic turmoil. Once everything is settled... then we shall meet again."
The Gothasen coup?
Doesn’t that mean... something has happened to the old king?
Ann Vaughn’s eyes widened with shock, she pressed her lips together before saying, "Safe travels, also... give my regards to Kira."
Just as she finished speaking, Ann Vaughn saw Warren Vance suddenly lean towards her, startling her to instinctively try to open the car door to get out.
But Warren Vance didn’t make any unnecessary moves, only placed a cold necklace around her neck.
"This necklace contains my aura, it can temporarily suppress the blood curse within you, put it to sleep, and it won’t recur in the short term." Warren Vance fastened the necklace, sorted out Ann Vaughn’s hair that was pressed, and slowly straightened up.
Ann Vaughn almost stiffened all over, if he hadn’t explained in time, the Golden Needle in her sleeve would have become restless.
Seeing him sit back down, Ann Vaughn finally breathed a sigh of relief.
She reached out to touch the necklace on her neck, her eyes complex as she looked at Warren Vance, "Actually, I wouldn’t mind if you helped me lift this curse all at once."
"There is a way." Warren Vance smiled lightly, his expression somewhat unfathomably deep, "But not now."
"..."
Considering the necklace that could suppress the curse within her, Ann Vaughn ultimately didn’t retort to him. Hearing another reminder from Quinn Bishop in the front seat, she then asked.
"Warren Vance, you’re clearly not Queen Manfrieda’s... so why do you do all this?"
Her words were somewhat nonsensical, others might not understand, but Warren Vance understood what she meant.
Warren Vance twirled his fingers, as if the warmth from Ann Vaughn’s soft neck lingered on them, smiling a bit nonchalantly.
"When you possess immortality, you will understand."
For a vampire who lives forever, a promise, a contract, once established, becomes an eternal mark of immortality.
Humans die and reincarnate, thus forgetting the present life and meeting the next with a new appearance.
They can have countless future lives.
But vampires have only one life.
One life, which is forever.
Ann Vaughn had never understood before why Warren Vance was so fixated on the contract across numerous generations of the Sheridan Family, refusing to let it go.
In fact, the answer had been predetermined from the beginning.
...
Thanks to Warren Vance, Ann Vaughn missed her scheduled flight, and it was not until nine o’clock that she returned to The Imperial Capital.
The lights in the living room of Villa No. 8 were still on. Ann Vaughn changed into slippers and then ran over quickly.
"Cyrus Hawthorne, Kenny, I’m back..."
She hadn’t finished speaking when she stopped abruptly upon seeing an unfamiliar face sitting next to Cyrus Hawthorne in the living room.
The other person also noticed Ann Vaughn, his probing gaze quietly fell on her.
She wasn’t sure if it was her imagination, but did the handsome boy in the wheelchair seem to look at her with inexplicable hostility?
"Kingston, is this the sister Vera White you often mentioned?" The handsome boy withdrew his gaze and asked curiously, "Indeed, she’s just as beautiful and cute as you said."
Sister?
Ann Vaughn couldn’t help but touch her face, did she and Cyrus Hawthorne really look like siblings?
"Ian Yardley, this is your sister-in-law." Cyrus Hawthorne’s voice was deep, his expression impenetrable.
The boy called Ian Yardley shyly scratched his head, "Sorry, Kingston, sister-in-law, I misjudged at first glance. Please don’t blame my momentary lack of perception."
... Sister-in-law?
Ann Vaughn felt a momentary palpitation in her heart, glancing up to see Cyrus Hawthorne gesturing her to come over, she immediately walked up to him.
Cyrus Hawthorne smoothly held her soft, boneless little hand, magnetically said to her, "Annie, let me introduce you, this is Ian Yardley, a brother of an old friend."
Hearing this, the smile at the corners of Ian Yardley’s mouth deepened imperceptibly.
"Hello Ian Yardley, my name is Ann Vaughn, nice to meet you."
For Cyrus Hawthorne’s sake, even though Ann Vaughn didn’t like the way the boy looked at her, she politely greeted him.
"Hello sister-in-law, I’m also very happy to meet you." Ian Yardley replied to Ann Vaughn with a smile, and then said to Cyrus, "I can’t believe someone could melt the icy facade of Kingston. I couldn’t believe it was true. Uncle Hugo would be thrilled to know that he no longer has to go to the trouble of arranging blind dates for you."
Arranging blind dates?
Ann Vaughn’s ears twitched, just as her sense of crisis arose, she heard Cyrus Hawthorne laugh lightly, "Uncle Hugo merely uses me as a proxy to choose a wife for your brother."
"Ever since Uncle Hugo retired, he’s been overly concerned. Before I came here, he introduced a bunch of handsome, capable young men to my sister. Who knew they would all be ruthlessly rejected? She says she’s waiting for someone, but no one knows who she’s waiting for..."
"Your sister is still young, these things don’t need to be rushed."
Hearing Cyrus Hawthorne say this, Ian Yardley’s eyes immediately brightened, "If Uncle Hugo hears you say that, he’ll surely be angry at you for disrupting his matchmaking endeavors..."
Ann Vaughn didn’t know if it was her imagination or not. She sat in the living room, but felt as if she was in a different world from Cyrus.
The past he shared with Ian Yardley was completely unknown to her.
She couldn’t get involved in their conversation either.
It was as if she could never integrate into the world that belonged to him. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
Not that she was complaining, just... a bit disappointed.
Glancing at Ann Vaughn, who was sitting in silence at the far-end of the sofa with a forlorn look on her face, a trace of triumph flickered in Ian Yardley’s eyes as he was about to say something else, a servant entered from outside the living room.
"Sir, the ingredients are all prepared." The servant respectfully said to Cyrus Hawthorne.
Cyrus Hawthorne nodded slightly, then said to Ian, "If you’re tired, you can go up and rest. I’ve had a room prepared for you."
Ian Yardley was taken aback for a moment, "Kingston, then you..."
"Your sister-in-law hasn’t had dinner yet, I’m going to cook for her."
Ian Yardley: "?"
Ian thought he must have misheard, but when he saw Cyrus Hawthorne leading Ann Vaughn out of the living room, he immediately maneuvered his wheelchair to follow.
He watched as Cyrus casually rolled up his sleeves, walked over to the counter, and gently asked Ann Vaughn what she wanted to eat.
Ann Vaughn was obviously not in the right state, she softly replied with a few dish names.
What they saw next was Cyrus Hawthorne, using the same hand that had shot through countless enemies, picking up a shiny kitchen knife—
And slicing a carrot.
Ian Yardley: ?
Was it him or was there something wrong with the world?
The Federation Executor, whose slightest cough could shake the entire outer domain three times... was actually rolling up his sleeves to cook for a woman?!
