Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride-Chapter 792 - 788, No matter how good a woman outside is, it won’t last long
No knocking, Felix Shaw turned the doorknob directly. The door was locked from the inside and wouldn’t twist open, so he gently patted the door, speaking up, "Mia, I know you’re inside."
There was no response. Mia Foster sat at her desk, dealing with some files that weren’t urgent at all.
Felix knocked on the door again, "Mia, Mom... asked me to pick you up and take you home..."
The only answer to him was still silence. After knocking for a while, Felix took out a pack of cigarettes, leaned against the wall, and lit one for himself. The curling smoke fogged his sight, and without realizing it, he had smoked nearly the entire pack in his pocket. Glancing at the pile of butts by his feet, Felix turned around and left quietly.
It was only after the sound of footsteps in the hallway disappeared that Mia Foster stopped her work, tilted her head back, took a deep breath, and after sitting for a while, she organized the files and stood up to leave the office.
Inside the apartment, watching her son enter the house, Melody Zachary glanced backward curiously, "Felix, why didn’t Mia come back with you? Didn’t you say you were going to pick her up?"
Felix closed the door behind him, intentionally changing the subject, "Mom, I’m hungry. Is dinner ready?"
"It’s ready, it’s ready. Since you said you would bring Mia back, I made several dishes," Melody busied herself reheating the food in the kitchen while she couldn’t stop talking about Mia Foster.
With a faint sigh, Felix went to his bedroom to change clothes.
He couldn’t quite explain what he felt for Mia Foster; he only knew that being with her felt comfortable, without the need to deliberately spend energy to accommodate.
Perhaps it was a habit formed from spending time together; since Mia moved out, every night before sleep, he felt an emptiness beside him.
"Felix, break it off with that little starlet. Don’t be like your dad..." Sitting at the dining table, mother and son, Melody earnestly advised him, "No matter how good women outside are, they won’t last long with you..."
Felix placed a mouthful of vegetables into his mother’s bowl, "Mom, let’s eat. The dishes won’t taste good when cold."
"Ah," Melody sighed deeply, her head buried as she fidgeted with her rice bowl, "Why are both you and your father like this, what’s so good about women outside..." 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Facing his mother’s sighs, Felix ate silently without saying a word.
Elizabeth White returned to the film set to shoot. After making such a scene, although she got nothing from Felix, it at least created discord between him and his spouse, serving as a way for her to vent her frustrations.
Before long another week had passed. Mia Foster didn’t send attorney Chen with the divorce agreement again but instead chose to have a lawyer’s letter delivered. It was still one letter every day. At first, the secretary was bewildered and curious when receiving the letters on his behalf, but after a week, it had become routine.
Oliver Shaw had also heard about his son’s divorce, but the man, engrossed in sweet pleasures, had no mind to care for other matters.
Mia Foster was determined to divorce, and Felix took an attitude of outright disregard. When not busy, he would wait for her outside her company after work, but not once had he seen Mia’s face.
Lately, Mia Foster was busy. The company’s new product was launched into the market, and as the manager of the Market Research & Development Department, she led her team daily to conduct market research outside.
A counter for the new product was set up in the department store; the space wasn’t large, specially made available by Manager Wang’s subordinates. To show gratitude towards Manager Wang, Mia Foster planned to invite him for a meal.
In the business world, socializing over a dining table is a common occurrence. However, Mia Foster’s status was peculiar now, and getting too close to any man would make a certain someone feel uncomfortable. That evening after work, seeing Mia getting into a stranger’s car, Felix discarded the cigarette butt in his hand and followed her by getting into the driver’s seat.
