Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride-Chapter 879 - 875: It’s Up to Your Skills
Oliver Shaw was left speechless by the retort. Melody Zachary adjusted her oversized sunglasses and, with her chin raised, said, "Let’s go, son. Don’t let certain people delay my return to the set for filming."
"Put the luggage in my trunk. I’ll drive your mom," Oliver Shaw said as he turned first toward his car. Melody refused sarcastically, "No need. Don’t think just because I’ve gained some fame now you can come running to leech off me. Too late!" Her attitude and behavior were so ostentatious that she nearly twisted her ankle again the moment she stepped forward.
"Mom!" Felix Shaw said helplessly. Luckily, he was right beside her, or who knows how badly she might have fallen. "Can’t you just change your shoes?"
From the apartment to the entrance, she twisted her ankle twice. What were the manufacturers thinking, making shoes with such high heels? Are they even wearable?
"It’s nothing, a mishap, a mishap," Melody explained with a smile, holding her son’s arm. "It’s because I was angry with someone, so I didn’t watch my step."
Oliver Shaw...
Just as he opened the car door, his face darkened. From ex to someone, where did this woman learn all these nonsensical terms?
"Felix, put the luggage in the trunk!"
"Son, you take your mom!"
Melody turned her face with determination. Seeing his parents at a standoff, Felix’s eyes twitched. He suddenly bent down and whispered in his mother’s ear, "Mom, don’t you want to play Empress Wu Zetian?" Felix inconspicuously gestured at his father, whose expression was unpleasant. "Isn’t the best investment right in front of you?"
Melody...
Suddenly looking delighted, she turned to whisper to her son, "Oh? How did I not think of that? Do you think someone will invest?"
"Well,"
Felix smiled suggestively, "that depends on your skills, Mom."
"What are you two whispering about over there? If you don’t hurry up, the plane will be gone!" Seeing his wife and son in a private conversation without including him made Oliver Shaw uncomfortable, so he immediately barked unhappily. Melody secretly made an OK gesture to her son and then reluctantly said, while fiddling with her burlap-like jacket, "If it weren’t for my son’s sake, I’d never be eager to ride in your car!"
Felix quickly went over to put the suitcase in the trunk, then hurried back to help his mother. Watching Melody step grandly like an empress, Oliver Shaw sighed heavily in anger, strode over, and, without another word, scooped Melody up and plopped her into the front seat.
Before the car started, Melody used her body to shield an OK gesture to her son.
"A pair of old rascals." Watching his father’s car leave, Felix shook his head helplessly.
Inside the car, seeing Melody still wearing her oversized sunglasses, Oliver Shaw found it hard to bear, "I say, can’t you take off those glasses?"
Melody adjusted the frames disdainfully and said, "What do you know? It’s style!"
Oliver Shaw frowned as he drove, "At your age, couldn’t you learn something better?" The last time he visited the set for scouting, he was so stirred by old Wang that he invested. But when he went back to the set, the woman actually claimed not to know him!
"How old am I?"
Melody was displeased to hear Oliver mention her age, "Haven’t you heard, at fifty, a woman blooms like a flower? I’m at the peak of my blossoming age. If I don’t live wildly now, it’ll be too late."
As Melody finished speaking, Oliver Shaw frowned again, "Who do you hang out with to pick up all these ideas?" At her age, wanting to go wild, wasn’t she afraid of spraining her back?
