As the battle in the necropolis continued, Trinity had been looking at the different points of view from the drones that were gliding all around the corrupt districts.

The hacker tried her best to keep the drones far from Dante's fight, knowing that the wake of destruction would be enough to break the machines, so she was focused on searching for more necrotic cores while being vigilant.

At one moment, she noticed that one of her drones was hovering above the limit of the death ichor corrupting the city, and it seemed as if the shadowy mantle that had been covering the city started to shrink.

After confirming that the corrupted territory had shrunk, she contacted the Jade Dragons and spoke about her findings, and while Dante was barely able to listen to Trinity's words in the middle of his fight, the warlock already suspected that the necropolis was getting smaller.

Netherius had exhausted most of his inner power to corrupt the districts, create necrotic cores, summon Death Knights, and turn thousands into undead creatures.

Now that their battle had extended, Netherius had no choice but to use the energy from the necropolis itself, which explained the sudden and slight reduction of the corrupted area.

Right after Trinity reported the death ichor's change, she received an alert notification in one of her monitors, making the flashing red screen illuminate the hacker's dark room.

"Hmm?" Trinity hummed as she checked the cyber-security system she had developed herself.

Without waiting another second, she contacted Camille and explained the situation.

Someone was trying to break into the Jade Dragon's documents, but thanks to Trinity's defensive program, the hackers couldn't bypass the firewall.

While their information was safe, Trinity couldn't counter-hack her opponent to find any information about them, and after a few minutes of coding, the threat stopped, unable to bypass her defense.

Camille wondered if it could have been 'Spook,' who was Trinity's main rival when it came to hacking and had been working with the Onyx Cartel before.

Nonetheless, Trinity dispeled the notion, explaining that the way they were trying to break into their system was different from how Spook used to do it.

"An unknown enemy…?" Camille pondered while talking to Trinity on her earpiece.

"I don't know. It doesn't make much sense for the Onyx Cartel to hack us right now, considering the events…" Trinity replied.

Meanwhile, inside the necropolis, Dante and Asphodel were unleashing a barrage of attacks with their relics against Netherius.

Blood swirled and accumulated on the tip of Asphodel's blade, and with each thrust, a powerful, pressurized beam of blood shot out from her weapon with a power strong enough to demolish a whole building.

Black flames surrounded Dante with each of his slices, burning the remaining pieces of bones that were left from Netherius' attacks.

Their fight was like a dance of pure death and destruction. Blood, flames, and bones clashing in a desperate attempt to finish each other off.

After Netherius released another powerful wave of necrotic energy around him, Dante and Asphodel were flung dozens of meters away from him, but they promptly stood up without a break.

Both of them were covered in cuts and bruises, and while Asphodel had an eerily evil grin on her face, Dante could only frown in annoyance.

In a way, the two of them were quite similar. Dante also grinned like a madman in battle, but that was only when he encountered demons— to him, fighting other mages was a hassle.

Asphodel, on the other hand, always had a big smile when she fought opponents who were strong enough to kill her. It didn't matter if they were demons or humans—the closer she was to death, the bigger her smile.

"We've gone far enough…" Netherius' voice echoed, sounding slightly deeper and louder than usual.

The layers of bone covering the necromancer's body seemed to harden even more as spikes appeared on his forearms, an effect of absorbing more of the necropolis' energy.

"Surrender now and join me. I will allow you to stay alive if we end this…" Netherius continued.

"Heh, what do you mean!? This is the best part!" Asphodel shouted her reply, wiping the blood coming down her forehead while grinning.

"You seem keen on having us join you…" Dante commented, wiping the blood on his chin with an ice-cold expression.

"Don't flatter yourself, Hellslayer. It's your power that I want," Netherius replied, standing atop a hill of debris, looking down at the two.

"Together, 'they' won't have a chance against us. Join me!" He shouted.

"Who's 'they'? Dante pondered. However, his question only seemed to anger Netherius, making him roar and release a wave of necrotic energy from the sheer pressure of his shout.

"You truly don't know anything! Why are you even here!?" The necromancer shouted with evident anger and frustration laced in his voice.

Not wanting to continue their conversation, Netherius raised his arms and began to cover the street with bone spikes, urging Asphodel and Dante to fly away from the danger.

The two of them could tell that the necrotic energy from the necropolis was depleting as Netherius kept using it to fight the pair, but the power reduction was still not enough for them to take advantage of it.

"Hey, Dante…" Asphodel called the warlock as they hovered above the street. "How long should we keep this up for?" she asked.

"Depends… How much power do you think we can make him spend?" Dante replied with another question.

If Netherius kept efficiently using the necropolis' energy, it could take over six hours for the corruption to deplete to a point where they could easily kill Netherius. Nonetheless, if they forced him to use a lot more of the necrotic energy, then the corruption would decrease much faster.

The pair knew that they wouldn't be able to continue for six hours, considering they had already spent too much strength. So, their plan was to keep baiting Netherius into casting powerful spells that required larger amounts of energy.
