Brooke’s face fell when he heard what she said. He pleaded with her earnestly, "Please, let’s not do that. We are responsible for the death of two and injury to many others. Let’s not kill more of this deer, or the Dyson family will be angry."

She waved his worries away and said, "No one will know we did it. If they find out, I’ll jist pay for the damages."

He tried another tactic, "If it is meat that you want, we can always buy some from the market. I know someone who sells good beef, mutton..."

She refused. "This is not about me. This is about getting revenge for Arthur. That is something that can’t be bought with money."

Then she added as a side note. "Besides, nothing taste better than stolen meat."

Brooks sighed again. He felt the weight of his years catching up to him.

He groaned inwardly and said, "You might be the death of me."

Vena had always been like this from when he escaped with her from their family. She was a troublemaker then and is still a troublemaker.

He would always try to convince her otherwise, but she wouldn’t listen to him. So he wasn’t surprised to find out that her son was also stubborn.

He thought mother and son were alike. After all, it is an inherited trait of the Alfred family.

It was their stubbornness that brought down the family in the first place. It was what made Vena clash with her family and run away. So he wasn’t surprised when it made Vena clash with her son and led to her son running away from home.

The difference in the two situations is that Lady Vena’s family didn’t care about her and wanted to sell her off, while Lady Vena cares a lot about her son and wants him to be safe. Yet, it led to the same outcome.

Of course, Lady Vena didn’t see these similarities. Or maybe she was just ignoring them. She let her stubbornness continue to lead her to create troubles for her son.

He sighed again and said, "I just hope Arthur doesn’t hate you like you hate your father."

After that fight, things became peaceful and prosperous for Arthur. Things literally couldn’t be better for him.

He would give out bread early in the morning and walk the short distance to the location of his new dojo.

His new dojo is on the outskirts of town, very close to the slums. It is actually very far from the spot he used to distribute bread in. But that wasn’t much of a problem since he could move to which part of town he performs his acts of charity at.

So he moved the location he distributes bread at close to the location of his new dojo. Not only did this bring the two places closer and make it easy for him to reach his dojo in time for class, but it also opened up a new group of people for him to give bread to.

The main disadvantage with this arrangement was that he had to discipline these new people and make them familiar with his rules.

It was a lot of work, but he was willing to do it for the advantages of the arrangement. One of those advantages was that he was now in the territory of another gang and could repeat the calamity that struck the Black Band gang.

For some reason, this new gang didn’t approach him at all. They didn’t want to make trouble with him.

In fact, he knew that they were avoiding him. He came to that conclusion when he went on a hunt for them.

The fact that they didn’t trouble him didn’t mean that he wouldn’t trouble them. Especially when he is looking forward to the rush of karma that their elimination would bring.

So he went in search of them after they failed to show up to harass him four days in a row. It was during his attempt to find them that he found out that they had decided to lay low after he began appearing in their territory.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t going to save them because they were not literally hiding. They were only limiting their activities in his vicinity, so he still found them after searching for a while.

What happened next was not a surprise. Actually, things went better because they recognized him and were afraid of him.

Instead of fighting, they chose to run or fall on their knees and beg for mercy. This compromised their ability to resist, which led to their swift deaths.

He got that rush of karma soon after. It was even higher than before because this gang was involved in money lending and prostitution.

They were vicious loan sharks who would lend poor people money at exorbitant interest rates and then force those people and family members into prostitution and slavery when they failed to pay back the loan.

It was not a matter of if they fail to pay back the loan. Anyone who loaned money would fail to return it and be forced into slavery, while anyone who didn’t loan money would be pressured and coerced into loaning money from them.

Once they got that certificate proving that someone borrowed money from them, they would do everything they could to make sure that they could use that certificate to gain the right to sell their victims into slavery.

If they didn’t have that certificate to pretend to be law-abiding citizens, the Dyson family would destroy them for dealing in the illegal acquisition and sale of slaves.

They were able to use their loan business to cover up their crimes for many years. But calamity struck when the crazy Red Mane dojo master appeared.

A lot of people hated them, so a lot of people were very happy for their elimination. Arthur was also happy because he got a lot of money from the gang and because he earned a lot of karma too.
