Chapter 883: Chapter 879: Who Says I’m Upset Because of a Woman

With a round of poker over, Felix Shaw won the money while Nicholas Croft and Nathan Moore tossed the chips in front of him, their faces still icy.

As Felix Shaw stacked the chips and shuffled the deck, he casually remarked, "Big bro, second bro, it’s the holiday season, don’t keep those long faces, will you? Isn’t it just about women? Back in the days without them, we brothers still lived happily!"

Felix Shaw was merely trying to console his two elder brothers. Beside him, Evander Lancaster lit a cigarette and sneered discontentedly, "Don’t act like you’re so carefree, aren’t you the one flying abroad once a month?"

Felix Shaw turned to glare at Evander Lancaster, as if reminding him of something. Across the table, Nicholas Croft also lit a cigarette, leaned lazily in his chair, and looked nonchalantly at Felix Shaw, "Who said I’m unhappy because of women?"

"Do you have to say it, Little Sophie disappeared..."

As soon as Felix Shaw mentioned Sophie Foster, Nicholas Croft interrupted with a chuckle, turning his head aside as he exhaled smoke, his lips curling in a clear disdain, "Felix, don’t make us brothers seem so pathetic. It’s just women; with a single phone call, won’t they come flocking?"

"Hmph, it’s easy to say," Felix Shaw scoffed, pouting, knowing full well how important Sophie Foster was to Nicholas Croft. As he dealt the cards, he continued, "Go ahead, call a few more women over so we brothers won’t be too lonely!"

Felix Shaw was merely joking, but Nicholas Croft took it seriously, glancing at him and picking up his phone to dial a number. After hanging up, the men continued playing cards.

In less than an hour, there was a knock on the private room door, and it opened, allowing five elegantly dressed women to enter one by one.

"Director Croft, Assistant Tang said you asked us to come." The girl leading the group smiled, trying to hide her long legs in a light-colored cotton coat.

"Mm, come over and sit," Nicholas Croft instructed blandly, his face cold without extra expression, then played a card, "These are my good brothers. Your task today is to keep them company."

The five girls were newly signed artists under Nicholas Croft’s company. They had just begun to make a presence in films, not yet very famous, hovering between second and third-tier.

"We guarantee to complete the task," the girls eagerly agreed and sat next to the men. The brothers of Director Croft shouldn’t be too shabby. You could see it from their demeanor – young, handsome; the kind of quality men girls like.

Four girls sat next to four men, leaving the last girl with no seat, so she sat beside her own boss.

"You! Sit over there!" Nicholas Croft pointed to Felix Shaw, "He’s famous for being generous. Make him happy tonight, and he might even fund an investment for you." 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺

The men at the poker table saw it clearly; Felix Shaw’s joke had pushed Nicholas Croft’s sore spot, and so the two brothers were at odds.

"Come, come, little sis, sit by your brother here!" Felix Shaw didn’t hold back, gesturing across the table to the girl. After all, she was only watching them play poker, so one more or less didn’t matter.

The girl walked over smilingly, and as she sat down, she linked arms with Felix Shaw. Holding cards in his hand, he was unable to play with his arms pulled on both sides. Raising his arms to free himself from the girls’ grips, "Ladies, don’t get too warm; we’re playing cards here."
