Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback-Chapter 259: Did He Think He Was Unstoppable?
Chapter 259: Chapter 259: Did He Think He Was Unstoppable?
"You want me to visit the woman who plotted against my wife?" Daniel scoffed.
"There’s been a misunderstanding, Mr. Wilson. Come to the hospital. I’ll explain everything."
"No, thank you." Daniel quickly refused.
"Mr. Wilson, the Nelsen and Wilson families have been close for years. Are you really going to ruin that over a small misunderstanding?"
"My wife’s situation is not a small misunderstanding. You better watch your sister. I won’t be so kind next time."
If Rowan hadn’t called, Daniel might have forgotten that Chantelle wouldn’t have fallen if it weren’t for Camille’s scheme.
"If you won’t come, Mr. Wilson, the Nelsen family will pull our projects from the Wilson Group of Companies. Also, Ms. Bently might not be able to keep running the Charity Association."
The Nelsen family led several important projects for the Wilson Group. Daniel could lose millions if they left.
He didn’t care about the money. What mattered most was Chantelle’s Charity Association.
Chantelle cared deeply about it. She would be upset if the Nelsen family ruined it.
"No one has dared to threaten me like that in years."
"I just hope Mr. Wilson knows how much I love my sister." Rowan didn’t want to be cruel, but Camille was seriously ill. She had called Old Mr. Nelsen and cried, making him very angry.
He even said that if he didn’t know Daniel, he would want the Wilson Group Of Companies to vanish from Easthan.
What he didn’t realize was that the Wilson Group Of Companies was now much stronger than before.
Under Daniel’s management, the company grew a lot. Old Mr. Nelsen rarely paid attention to the local market and missed a lot.
If the Nelsen family fought the Wilson Group, it would be hard for them to get a share of the local market again.
Rowan had nothing to use against Daniel, so he chose to threaten Chantelle instead.
He also secretly hoped to draw Chantelle into the situation to get closer to her and understand her better.
If he was right, no matter how upset the Nelsen family was with the Wilsons, their cooperation would stay once the truth was out.
After putting her kids to bed, Chantelle couldn’t sleep. Her mind kept racing about everything that had happened.
She heard an engine rumble. It was Daniel’s car.
"It’s late. Where are you going?" Chantelle called him.
It was four in the morning. Why was he leaving so early after everything that happened yesterday? Did he think he was unstoppable?
"There’s something I need to do. Don’t worry. Go back to sleep."
"Rest when you get back, Daniel. Don’t wear yourself out." Chantelle’s voice showed her worry.
Daniel’s dark expression softened. He laughed gently after hearing her words. "I’ll only listen to my dearest wife."
When Daniel got to the hospital, Camille’s fever had gone down. She was resting quietly in her bed with no problems.
"Mr. Nelsen, let’s be honest and clear."
Daniel agreed to meet them not because of Camille or Rowan’s threats. He cared about Chantelle’s Charity Association and believed he could protect it.
He was here because of Old Mr. Nelsen.
When Daniel was young, Old Mr. Wilson was still the head of the Wilson family. But even then, Daniel had already been appointed as the heir to the Wilson Group of Companies.
Sadly, not everyone around them was happy about it. Some people even tried to kill him.
At one banquet, Daniel was almost drowned silently in the pool if Old Mr. Nelsen hadn’t saved him.
"Yesterday during the fire, I lied to you so you could look for Camille while searching for Chantelle," Rowan said awkwardly.
Daniel replied without emotion, "Shouldn’t the Nelsen family handle that kind of situation?"
"Camille requested to only bring a few bodyguards to show our sincerity to Chantelle. I didn’t think much and agreed to it. I never expected something like this to happen."
Actually, Rowan didn’t bring many bodyguards to Easthan because he was only here briefly to deal with Camille’s problem.
He thought that because of who he was, no one would dare to offend them.
"Ms. Nelsen wasn’t like this before."
Daniel’s mother and Camille’s mother were close friends. They arranged a betrothal when they were young because Old Mr. Nelsen had saved Daniel’s life.
The Nelsen and Wilson families had a good relationship over a few decades.
Daniel had known Camille since she was a child. He remembered her as shy. He didn’t expect her to change drastically.
"Actually, I had my doubts too. When she first returned to our family, she was very careful and humble. Everyone felt sorry for her and spoiled her. Maybe jealousy and bad influences changed her."
The Nelsen family had only one daughter in Rowan’s generation. Sadly, Camille was taken away by her mother as a child and was missing for seven years.
Because of that, everyone spoiled her a lot. They told her to be confident and trust her family. The Nelsen family would always support her.
Later, she lived alone with her grandpa and was good at making him happy.
Rowan was busy with school and work most of the time, so he rarely saw his sister. But he always brought her many gifts when they met.
She hardly ever reached out to him or asked for anything.
Rowan always remembered her as a gentle and obedient little girl.
Recently, their Grandpa got very sick. Rowan went back to visit and stayed with him for a while.
He noticed Camille acted sweet and innocent around their Grandpa but was mean to the servants when no one was watching.
He was confused, so he observed her silently. He saw the servants were afraid of her, and she seemed restless and cruel.
His mother had four children. Even though Camille lived apart from her siblings for seven years, they all grew up in the same environment. It didn’t make sense for her to become cruel and mean.
On the other hand, she was raised by Grandpa. She should have been much better. But her personality had problems, and she wasn’t as smart as the rest of the Nelsen family.
So, Rowan offered to take Camille back to Easthan with him.
Their Grandpa’s health was getting worse every day. He trusted Camille completely since she had lived with him for over ten years. He would never doubt her and because of his guilt toward Rowan’s parents, he would do anything for Camille.
If Old Mr. Nelson was still in his right mind, he would never threaten to make the Wilson family disappear.
Daniel didn’t care much about Camille’s problems, but he saw she was two-faced toward the Nelsen family.
"Chantelle is fine, so I’ll let this slide to repay my debt to Old Mr. Nelsen. But I won’t forgive her if this happens again."
