Chapter 696: 692, I have no confidence in you

Mia Foster was puzzled and followed the direction the employee was looking at earlier. She then noticed a man in a suit holding a bouquet of roses, leaning on a flashy sports car by the street in front of the company building, apparently waiting for someone.

Felix Shaw, wearing a blue plaid suit that seemed ostentatious, but looked fashionable on him, his short hair neatly styled. Holding flowers in one hand and the other in his trouser pocket, he leaned against the car, his foot propped up in front, looking at the direction of the office building’s main entrance with a casually mischievous smirk.

There was a moment of distraction for Mia Foster, perhaps because she was too dull, she found herself attracted to mischievous men.

She curled her lips into a wry smile along with a sigh, sadly acknowledging that such a perfect man was not hers.

After hesitating, Mia Foster stepped out of the company’s front door.

Felix Shaw, leaning on the sports car, watched as Mia Foster descended the steps and walked towards him, then extended the bouquet of roses towards her.

"For you."

"Felix Shaw, I’ve already told your uncle that we..."

"Take it." Mia hadn’t finished speaking when Felix interrupted her, shoving the bouquet into her hands and then turning to pull open the car door.

"Congratulations, you’ve successfully caught my attention."

"Felix Shaw, I think you’ve misunderstood." Mia looked at the dewy roses in her hand, contemplated throwing them away but felt it would be too embarrassing for him, yet they weren’t what she wanted.

So she just placed the roses on the roof of the sports car and watched Felix’s departing back, her gaze turning serious.

"Misunderstood? What did I misunderstand?" Felix slammed the door shut, turned around, still holding the car keys, and with a taunt in his smile, spoke, "Isn’t this exactly what you wanted?"

A smart woman like her knew what Felix was thinking; he probably thought she was playing games to make him chase her.

With a deep breath, Mia seriously said, "Felix Shaw, I’ve considered it deeply, calling off the engagement wasn’t a scheme."

Felix, knowing that a confident and proud woman like Mia would never admit to scheming, chuckled lightly, changed his accusation, hands in his trouser pockets, leaning on the car shaking one leg, and looking at Mia, his eyebrows raised in a semblance of a smile, "Didn’t you promise confidently to win me over within a year? So quickly lost confidence in yourself?"

Mia sighed again, "I lost confidence in you."

She had faith to give everything for him, but no faith that she could move him.

"How do you know if you don’t keep trying?"

"I don’t want to try anymore, it’s exhausting." Mia lowered her gaze, hands in her coat pockets, looking down at her own toe tips, pursing her lips and saying, "Felix Shaw, I have confidence in myself, but with you, I really feel helpless."

She hoped for honesty, but he responded with evasion, this unfair tactic made her step back.

Just as Felix was about to say something more, he looked up and noticed employees inside the company pointing and whispering from behind the windows.

His brows furrowed, and though his face slightly grim, he still put on a smile, draping his arm around Mia’s shoulders with a somewhat helpless tone, "Let’s go, give me some face, so many employees watching."

Without even looking back, Mia knew there were many employees in the lobby, as she had seen them gathered there when she came down during the lunch break.

Being a sensible woman aware of a man’s need to save face, she pursed her lips, opened the car door herself, and got in.
