Mr. Fairchild's Rose: She is Wild and Proud-Chapter 340 - 223: Zane Payne
In short, an agent like Hopper treats Mila Miller just like... how should I put it, like Miles Hughes treats Julian Fairchild.
Such a hot-tempered person actually obeys Mila Miller’s words.
Maeve Lane thought to herself, this Mila Miller can’t be simple.
Whatever the possibility, she wasn’t as harmless as she seemed.
"Director Osborne, Hopper, and Sarah Sutton, would you mind stepping out for a bit? I’d like to have a few words with Maeve Lane," Mila Miller smiled at Maeve Lane.
She seemed like a little girl with no aggression, making it easy for people to let down their guard. No wonder her fans called her "Little Angel," her smile looked very amiable and healing.
"Alright, take care and get well," Director Osborne was happy to comply. He didn’t want something like this to happen again during the shooting break. After all, Mila’s people were the ones who started it, and it wouldn’t be good to leave Maeve with any unpleasant feelings. It was a good opportunity for them to talk and resolve any conflicts.
He realized the meaning of Maeve’s earlier phrase belatedly, and it seemed Mila had caught onto it too, which was why she took the initiative to speak with Maeve.
That’s good, she’s truly known for being understanding.
Director Osborne gave Sarah Sutton and Hopper a meaningful look and walked out first.
Mila Miller’s demeanor might have differed from what Sarah Sutton expected, creating a contrast, so now Sarah had a better attitude towards Mila. After all, they were going to work together, and Maeve wasn’t going to keep encountering people like Sylvia Lane all the time.
She patted Maeve Lane’s arm and then rushed out ahead of Hopper.
"Mila, look at her!" Hopper nearly lost his balance, angrily.
"Alright, you’re the one who misunderstood them first, so let them vent a little," Mila coughed lightly, her voice tinged with laughter.
Sarah beamed, "See that? Your boss is much more astute than you."
Sarah had planned to stop managing artists after Maeve. The money she earned would draw a considerable interest even if left in the bank. Originally, this plan had been in place a few years ago, but Maeve’s arrival disrupted it.
So, she made a promise to herself that after Maeve, she would retire early!
Become a happy, carefree slacker.
So now, she was in a state akin to the last month before quitting, daring to retort anyone. Plus, Maeve also had a fearless attitude, and with the big boss backing her, she didn’t need to bother with idiots like Hopper who sought out scolding.
Hopper stomped his foot in fury and finally stormed out without saying anything.
Before leaving, Sarah gave Maeve a wink and flashed a smile at Mila as well.
Only Maeve Lane and Mila Miller were left in the room.
Neither of them spoke first.
Mila broke the silence with a smile, "Won’t you sit?"
What puzzled Maeve was that although the two had met only once, Mila’s tone was as if they were already familiar, or was this how she interacted with strangers?
Maeve pulled over a chair, spun it, sat down, and folded her arms, her gaze slightly scrutinizing.
Mila smiled and said, "You seem to dislike me."
Maeve paused for a few seconds and said, "No."
Indeed, she didn’t really dislike Mila, or rather, she felt nothing towards her.
At least Mila hadn’t truly offended her yet, and Maeve wouldn’t take out her frustration on Mila over Hopper’s actions.
"Really?" Mila looked at Maeve, suddenly asking, "Do you really not remember me?"
Maeve half-raised her gaze, as if contemplating, "Did we know each other before?"
As expected, she didn’t want to hear such an answer.
Mila smiled without speaking.
Maeve felt the gaze Mila cast upon her was complex, full of mixed emotions, yet in her memory, there was no one named Mila Miller.
"I don’t have anything to ask you, so if you’re busy, you can go." Mila took a sip of hot water from a plastic cup by the bed.
"I hope I didn’t offend you today." Mila took another sip of water, her voice gaining strength, "Even though you might not like me, I actually quite like you and hope we can become good friends."
Maeve put the chair back in its place, "Let’s leave it to fate then..."
As her voice fell, a glass bottle dropped to the floor.
Mila looked at the bottle on the floor and smiled, "Why do you also carry medicine with you?"
An astonished glimmer flashed in Maeve’s eyes. Her medicine was always packaged to look like candy, so when Julian Fairchild saw her medicine drawer, half of it was "candy" and the other half was medicine for low blood sugar. That’s why he never suspected.
