Mr.CEO Looks Exactly the Same as My Son!-Chapter 862: What Is There to Be Reluctant About
"I’m a bit busy today. I have to discuss a collaboration this afternoon. Could we do it tomorrow?"
He spoke with a somewhat negotiating tone, utterly unaware that Lan Shan would be leaving tomorrow.
"Never mind. No need, you go focus on your work. I can go alone." 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
"Alright then, let the butler take you."
He glanced at the time, reckoning he was running late, and after saying a few more words to her, he left directly.
Lan Shan stood there for quite a while, lost in thought, before lowering her gaze and heading to the dining room, where she casually ate something, then went back to her room to change clothes and went out alone for a stroll.
She said she was out shopping, but when she arrived at her destination and saw the bustling crowds, she lost interest in walking around and went back after wandering for a bit.
She stayed in her room all day, going nowhere. At dinner time, Gong Shaoyu didn’t come back, which left her feeling tense, and she ate little before returning to her bedroom.
She lightly bit her lip and gazed around the room she had lived in for so long, lost in thought.
With a gentle sigh, she prepared her suitcase again, leaving out only a set of clothes for tomorrow, and packed everything else inside.
Sitting on the sofa in the room, she stared blankly out the window.
At ten in the evening, Gong Shaoyu still hadn’t returned.
She got up and left the room, standing in the corridor and looking at the empty villa, feeling somewhat disheartened.
In the end, she still had to leave. What was there to be reluctant about? After all, it was not really her home...
The servants had mostly retired to their rooms, and the place was quiet.
She went to the kitchen, opened the fridge, and looked inside, intending to find some fruit. By chance, she saw there was wine, so she grabbed two bottles, along with a glass, and went back to the dining room. She pulled out a chair, sat down, opened a bottle, poured herself a glass, and drank it down.
She drank a bit too hastily, accidentally choking, and coughed violently, which seemed terribly abrupt in the vast dining room.
"Brother Gong, I just want to be by your side for one last day, just one day, I don’t dare to ask for more."
Yet she waited all day but did not get to see the person she wanted to meet return.
Initially, she thought burying her feelings inside would prevent the hurt, but why did her heart ache so when it was time to leave?
It hurt so much, like thousands of ants crawling, making it hard to breathe.
Her eyes unwittingly reddened, and she turned her head, looking toward the door, but still, there was no sign of movement.
She poured another glass, and as if drinking plain water, she downed it directly.
When Gong Shaoyu returned, it was already past eleven, and as soon as he entered the house, he smelled the strong scent of alcohol, with many empty bottles on the table in front of Lan Shan.
He walked over and stood by her side, glancing down.
"Why did you drink so much?"
Frowning tightly, he reached out as if to take the glass from her hand.
She shifted aside, lowered her eyes, hiding the red in them from his view, and spoke quietly, "Brother Gong, you’re back."
She realized the more she wanted to get drunk, the clearer her mind seemed, like now, where she desperately wished she was in a drunken stupor, but she was not.
Gong Shaoyu ignored her, went into the kitchen, and when he returned, he had two more bottles of wine and a glass in his hand. He pulled out the chair beside her, sat down, and poured himself a glass.
He lightly clinked his glass against hers without uttering a word, and drank the wine in one gulp.
