Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback-Chapter 332: Let Go Of Me
Chapter 332: Chapter 332: Let Go Of Me
"I always hoped Mommy would meet someone who really loves her,"
Stephanie said softly. "Back in Carcosa, she went through intense training every day. She’d come home with bruises and cuts. Even a gentle touch from Kane or me made her flinch in pain. I thought maybe she’d be happier if someone who loved her could take care of her."
Tears filled her eyes as she spilled the events.
Daniel turned to look at her.
Right then, Stephanie pressed the shutter button.
For the first time, she managed to capture the sadness and pain in his expression.
"When Mommy sees this, she’s going to feel sorry for you," Stephanie said, sending the photo to Chantelle with a satisfied smile.
Daniel didn’t bother checking the photo. He gently patted Stephanie’s head as his heart ached for everything she and her brother had endured.
"Hey, don’t mess up my hair! We’re not done with the shoot yet," Stephanie complained.
The sadness from earlier had vanished. She cheerfully directed Daniel into more poses.
Most of the pictures ended up being her selfies, with Daniel striking different poses behind her.
Meanwhile, at the hospital, Chantelle stood by the window, silently watching Oscar lying in bed. She felt deeply thankful for everything he had done.
They hadn’t known each other long, and at one point, Chantelle even suspected the Nelsen brothers had hidden motives for getting closer to her.
But what reason could Oscar possibly have to risk his life just to save hers?
"Chantelle! Haven’t you hurt my brother enough? What are you doing here?" Camille stood in front of the door, blocking her way.
Chantelle already felt exhausted just seeing her. "I came to visit the man who saved me. Camille, if I were you, I wouldn’t make a scene here. I’d take this chance to blackmail me and ask me to use my position as Chairperson of the Global Philanthropy Committee to help fix your reputation."
Camille was stunned. Rowan had told her before that her name had been tarnished ever since she arrived in Easthan. Her uncles, jealous of how close she was to their grandfather, had been trying to dig up any dirt they could find.
If they found out she was the reason the Nelsen and Law families almost cut ties, they’d ship her off to some faraway country.
"Do you really mean it?" Camille asked, full of hope.
"If you can promise to always stay at least ten feet away from me, I’ll think about it," Chantelle replied, clearly annoyed. She didn’t understand why Camille kept bothering her.
She didn’t have the time or energy to deal with someone so childish.
"Chantelle! Is that how you talk to the person who saved your life?" Camille retorted, pointing a finger at her. But the moment she remembered how Chantelle nearly broke her finger last time, she quickly pulled back her hand.
"Oscar’s the one who saved my life, not you. Get your facts straight, Ms. Nelsen," Chantelle said, pushing Camille aside as she walked into the room.
Camille tried to block her again, but she wasn’t strong enough to stop her.
She stumbled back a few steps, pain shooting through her shoulder from Chantelle’s grip. She wanted to scream but she forced herself not to do it.
Just as she opened her mouth to speak, Chantelle’s hand tightened, digging into her shoulder like she might crush it.
"Let... Let go of me!" Camille gasped.
Chantelle let go of Camille and gave her a mocking smirk before walking into the room with her kids.
She turned back and said, "Think about it. Let me know once you’ve decided."
Camille’s face flushed with embarrassment. She was too distracted by Chantelle’s words to notice Kane accidentally bump into her arm. freewёbnoνel.com
A bodyguard suddenly came and spoke carefully. "Ms. Nelsen, Mr. Lopez is looking for you."
Benjamin Lopez was Rowan’s right-hand man. Camille knew she couldn’t afford to miss the meeting, so she followed the bodyguard with her face full of frustration.
Benjamin was at the hospital too, settling Oscar’s bills at the payment counter.
Camille wasn’t happy that he asked her to come down instead of going up to meet her.
"What is it?" she asked, clearly annoyed.
"Good news, Ms. Nelsen!" Benjamin said cheerfully. "Your charity project for building schools in the western province has been getting great feedback. Also, the donation you made to help the elderly in rural areas really boosted your reputation online. People are saying a lot of good things about you."
Benjamin had fair skin and with a gentle manner. He looked like someone who could be pushed around.
He always wore a harmless smile, which made people feel like teasing him even more.
Rowan had adopted Benjamin when he was just a young orphan. Since then, he had always worked for Rowan.
Camille had bullied him since they were kids and often warned him not to tell Rowan.
Benjamin, quiet and obedient, never said a word.
Camille looked down on him because of how timid he was. She never treated him with respect.
"It only turned out well because I was part of it," Camille said. "But you did a decent job. I’ll say a few nice things about you."
To Camille, Benjamin was nothing more than Rowan’s obedient follower, someone who lived for his praise and did whatever he was told.
Whenever Benjamin got upset from her bullying, she’d go to Rowan and say a few nice things about him, and Rowan would praise him, making everything fine again.
"Thank you, Ms. Nelsen. But some people online think you’re just pretending to care. Mr. Nelsen wants you to really understand what charity means," Benjamin said.
"What do you mean?" Camille asked, confused.
Benjamin patiently explained to her, "Mr. Nelsen wants you to live in a rural village for a while, stay with the people there and experience their life. That way, you can prove you’re being sincere."
"No way! Why would I live there? I’d rather die first!" Camille shouted. The thought of going back to a rural village was a nightmare.
Before the Nelsen family brought her back to the Nelsen Villa, she had lived with foster parents in a rural area. They abused her, made her work nonstop, barely fed her, and beat her for no reason.
Her worst memory was when she accidentally broke her foster mother’s moisturizer. She was beaten and thrown into the pig pen, where she had to sleep and eat with the pigs for days.
She had almost buried those memories. She didn’t want to remember, much less to experience them again.
"Your plane ticket is ready, Ms. Nelsen. Please head to the airport now," Benjamin said calmly.
Then he gave a quick look at the bodyguard beside him. The man approached her and began dragging Camille toward the exit.
