Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback-Chapter 276: Are You Tired?
Chapter 276: Chapter 276: Are You Tired?
Hmph. I forgot Daniel could act, too.
Chantelle felt chills all over her body. She sat down on the sofa right away.
"Are you tired? What do you want to know? I’ll ask her for you," Daniel said softly.
Chantelle shook her head. "Just wait five more minutes."
"What are you waiting for?! Everything I said is true! You’re just too dumb to believe it! Let me go, or you’ll regret it!" Ruby yelled.
Before she could finish, a sharp pain hit her head.
She rolled off the chair and hit the ground hard. She kept twisting on the floor for a few minutes.
Then she lay still. Her eyes were empty, and her face was blank. She started mumbling nonsense, over and over again.
"I didn’t mean to hurt you... You were just in my way..."
"Who did you hurt?" Chantelle took the opportunity to ask Ruby.
"Eliza Harvey."
Chantelle didn’t know who Eliza was, but she had a few ideas.
Then Ruby started mumbling again.
"Master, I was wrong... Give me another chance... I’m loyal to you..."
"Who is your master?" Chantelle asked again.
"Master, I’ll help Young Master kill Daniel. Please trust me! I’m useful!"
"Young Master... Is that Joseph?" Chantelle pressed down on Ruby’s shoulder.

"Mr. Joseph, please don’t kill me... Everything I gave you is real..."
"What did you give Joseph?" Chantelle quickly asked.
"The clues from six years ago..."
Ruby’s mind was still strong. It took a while before Chantelle finally got the truth.
Ruby admitted that her young master was Joseph.
She had given Joseph information that helped betray the Wilson Group Of Companies six years ago.
Joseph was working under a man named Trenton.
But when Chantelle asked more questions, Ruby started to lose focus.
She went back to rambling about how she had tried to cause trouble between Daniel and Chantelle.
Chantelle figured it out.
Joseph must have brainwashed Ruby before letting her out. He had filled her head with those words, making sure she repeated them.
Even with the hallucinogens, Ruby still remembered to say those things to mess with Chantelle and Daniel.
When did Jo become so annoying?
Chantelle was speechless.
"She’s lying," Daniel said quickly when he noticed Chantelle was in deep thought.
Chantelle looked up and gave a small smile. She touched his Adam’s apple and leaned closer to his ear.
"Mr. Wilson, are you doubting yourself?"
"You’re so beautiful, I just want to protect you," he murmured softly as his lips brushed her ear, making Chantelle slightly flinch. "I’m afraid someone else might take you away."
"That’s too bad," she whispered. "You can’t hide me forever. I like to shine in front of everyone."
Chantelle pulled back gracefully. She opened the door and signaled the bodyguards to take Ruby away.
Daniel’s men didn’t stop her. They all knew by now that Chantelle made the decisions in Daniel’s household.
Once she got into the car, Calvin turned to her.
"Ms. Chantelle, what do we do with Ruby?"
"Send her to James," she said. "Give her a dose of hallucinogen first."
"Got it," Calvin replied, lifting his brow slightly.
Based on the investigation, Ruby dumped her old lover James the moment she caught Brian’s attention.
She treated James terribly back then and humiliated him.
After Roman injured James and left him unable to function as a man, James turned cold and brutal.
If Ruby ended up with him now, things wouldn’t go well for her.
"Did you find the thugs who caused trouble at Thea’s store?" Chantelle asked, resting her head on her hand.
Calvin answered quickly, "Yes. They’re Steve’s men."
"Tell them Joseph wants them dead. He’s scared they’ll spill the truth."
Joseph likes to push us away. I can play the same game with him.
"They’re just small-time thugs. They won’t cause big trouble for Joseph."
"Calvin, even if they’re not powerful, they can still cause trouble for Joseph," Chantelle said. She knew those thugs weren’t a big deal, but they could still be a headache for Joseph.
"You’re smart," Calvin said, glancing at her through the rearview mirror as he drove.
Ever since Chantelle left the private kitchen restaurant, her mood had seemed to change. He was starting to worry she might get sick.
Chantelle noticed his concern. "I’m okay. Don’t worry. Let’s talk about Ms. Parker. How’s the investigation going?"
"This is her file," Calvin said, handing over a folder.
Chantelle opened it and started reading. Shiela Parker was born and raised in Easthan. Her family background looked simple. The only odd thing was that her family suddenly got rich the same year she was born.
The scar on Shiela’s arm came from a burn she got at the hospital when she was born.
It wasn’t a coincidence. Chantelle had the same kind of burn. There was a good chance she was born in that same hospital too.
"Have someone look into all the babies born in that hospital on the same day as Ms. Parker."
"Do you think you and Ms. Parker..." Calvin paused, unsure if he should finish his question.
"I just want to know who my real mother is," Chantelle said. She was curious, but it wasn’t something she had to know. It was just that she happened to find a clue, so she chose to look into it.
Calvin nodded and quickly told the team to start the investigation.
Chantelle didn’t say anything again. She leaned back and closed her eyes to rest. The car fell silent, but Calvin kept glancing at her through the mirror, still worried.
When they reached the entrance of James’ apartment, Chantelle finally spoke. Her voice was slightly trembling.
"Calvin, Trenton is coming."
Calvin’s back stiffened. He gripped the steering wheel tightly, and the veins in his hands popped out.
Trenton never showed up to do things himself, but just hearing his name was enough to scare anyone in the underworld.
Sadly, Chantelle had provoked him. Most of the pain she had suffered over the past six years was because of him. That’s why she was deeply scared of him.
"Trenton still won’t leave me alone," Chantelle said, taking a deep breath.
Calvin looked at her and said firmly, "Don’t worry. We’ll protect you."
"Calvin, I’m scared of Trenton. He keeps trying to take my children away."
Chantelle suddenly felt nervous. If Daniel was the nightmare of her past, then Trenton was the devil who never stopped tormenting her these past six years.
