Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback-Chapter 274: I Haven’t Seen In Years
Chapter 274: Chapter 274: I Haven’t Seen In Years
At Sunshine Villa, Rowan hurried back after getting a call from William. He was shocked to see Camille wrapped up in bandages like a mummy.
He had already seen the video clip his younger brother sent. In it, Camille was shouting "damn old man" and holding a glass bottle to hit Stephanie.
"I’m sorry, Uncle Rowan," Stephanie said, sniffling.
Rowan gently touched her cheek. "This isn’t your fault. You don’t need to say sorry."
"If I had known Auntie hated me this much, I wouldn’t have stayed here. I caused too much trouble." Tears rolled down her face like little diamonds.
"Stephanie, she doesn’t hate you," Rowan said softly. "She’s just... had a fever."
To him, calling it a "fever" was the kindest way to explain Camille’s strange behavior.
Maybe she had lost her mind to say such things.
"Steph, your favorite brother is here to take you home!" Kane shouted as he rushed in and pulled Stephanie out of Rowan’s arms.
"What’s your problem? Why is Stephanie crying?" Kane shot Rowan a sharp look.
"It wasn’t me," Rowan said quickly, shaking his head, and feeling a little embarrassed.
"Calm down, Kane," Stephanie said softly as she patted his back. But the kind gesture made Kane stiffen with discomfort.
"Let’s go home, Steph. I’m starving. I want Dad’s pancakes," Kane said with a grin.
He played his part well, and no one even noticed what Stephanie might do next.
"Uncle Rowan, I don’t want to bother you anymore. I’ll ask Mommy to send you something to say sorry," Stephanie said politely.
"There’s no need. I’m fine," Rowan replied. Seeing how polite she was made his doubts slowly disappear.
The bodyguard, thinking Stephanie might still be upset, explained everything that had happened earlier; especially what Camille had done.
Rowan was furious. He felt like storming into the hospital to drag Camille out and punch her.
Luckily, Chantelle stopped him just in time. If she hadn’t, things might have turned into a full-blown fight between the Nelsen and Wilson families.
"Have you done your part properly?" Stephanie asked, looking straight at Kane.
Kane, who had been lounging on the couch, jumped up. "Don’t worry, Stephanie. It’s all set."
They had planned everything earlier that morning. Their goal was to make Ruby Bently pay for what she did.
On the way, they came across some hacked messages on Chantelle’s phone. That’s what pushed them to target Ruby and Camille.
Ruby was staying at Joseph’s place, heavily guarded. Kane had a hard time breaching the security system at Joseph’s villa.
Then he hacked Brian’s phone and used it to send Ruby a message, pretending it came from Brian, to lure her out.
Kane also sent a fake message asking Ruby to go to Joseph’s study. When she left the room, he sneaked in and stole a document related to Morgan Corporation.
Later, when Joseph found out that only Ruby had entered his study, he believed she had done it on purpose.
Ruby had worked hard to support Joseph in his fight against Daniel and Chantelle. But because of Kane’s scheme, all that trust was gone.
As soon as Joseph withdrew his protection, Ruby was taken by Daniel’s men the moment she stepped outside.

Chantelle planned to visit Daniel at the Wilson Group Of Companies. But after buying dinner and placing the food box in the car, she changed her mind.
Something Daniel had done recently touched her deeply.
It made her want to let go of all the resentment between them. Chantelle was slowly slipping back into her old self; the silent wife who loved Daniel, looked after him, and tried to make him happy.
But in doing it, she felt trapped in his world, struggling to breathe.
As she sat in the car, the words of the private kitchen owner echoed in her mind.
"I haven’t seen you in years. I thought your husband didn’t like our food anymore. A woman like you, who is a loyal wife and loving mother, is hard to find these days."
For the past six years, Chantelle had believed that being a "virtuous wife and loving mother" described her perfectly. But now, she wondered; Why did that old version of herself come back?
If everything returned to how it was six years ago, then all the changes she had made would mean nothing. Everything she had endured would feel pointless.
Every night for the last six years, Chantelle had the same dream. In it, she was always running after Daniel, trying to explain herself. But he didn’t believe her. She even begged him to help her and the children, but he turned his back on her. The dream always ended with her feeling helpless, like she was trapped in silk, unable to escape.
The old man in the private kitchen might not have known who she really was. He was getting old and probably had no idea about the news. But she knew herself. And that was what mattered.
"Ms. Chantelle!" Calvin called out. He noticed something was off about her. Without hesitation, he pulled out her usual medicine and helped her take it.
"I can’t. I can’t return to my old self because of Daniel..." Chantelle whispered.
"Ms. Chantelle, I’m calling Dr. Jones now. I’ll take you to the hospital," Calvin said, clearly worried.
But Chantelle grabbed the phone from his hand. "No. I’ll be fine in a minute."
Dr. Jones was close to Philip now. If he found out, Philip would know, and he surely would tell Daniel. Chantelle didn’t want to face Daniel at this time.
She leaned back in her seat and took a deep breath. Slowly, the color returned to her face.
Calvin finally felt a bit of relief.
About thirty minutes later, Chantelle had calmed down. She set the food box aside and said coldly, "Find Ruby Bently."
When Calvin told her Ruby had already been found, Chantelle hesitated. For a moment, she had thought about going to see Daniel instead.
But now, she didn’t understand why she had even considered it.
While caring for Daniel, she had always felt something deep inside like a huge distance between them. It was like an invisible wall. Neither of them acknowledged it, pretending it wasn’t there.
Back then, she was too caught up in her feelings to notice. But now, clear-headed, she could feel that barrier. And it felt more real and heavier than ever.
"Our men took Ruby to the hotel and locked her up, but Daniel—"
"He’s not a problem," Chantelle said coldly, pushing the food box farther away. She didn’t want to think about him anymore.
When Chantelle’s Lamborghini pulled up at the hotel entrance, a familiar Rolls-Royce stopped right next to it.
