Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride-Chapter 793 - 789, wife, why didn’t you tell me when entertaining clients?
Outside the restaurant, Felix Shaw watched a man and a woman laughing as they walked in. He didn’t rush to get out of the car, his slender fingers gripping the steering wheel, his slightly squinted eyes barely concealing the gloom within.
Mia Foster’s personality was something he had always been well aware of—decisive and rational, whether in work or life. However, he had not expected her to fall in love with someone else so quickly. She had found someone new almost immediately after they had talked about divorce.
In Felix Shaw’s life, although he had not done anything earth-shattering, he had at least never been abandoned by a woman. Although he was not sure if he still loved Mia Foster, since they were not yet divorced, he would never allow her to have an affair.
Lighting a cigarette, he sat in the driver’s seat, watching the entrance of the restaurant as he slowly exhaled the smoke. When he finished the cigarette, he glanced at his watch; more than twenty minutes had passed, and their food should have arrived by now.
After extinguishing the cigarette butt, he got out of the car, slammed the door, and walked towards the entrance of the restaurant.
"Sir, did you make a reservation in advance?" greeted a waiter warmly. Felix responded indifferently, "Looking for someone."
He briefly scanned the first-floor dining hall, where it was easy to see all the guests sitting at various tables; not seeing his target, Felix directly headed up to the second floor.
Compared to the first floor, the environment on the second was more elegant, with booths separated by wooden platforms and glass. You could vaguely see the guests sitting inside.
It was not yet the dinner rush hour, and the number of guests in the restaurant was still countable. From a distance, he saw a man and a woman sitting opposite each other by a window. The woman, laughing and talking with the man, paused as the waiter, done serving the food, turned to leave, just as Felix approached. He ordered another set of utensils from the waiter and then nonchalantly took a seat next to Mia Foster.
Leaning back lazily in his chair, with one arm resting on the back of Mia Foster’s chair, he looked at the surprised man opposite him and said with a half-smile, "Wife, how come you didn’t tell me you were entertaining a client? If you drink too much, it’s easy for those with intentions to take advantage of you." 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Felix Shaw’s sudden intrusion took Mia Foster by surprise, especially his contemptuous attitude and his pointed words. Not wanting to lose her temper in front of others, she apologized with a smile to Manager Wang, "Sorry for making you see this."
"Manager Liu, this gentleman is... your husband?" Manager Wang asked dubiously, feeling that the carefree man opposite didn’t match Mia Foster at all. Mia was a typical strong woman, while Felix Shaw currently had a frivolous smile and flirtatious eyes on his face.
"Hello, although I don’t know who you are, let me introduce myself. I am Mia’s husband; she is my newlywed wife." Not waiting for Mia Foster’s response, Felix Shaw spoke first, his arm still hanging on the back of Mia Foster’s chair, subtly leaning forward and showing clear hostility towards the ordinary-looking man opposite him.
"Oh, hello," Manager Wang, seeing Mia Foster helplessly covering her face, slightly bent forward and politely shook hands with Felix Shaw. Just as he was about to withdraw his hand, Felix did not let go but continued to look at him with a smirk, squeezing tighter.
The scene at the dining table was bizarre. Felix Shaw lounged in his chair, while Manager Wang, caught in an awkward half-standing position, hands locked with Felix Shaw’s. The more he tried to withdraw, the harder Felix squeezed. Manager Wang, a physically weak man who seldom exercised, stood no chance in this mismatched contest of strength. In just a few seconds, his face showed signs of pain. Wanting to say something yet unable to speak up, he ultimately could only look towards Mia Foster for help.
