After saying their goodbyes, Chantelle and the others left the ward.

Kane walked slowly on purpose. Once they left the ward, he secretly slipped back inside, walked over to Oscar’s bed, and said in a hushed voice, "Do you know, Mr. Nelsen Number Two? I like you quite a lot."

Oscar nodded with a warm smile. "I like you too."

Kane giggled, handed him a book, and dashed out of the room.

Oscar chuckled as he looked at the book and opened it. It was a comic.

Later, after Chantelle dropped Thea off at home, she turned to Kane and Rai. "Should I take you back to your Daddy?"

Kane got flustered when he saw his mother’s serious expression. He quickly put on his most innocent look and asked, "Mommy, are you going to abandon us?"

He thought his mom was still upset because they had chosen to stay with their dad. That’s why she didn’t want to take them back to Western Hill Villa.

Chantelle let out a soft sigh. "Kane, no matter what happens, I’ll never abandon you. Don’t say that again, okay?"

She could tell Kane felt anxious, so she did her best to comfort him. She even let him try to help fix things between her and Daniel.

"I’m sorry, Mommy. I think I want to stay with you," Kane mumbled softly.

"I want to stay with you too, Mommy," Rai added right away. His eyes were more firm than Kane’s.

Chantelle felt happy knowing her sons wanted to stay with her.

"Okay, let’s go home then," she said, pressing on the gas. They arrived at Western Hill Villa shortly after.

Once they got inside, Kane led her to the sofa and pulled out his phone. "Mommy, look. Daddy made Steph cry earlier."

Kane had already told her that Daniel made Stephanie cry, but Chantelle didn’t believe it. She knew Daniel loved his daughter the most.

If Kane had said Daniel made someone else cry because they upset Stephanie, she might believe it. But Daniel making Stephanie cry? That didn’t sound right.

Kane tapped the play button.

In the video, Stephanie and Daniel were sitting on the sofa, talking about how to win back Chantelle. Stephanie told him that Chantelle liked good-looking men and suggested he take some staged photos to send her.

Daniel actually went along with it.

He let Stephanie direct his poses. They were all typical magazine-style shots that she liked.

Then, Stephanie told him to undo the top two buttons of his white shirt and pour water over it. It was meant to look seductive.

Daniel was completely furious after hearing what Stephanie had said.

Even though Daniel’s back was to the camera the whole time, Chantelle could tell his mood had shifted. His body stiffened, and the whole room felt tense. The servants quickly cleared out, not wanting to be implicated in whatever was about to happen.

Chantelle was shocked that Stephanie even knew what a "seductive pose" was. More than that, she was angry.

Any parent would be upset hearing something like that from a five-year-old.

She had done everything she could to protect Stephanie. She supported her daughter’s passion, but always tried to keep her away from scandals and trouble.

She didn’t expect Stephanie to be influenced with nonsense things.

Even so, Chantelle didn’t regret letting Stephanie chase her dream of becoming an actress. After calming down, she reminded herself that Stephanie was still her sweet, innocent girl.

Maybe I’m just overthinking, she told herself.

Daniel, on the other hand, wasn’t as forgiving. He didn’t blame Stephanie, but he did call her manager and fired her on the spot.

Stephanie was devastated. She really liked her manager and refused to let Daniel fire her.

That’s when the argument between Daniel and Stephanie started. Stephanie ran into her room and locked the door.

Daniel, furious, almost kicked the coffee table. But when he saw Stephanie shut the door, he stopped himself and slowly lowered his foot.

The video ended there.

Kane quickly grabbed Chantelle’s sleeve and his eyes were filled with worry. "Mommy, do you think Daddy will be okay?"

Chantelle understood what Kane meant. Whenever Stephanie got upset, someone always had to deal with the aftermath.

She could already picture the chaos at the Wilson residence.

"I’ll go bring Steph home. Do you want to come with me or stay here?" she asked as she stood up.

Kane quickly wrapped his arms around her leg. "Mommy! Are you going to see Daddy?"

"I don’t think it’s that bad," Rai said as he hugged her other leg. "Why don’t you call Daddy and ask if everything’s okay?"

Chantelle noticed her sons’ behavior was strange. Didn’t they show her the video so she’d go see Daniel? Or did she misunderstand?

If she was wrong, then how could she explain Kane’s calm reaction while watching his sister get scolded?

Something didn’t add up.

"No. I’m really worried about Steph. I need to see for myself that she’s okay," Chantelle said as she pretended to head for the door.

The boys held her legs even tighter. Kane looked up and said, "Mommy, if you go now, Steph will think you’re taking her side. That’ll just make the fight worse."

Rai quickly added, "Maybe Daddy already said sorry to Steph. You don’t need to waste your time going there, Mommy. Why don’t you just call him and check?"

The two boys clearly didn’t want Chantelle to leave.

Chantelle looked a little amused. She gently pulled their hands off and kept walking. "I don’t mind going. I can also talk to Daniel about finalizing the divorce."

"No, Mommy, no!" Kane cried, grabbing her leg again.

"That’s enough, boys. You can either come with me to the Wilson residence or stay here."

Chantelle had made up her mind. She was going to the Wilson residence to see the truth for herself.

Kane and Rai looked at each other, then quickly rushed into Chantelle’s car, afraid she might leave them behind if they didn’t move quickly.

While in the car, Kane started typing furiously on his phone, sending a stream of messages to Daniel.

"Daddy! Red alert! Red alert!"

"Your dearest wife is incoming! ETA 20 minutes!"

"Mommy looks very serious. Brace for impact!"

"Take Steph with you and leave the house now!" Kane added urgently.

Right after, Rai sent another message too. "Daddy, I think you should just tell Mommy the truth."

He was worried. If their dad kept hiding things, Chantelle would get even more upset, and this time, she might really walk away.

Chantelle wasn’t the type to stick around just because of feelings. She was practical.

Sometimes, Daddy really was too full of himself for his own good. Rai thought to himself.
