Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback-Chapter 279: Don’t Be Stubborn
Chapter 279: Chapter 279: Don’t Be Stubborn
Philip happened to take a bite of the eggplant first.
"Oh my God! Is this eggplant mixed with poison? It almost killed me!" he shouted as he spat it out.
Even after that, the awful taste stayed in his mouth. He ran straight to the bathroom and threw up for a long time.
"Mr. Wilson, I suddenly feel like eating a pancake," Chantelle said and her hand shook slightly as she held the fork.
"There are no ingredients," Daniel replied with a dark face. He clearly wasn’t in a good mood.
Daniel had spent the whole morning trying to cook dishes that at least looked normal. But Philip ruined everything.
Yes, you destroyed all the ingredients. Chantelle complained to herself
"The food’s cold now. Let’s go eat out," Daniel said as he helped Chantelle up.
Chantelle looked relieved.
The kids let out a breath too, especially Kane, who dropped his fork and ran straight to the door.
"Daddy, someone smart like you shouldn’t be wasting time in the kitchen."
"Daddy, you should focus on work and make more money for Mommy. That’ll make her happier."
Kane and Railer spoke one after the other, trying to convince Daniel.
To save face, Daniel nodded. "Of course. I won’t waste time cooking again."
Stephanie glanced at her brothers and gave them a silent, disdainful look.
"Princess Steph, what do you want to eat?" Daniel asked as he suddenly picked her up.
"As long as it’s not your cooking, I’m fine," Stephanie replied without holding back.
She only told Chantelle to eat his food because he had stayed by her side all night. That didn’t mean she actually liked the food.
Daniel’s face stiffened. The bodyguards quickly looked down, nervous. They had never seen anyone point out Daniel’s flaws like that.
"Alright then, how about steak?" Daniel said swiftly as he forced a smile.
The bodyguards felt like their image of Daniel had completely shattered.
"Mommy?" Stephanie turned to look at Chantelle.
Chantelle gently touched her face. "Okay, let’s go eat steak. You like it, after all."
By the time they reached the restaurant, it was almost noon. The place was full of people having lunch.
But Daniel was a VIP there. He had his own private room reserved year-round. They didn’t have to wait long to be served.
"Daniel!"
A familiar voice suddenly broke the warm moment they were sharing.
Daniel was about to kiss Stephanie’s cheek. But as soon as Camille’s voice came in, Stephanie quickly jumped into Chantelle’s arms. Her eyes were filled with anger.
Camille’s excited smile had disappeared when she saw Daniel’s cold stare.
"Mr. Wilson, Ms. Chantelle, what a coincidence!" Rowan said as he appeared from behind Camille.
He looked pleased. He had been looking for a chance to get close to Chantelle.
"Hello, Uncle Rowan." Stephanie greeted him warmly. She liked Rowan.
"Hello, Princess Steph." Rowan smiled and reached out to touch her cheek.
But before he could do it, Daniel quickly stood in front of him and blocked him.

Chantelle gave Rowan a polite greeting. Then, her eyes turned to Camille.
Uh, it’s only been a few days since I last saw Camille. But she looks almost unrecognizable now. Chantelle thought to herself.
Chantelle was honestly surprised when she saw Camille’s super short hair.
Camille’s looks could actually handle the short hairstyle. But since she always acted pitiful around Daniel, that same expression looked strange with the new haircut.
Aside from the haircut, what really shocked Chantelle was Camille’s face. It looked like she had smeared it with ointments and random patches of makeup.
"Auntie Camille’s new hairstyle is pretty," Stephanie said suddenly.
Everyone turned to look at Camille’s hair.
Camille had been wearing a hat earlier. But when she got out of the car, a strong gust of wind blew it away. That’s why she walked into the restaurant with her head down, hoping no one would notice.
Camille felt a bit relieved when Daniel didn’t look at her hair for too long. But once Stephanie mentioned it, not only Daniel, but everyone nearby turned to look at her.
Camille shot Stephanie a sharp glare. Stephanie quickly hid in Chantelle’s arms, scared.
Daniel noticed it and gave Camille a cold look.
Trying to break the tension, Rowan quickly spoke up.
"We came here for lunch but didn’t know we needed to reserve seats in advance prior to coming here. Looks like we might have to skip lunch today."
"Daniel, you’re a member here, right?" Camille asked with a hopeful look. "Can we join you for lunch?"
Daniel was already annoyed, first because Rowan tried to touch Stephanie, and then because Camille glared at her. Without even thinking, he turned them down.
"It’s inconvenient," he said coldly.
"We’re sorry for the trouble..." Rowan quickly apologized, then shifted the topic to business. He was clearly hoping to use this chance to get closer to Chantelle.
"Ms. Chantelle, I know I upset you before," Camille said, lowering her voice just enough so Daniel wouldn’t hear it clearly. She turned her back to him and grabbed Chantelle’s hands. "Can you be the bigger person and let it go? What happened between us shouldn’t affect Ro and Daniel’s business. Don’t be so stubborn."
Seriously? Does she think I’m that easy to push around? Chantelle, who had been observing quietly, suddenly got dragged into it. She gave a cold smirk and slapped Camille’s hand away.
"Too bad. I am the stubborn type," she said.
With that, she turned to leave and walked toward the private room with her kids.
"I don’t get what Mr. Wilson sees in her," one woman nearby whispered.
"She’s a total flirt and acts like a child."
"Maybe she’s just really good in bed," the other replied with an annoyed look.
They had overheard what Camille had said and couldn’t help but gossip about it.
"Miss Spiky Hair, my daddy doesn’t want to eat with you, but you keep bothering him," Kane said with a straight face. "He’s the one who doesn’t want you here, so maybe you should blame him instead of Mommy."
Kane looked up at Camille with wide, innocent eyes.
When he called her Miss Spiky Hair, the two women nearby couldn’t hold back their laughter.
"Are you here to do face-changing tricks, like those people who wear masks?" Railer added. "You must be really so obsessed with our dad. Daddy turned you down so many times, and you’re still trying to grab his attention. You even wore that wild makeup just to impress him."
