VIP ward
Song Xirou was lying on the hospital bed; a bandage stuck on her forehead and her foot was wrapped in a thick one, she looked rather miserable.
Zhang Tong sat at the bedside, watching over her unconscious daughter on the bed, her face masked with gloom.
“Auntie, it’s getting late. We should go back now. We’ll visit Xirou again when she wakes up tomorrow,” Quan Yifei said as darkness outside began to envelop the room.
Zhang Tong looked up at her and restrained her initial response when she noticed Rhee, “Alright, thank you for coming.”
After seeing off Rhee and Quan Yifei, Zhang Tong could no longer hold back her anger.
She glanced at Song Yi, her tone filled with discontent, “What were you doing outside the operating room, stopping me? Can’t you see how hurt Rourou is? Doesn’t it break your heart?”
Her daughter went to the Quan Family safe and sound, but now she’s in this condition. How could anyone be happy about it?
“That’s enough! Stop your nonsense,” Song Yi shouted with a grim face, “Rourou is still unconscious and we don’t know the actual circumstance. As soon as something happens, you blame all the responsibility on the Quan Family. What if Rourou actually fell down the staircase due to her carelessness, how do you suppose she’ll go on living then?”
Zhang Tong rebuffed, “Anyway, I can’t believe that Rourou would fall off the stairs for no reason. There’s definitely more to it than meets the eye.”
“Alright, we will discuss this once Rourou wakes up,” Song Yi said, “Take good care of her here, I still have a few meetings to attend at the company.”
With that, he picked up his coat, put it on, and walked out.
Meanwhile, Rhee and the others returned to their mansion. Only the Quan matriarch and Quan Mingxuan were in the living room.
“Feifei, how is Xirou doing?” As soon as they saw them return, the Quan Matriarch asked anxiously, “Is Xirou badly injured?”
Quan Yifei sat down next to her, “It’s okay for now, nothing life-threatening, but she needs a good rest.”
“That’s a relief,” the Quan Matriarch sighed in relief.
“Mom, where are Little Qingqing and Jingwu?” Rhee looked around the living room but didn’t see Jian Qing or Quan Jingwu.
“They’re upstairs.”
Rhee looked at the Quan Matriarch, a trace of hesitation flashing across her eyes.
Noticing Rhee’s hesitation, Quan Mingxuan casually broke the silence and said, “Grandmother, don’t believe everything Song Xirou tells you when she wakes up.”
He was aware of the life-saving favor Song Xirou had done for the Matriarch. What he feared was Song Xirou taking advantage of this and stirring up domestic strife by mouthing inappropriate things.
The Quan Matriarch was taken aback and looked at him puzzled, “Axuan, what do you mean?”
Considering what Song Xirou had said before she passed out, Quan Yifei felt it was necessary to alert their grandmother preemptively.
“Grandma, Xirou isn’t as nice as you think she is. You shouldn’t believe everything she says.”
Confused by what her grandchildren had said, the Quan Matriarch was left disoriented.
“You both seemed strange, I’m being led in circles. Did Xirou do something?”
Quan Mingxuan chuckled lightly, “Grandmother, I understand you have great affection for Song Xirou since she saved your life once. But to be honest, we don’t really like her that much. She isn’t as innocent and kind as she appears to be.”
Hearing this, the Quan Matriarch’s doubts grew even more. Before she could ask anything, Quan Mingxuan dropped another bombshell.
“Grandma, Song Xirou has feelings for Jingwu.”
At this, Rhee looked at Quan Mingxuan in surprise. As it turned out, not only did she have this feeling, Mingxuan shared the same thought. Seems like she hadn’t wronged Song Xirou after all.
“Axuan, who told you that? And also, Xirou told me that she has a boyfriend,” Quan Matriarch asked.

“Grandmother, we don’t know if what she says is true or false. How do you know she actually has a boyfriend?” Quan Mingxuan smirked, “Have you seen her boyfriend?”
On hearing this, the Quan Matriarch was left speechless and unable to refute.
Quan Mingxuan finished right there, stood up, and walked upstairs; Quan Yifei followed him.
“Mom, actually, Axuan and I share the same opinion. I don’t like that Song Xirou either,” Rhee added.
“Rhee, you think the same way?” The Quan Matriarch felt even more bewildered upon hearing this.
Rhee nodded, “Uh-huh.”
With everyone saying the same thing, the Quan Matriarch sunk into deep thought.
Could it be true that as one ages, their judgment of people becomes unreliable?
…
The sound of running water in the bathroom suddenly stopped; the bathroom door was pushed open, and a man with long legs stepped out.
He held a sleeping women with his strong arms, walked with long strides towards the bedside. The soft light poured on them, making them look like they were pieces of art.
“Baby!”
Quan Jingwu placed her on the bed, pulled the blanket over her, and called her softly by her ear.
Jian Qing’s brows slightly furrowed, her eyes tightly shut, her fair hands clung tightly onto his robe. She let out a soft hum, and fell sound asleep.
Looking at her adorable sleeping face, Quan Jingwu chuckled, put his big hand over her small hand, slipped under the blanket, and laid beside her.
He lowered his head to kiss her forehead, his fingers gently caressed her rosy cheeks and his thin lips broke into a charming smile.
After a while, he reached out for his phone and dialed Shen Hao.
“Cancel all collaborations with the Song Family.”
Upon hearing this, Shen Hao, who was dining with Fu Heng and others, looked surprised.
What did the people of the Song Family do to provoke his Boss again?
“Got it.” He didn’t ask any further and just answered.
After hanging up, Quan Jingwu threw his phone aside, pulling the girl in his arms even tighter.
Baby, no matter who it is, they can’t hurt you even the slightest bit.

Chu Family
“Baihao, why are you here?” Chu Yan looked up from the newspaper when he heard footsteps, greeted the newcomer with a smile, when he saw who it was.
“Grandpa Chu, I’m here to see Ruohan. Is she here?” The casually dressed man, clad in a blue windbreaker, boast an audacious look.
Mention of Chu Ruohan made Chu Yan’s smile fade, “She’s upstairs. What business do you have with her?”
Qin Baihao’s eyes darkened, he said with a smile, “Nothing special, I just haven’t seen her for the past few days. I thought of taking her out for a bit; after all, we will be getting married in a few days. I want to take her out shopping.”
Chu Yan closed his newspaper and said, “She has been feeling unwell over the past few days, so we didn’t let her go out. We didn’t want anything to disrupt the wedding.”
“She’s been unwell? Why didn’t anyone tell me sooner? If I had known, I would have rushed over to see her immediately.” Qin Baihao’s face was filled with worry and his tone was urgent, “How is she now? Is her condition serious?”
Seeing his anxious expression, anyone who didn’t know him better would’ve thought he was deeply in love with Chu Ruohan.
