Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback-Chapter 291: A Well-deserved Reward
Chapter 291: Chapter 291: A Well-deserved Reward
"She said she only wanted to drag you into a scandal that day at the restaurant. She never meant to hurt Mrs. Wilson. Also, she noticed a few suspicious people hanging around the area." Ashton quickly explained after noticing Daniel’s gloomy expression.
"Take me to her," Daniel told Ashton as his face turned cold.
As soon as he left, Railer wrapped his arms around Chantelle and hugged her tightly.
"Mommy!" he uttered excitedly.
He glanced at Daniel, who was already walking away. In his heart, he thought, Daddy, this is all I can do. I hope Mommy forgives you soon.
"Rai, what are you looking at?" Chantelle asked, noticing his eyes still following Daniel.
"Hey, where’s Daddy going now?" Kane asked as he ran after Daniel. Stephanie quickly followed him.
"Mommy, I think Daddy was crying just now," Railer said, lying without a hint of guilt. He saw that Chantelle was hesitating to go after Daniel.
Chantelle raised an eyebrow. "He was crying? Why?"
Surely, he wouldn’t cry just because she scolded him.
"I’m not really sure," Railer replied. "But I heard him feebly saying sorry to you again and again."
Railer always looked calm and thoughtful around adults. No one would suspect him of lying.
"I also saw him drinking. He has stomach problems, and... I don’t know..."
"Calvin, look after Rai. I’m going to check on them," Chantelle said as she handed Railer over. Then she quickly ran after Kane and Stephanie.
Railer asked Calvin to take him to the small resting area. He had left his toy laptop there.
As soon as he turned it on, his whole vibe changed. He was back to being the calm and sharp little expert in stock trading.
Just then, Roman showed up at the door. "My dear grandson, look what I brought you," he said with a big smile, holding up a snack.
His grin stretched wide, and the wrinkles around his eyes deepened with joy.
"Mr. Bently, please leave now," Calvin said as he blocked the way.
Roman looked toward the room, clearly looking at Railer inside the room.
"Let him in," Railer’s voice came from behind. freёweɓnovel_com
Roman’s eyes lit up. He quickly looked at Calvin, hoping he would allow it.
Calvin hesitated. Roman had a terrible reputation. He turned to Railer and said, "Railer, he might do something bad to you..."
"Uncle Calvin, don’t worry. Just let him in," Railer said softly and politely asked Calvin to move aside.
Roman walked in and handed him some snacks. "Try this. Your mommy used to love it when she was a child."
"That’s because she only got what Kate left behind. She was starving to death for sure that time," Railer replied with a blank face as he said the truth.
Roman looked a bit embarrassed. He slapped himself twice, then looked at Railer seriously. "I was so blind back then. Please forgive me, my dear grandson."
Railer didn’t respond to that. Instead, he turned his laptop screen toward Roman and said, "You did well today. This is your reward."
There was one stock that had been bullish in the stock market.
"Two million dollars! I made two million!" Roman shouted as he jumped around in excitement. "Rai, you’re really my lucky star!"
"As long as you do your job right, you’ll get what you deserve," Railer said as he waved his hand, signaling Roman to leave.
Roman didn’t dare to linger. He left cheerfully, still holding his snacks.
Just as he expected, only Chantelle could protect his life. And only Railer could help him rise back to the top. He had to keep a good relationship with both of them. No one could be allowed to ruin that.
After Roman left, Calvin couldn’t hold back his curiosity. "Rai, how do you know him?" he asked.
"It was just a coincidence," Railer replied shortly.
Back then, Roman had tried to hurt Chantelle. But after failing, it was Chantelle who treated his injuries. She didn’t press charges or go after him. She simply threw him out and never looked back.
Later, Ruby and James got their revenge on him. He nearly lost his life a few times.
One day, he came looking for help. But only Railer was at the villa when he arrived.
He had dropped to his knees and begged Railer for help.
At first, Railer wanted to ignore him. But Roman held tightly to his legs and wouldn’t let go.
Railer finally said, "If you want Mommy to help you, then be useful to her."
To prove he was serious about switching sides, Roman told Railer about Camille’s plan to trap Daniel at the restaurant. Railer passed the info to Daniel, which helped him make his move.
As a thank-you, Railer took Roman’s last two thousand dollars and bought a stock. It earned Roman two hundred thousand.
From that moment on, Roman practically worshiped Railer. He also swore loyalty to both Chantelle and Railer.
When Railer asked Roman how to fix a rocky relationship, Roman scratched his head and said, "Jealousy and guilt."
Railer thought about it and came up with a plan. He wanted to make Daniel jealous and make Chantelle feel bad for him. When he saw Chantelle running toward Daniel with a guilty look, he believed Roman’s advice had worked. That’s why he gave Roman a generous reward earlier.
Also, Roman had caught a model who was secretly spying at the event. That helped protect the show, so the reward was well-earned.
Just then, there was a loud noise outside.
"Daniel, I’m telling the truth! You have to believe me!" someone shouted.
Railer stepped out to see what was happening. He saw Daniel running after Chantelle while Camille stood behind them, crying.
However, before Camille could follow them, Kane and Stephanie swiftly intervened and blocked her path.
"Daniel, I swear I didn’t drug you! Please believe me! I only came to talk about what happened at the restaurant," Camille cried out as Daniel kept walking away without even glancing back.
But Daniel didn’t stop. He went straight to catch up with Chantelle, trying to get into her car.
Chantelle was about to tell him to leave, but her eyes caught someone she recognized. A woman had just come out of the fashion show, holding onto a man. She looked around carefully before getting into a black car.
"Calvin, follow that car," Chantelle said, ignoring Daniel completely.
"Ms. Chantelle, that’s Brian’s car," Calvin said after driving behind it for a while and checking the license plate.
