Modern World Warlock-Chapter 364: Megan’s Effort
As Asphodel noticed the spike going through her torso, Netherius was about to continue and execute the vampire with his scythe but was promptly halted by another blood thread created by Balthazar.
Dante instantly advanced and used his scythe to create a wall of black flames between Asphodel and Netherius, then used a "Destro" spell to shatter the bone and carry the vampire back, regaining some distance.
Asphodel gripped a healthstone tightly and gritted her teeth, coughing out blood and frowning with rage from the pain.
Letting out a sigh with a mix of relief and exhaustion, Dante gazed back at Netherius, who had already removed the wall of black flames with his overwhelming energy.
'It's no use. I'll run out of umbra before he runs out of necrotic energy…' Dante thought.
While he sensed that the overall necrotic air in the city was slowly diminishing, Netherius' powers only kept increasing.
It was easy for Dante to deduce that Netherius was using the energy that the corrupted district had accumulated, which meant that there was a limit to it. The problem was that he couldn't see the end anywhere near.
'I don't have any other options at the moment… I have to keep draining his power,' Dante pondered, clenching his scythe and lunging forward once again.

Meanwhile, at the southern checkpoint, Megan was lying with her back against a wall beside Vesnia.
The brunette could barely stay conscious from the exhaustion and wounds plaguing her body, but she still ordered Sami and Lexia to bring another android from their squad to her.
Vesnia couldn't move a single muscle, but the Death Knight was still awake, wondering if she would die at the hands of Netherius or if she would turn to dust after his death.
After Megan struggled a little to scoot closer to Vesnia and placed her hand on her shoulder, the Death Knight's eyes widened in surprise.
In Vesnia's mind, she could see the image of the young and kind Beatrice that had saved her once by secretly curing her disease, and the eerily resemblance of Megan left her speechless.
For a brief moment, Vesnia thought that it was the real Beatrice who was caring for her, but when the image of her soft and kind smile switched to the current cold and exhausted expression of Megan, she couldn't help but smirk.
As the cyborgs and other members of the Jade Dragons spectated Megan's actions, she closed her eyes and held the conversion stone close to Vesnia.
The android she ordered to approach got even closer and kneeled before the two. She had the appearance of a woman with short black hair and silver highlights—and for some reason, Megan believed it perfectly suited Vesnia.
The brunette knew that others from her team had already tried using the stone but failed. However, she was also aware that Imera was able to activate it, so it wasn't an impossible task.
Sami and Lexia witnessed Imera using it on the undead servants, but the Sacred Beast completed the process so quickly that their computer brains weren't able to process all of the information they needed to make it work themselves.
On the other hand, Megan was going through the conversion process quite slowly, focusing on transferring her umbra into the stone, which began to produce a small amount of necrotic energy.
As Megan opened her eyes and focused on the gem, Vesnia let out a gasp, feeling her life slipping away. However, the sensation only lasted for a few seconds when she noticed a glowing thread that traveled from her heart through the gem and into the android's body.
A drop of sweat trailed down Megan's temple as she maintained her focus, and when the gem stopped producing its faint glow, she widened her eyes in fear.
'Shit… Did I mess it up!?' She pondered, looking at Vesnia's lifeless body next to her.
Megan frowned, believing that she had brought the worst outcome, but her thoughts were interrupted by a woman's voice.
"I'm… alive?" Said the former android, kneeling in front of her.
"Vesnia?" Megan asked, her gaze locking on the android.
"Yes… I-I can move," Vesnia replied, staring at her hands while bending all of her fingers. freeweɓnovel.cøm
"My mind feels… clear?" She continued.
When the new cyborg looked back at Megan, she saw her eyes closed with contentment and a soft smile on her lips, bringing the image of Beatrice back into Vesnia's mind.
The similarities between Megan and Beatrice were mostly physical, and Vesnia was perfectly aware of that by seeing their utterly different expressions. However, for that brief second that Megan smiled at her, she looked like the perfect copy of Beatrice.
*Sigh* "I'm glad…" Megan commented, leaning back against the wall and saying that she needed a quick nap.
Vesnia wanted to wholeheartedly thank Megan, but the brunette fell asleep as soon as she stopped speaking.
"Damn, she actually did it. Though, I still don't really understand how to use the stone…" Alice said, moving Megan's body slightly so that she would be more comfortable.
"I got it!" Sami interjected, approaching the group and taking the conversion stone.
Thanks to Megan's slow show of energy conversion, Sami was able to process all of the information she needed in time, so she believed that she could now use the stone.
Calling one of the male android models to follow her, Sami approached the wounded Isidor, who had been conscious but silent for some time.
"W-What are you doing?" Isidor asked, slightly raising his gaze to look at the hell-cyborg.
"I'm following orders…" Sami replied, holding the stone between Isidor and the male android.
With a smirk on her face, the stone began to glow, and shortly after, the thread connecting the two bodies to the gem appeared.
As Isidor's eyes rolled back, he felt as if he had died for less than a second, looking down and noticing he was in an entirely new, cybernetic body.
There was confusion clearly plastered on his face, and when he looked back at Sami, the hell-cyborg was playfully smiling while rubbing her head.
