Chapter 539: 525, Proposal in Prosperous Times (4)_1
Jian Qing feigned ignorance, “What do you mean? How am I supposed to know?”
Confronted by her perceptive eyes, Khan gave in and frankly asked, “Is the baby in Xiya’s belly mine?”
As expected, even someone slow on the uptake would eventually get it.
Oh, Xiya, it seems you couldn’t hide it from him for long.
Jian Qing curved her lips in a faint smile, “How am I supposed to know? Didn’t she call the baby’s father in front of you that day?”
“Who is that man?” Khan persisted, “When I accompanied her to the hospital, the doctor said she was more than six months pregnant. Xiya understated it by a month. So it must be my child, right?”
Jian Qing smiled innocently, “I really don’t know. Maybe the doctor got it wrong. If you don’t believe me, you can ask Xiya. As for who that man is, I’ve never met him. There’s no point asking me.”
“…”
Khan knew that Jian Qing would side with Xiya. He wouldn’t be able to get any information out of her.
“Jian Qing, I know I’ve hurt Xiya’s heart before, and I’ve been trying hard to make amends now. But she just doesn’t want to give me a chance. Can you help persuade her?”
Jian Qing’s eyebrows lightly arched, she softly said, “Khan, if you want someone’s heart, you have to give your heart in return. If you can’t grasp what Xiya really wants, you two will never be together. Mending a broken heart isn’t easy. Take some time to think about it.”
Having said that, she got into the car and left.
Khan rooted to his spot, mulling over Jian Qing’s words.
What does Xiya truly want?
As night fell and the snowfall grew heavier, the air seemed to freeze.
It was almost six o’clock, but still no familiar footsteps were heard at the door.
She tried calling twice, but no one answered.
In the end, Jian Qing couldn’t sit still anymore.
She put on her coat, about to go out when her mobile phone rang.
Seeing that it was Shen Hao calling, she instinctively tensed.
“Shen Hao, where is Xiaojing?”
From the other side of the call, a mix of commotion bled through. Jian Qing’s heart tightened.
“Ma’am, we’ve run into a bit of trouble,” Shen Hao’s voice was grave.
Jian Qing’s gaze hardened, “What happened? Has something happened to Xiaojing?”
“Madam, we had a setback, and we won’t be back for a while. We’re now at the shopping center nearest to the office.”
Upon hearing this, Jian Qing’s expression darkened, “I’m on my way.”
After ending the call, she grabbed her car keys and rushed out.
On the other end, after ending the call, Shen Hao turned around to a pair of icy eyes. The smile on his face abruptly froze.
“Boss!”
What had he done wrong again? Why was his boss looking at him with such unfriendly eyes?
“Couldn’t you have come up with a better excuse? What if dearest wife gets into an accident from rushing over?” Quan Jingwu schemingly said.
Tears welling in his eyes, Shen Hao silently cursed in his heart.
Boss, I was wrong. The freezing snow messed up my brain.

“Go check on the things we’ll need later.”
Before the words had fully left his mouth, Shen Hao darted off like he’d just been granted amnesty.
Quan Jingwu glanced at his wristwatch, a charming smile creeping onto his lips.
On the way, Jian Qing was rushing so fast that she ran several red lights, almost causing the traffic police to jump up in rage.
Upon reaching the location Shen Hao mentioned, Jian Qing rushed out of the car, her cold eyes scanning her surroundings.
As New Year was near, the streets were decorated with colorful lights, brightening up the snowy city of Beijing.
Perhaps because of the heavy snow, the shopping center appeared unusually deserted, not a soul in sight.
Jian Qing had Quan Jingwu on her mind, she didn’t pay any mind to the unusual desolation around her.
Despite the large exterior of the shopping center, Jian Qing quickly scanned her surroundings, but still couldn’t spot Quan Jingwu.
That’s right, Shen Hao.
Just as she reached into her pocket for her phone, a loud bang resounded.
“Bang bang bang––”
Reflexively, she looked up toward the sky, where under the night, fireworks burst. Their different shapes and colors looked like passionate meteor showers, illuminating the dark night sky like daylight.”
Just then, the elegant strains of a piano piece floated in the air. Recognizing the familiar melody, Jian Qing’s lips curled into a bewitching smile.
A captivating melody— Für Elise!
“Bang bang bang––”
The fireworks were endlessly mesmerizing.
Not far off, the man’s tall figure gradually came into view. His black overcoat made him appear colder and more intimidating. In the next second, Jian Qing’s gaze was immediately drawn to the purple-black rose he was holding.
She couldn’t help but think of that time on the yacht filled with Louis XIV roses.
In a blink of an eye, the man was before her. He looked down at her, furrowing his brows, “Why did you rush out without wrapping a scarf?”
“You tricked me.” Jian Qing put on a stern face and accused.
“It was Shen Hao who tricked you, not me. I’ll deduct his year-end bonus as punishment,” Quan Jingwu immediately distanced himself from the blame, selling out Shen Hao.
In his hiding spot, upon hearing these words, Shen Hao felt a chill run down his spine.
Jian Qing busted out laughing.
“What are you doing with such a large bouquet of roses?”
Quan Jingwu shoved the roses into her hands, “For you.”
“What are you giving me roses for?” Although Jian Qing had a subtle suspicion, she still asked.
Quan Jingwu gave a low chuckle and held her shoulders, gently turning her around, and whispered in her ear, “Look over there.”
Following his gaze, Jian Qing was filled with confusion.
Isn’t that the direction of JK International?
Quan Jingwu snapped his fingers, and the next second, the screen on top of JK International lit up.
In the screen, a man and a woman looked incredibly familiar.
At one glance, Jian Qing recognized it as a photo of her and Quan Jingwu. However, before she had the time to ask, the image on the screen changed.
There were photos taken at Shijin Haoting, at M Country, and even at the Quan Family old mansion. All of them were snapshots of their daily lives together.
Unbeknownst to her, they had already taken so many photos together, had so many shared memories.
Jian Qing was engrossed in watching the screen, as their memories together played out in her mind. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed that the big screen outside of the shopping center also displayed the same pictures.
She abruptly turned around and looked up at him, “You didn’t put these photos on every big screen in Beijing, did you?”
Quan Jingwu nodded, causing Jian Qing’s lips to quiver.
If he was proposing to her, of course, he would want everyone to witness it.
Suddenly, he let go of her and took a step back; then, he knelt down on one knee.
“Jingwu!”
Jian Qing watched the man kneeling in front of her, her eyes misting.
Although she always jokingly told him that if he didn’t propose, she wouldn’t marry him, seeing him kneeling before her, she suddenly regretted it.
Her Jingwu, he shouldn’t be kneeling before anyone, not even her. She couldn’t bear it.
