In one of the corrupted districts of the necropolis, Balthazar, Ezekiel, and June were patrolling the street near a hospital, which had a strong aura of necrotic energy flowing from it.

Ex-detective June had been grouped up with the elder vampire and a vampire sentinel, and while she had practiced some of her combat skills with them at the Jade Palace, she wasn't familiar with all of their abilities.

Moreover, June didn't control any kind of magic, which Balthazar believed could become a handicap for them if they were to encounter a powerful enemy. However, he kept those thoughts to himself.

As the trio approached the entrance of the corrupted hospital, June turned her head to the side and pushed the two vampires inside the building as she jumped back, followed by a large object crashing in between them a second later.

Balthazar turned around with perplexion. He couldn't sense the enemy approaching, but the woman who supposedly couldn't control magic was able to do it and react accordingly.

When the dust dissipated, the figure of an android appeared in the center, confusing the group for a moment.

They were expecting to encounter zombies, ghouls, and Death Knights, so seeing an android fighting for the necromancer caught them off-guard. Still, there was something about the android that seemed different from the others.

June got into a firmer stance and prepared herself to fight the android, but right as her opponent was about to attack, Balthazar appeared behind the android and stabbed it with his cane.

"Hmm, it seems you have a human soul…" Balthazar muttered.

The android tried to move to attack the elder vampire, but he quickly swiped his cane to the side and snapped the android's body in half, instantly leaving it out of commission.

June relaxed, noticing the fight was over, and inquired what Balthazar meant by the android having a soul.

"Well, the only reason the cartel has these androids is because the Azure Rebels gave it to them when they were being threatened…" Balthazar calmly explained.

"I suppose after the rebels broke off their deal, the androids refused to follow Netherius' orders," he continued.

"So, he placed human souls in them that he can command…" June finished the sentence.

"Exactly," the elder vampire confirmed.

June wanted to report their findings to the other groups, but the jamming of their signal didn't allow them to reach anyone, making her scoff with annoyance.

When the trio finally entered the corrupted hospital and walked toward the source of the powerful necrotic energy, a few zombies came out of the rooms to attack them, but they were easily taken out without much effort.

"I have to apologize to you, Miss June…" Balthazar said as they walked through the dark hallway.

"Hmm?" June hummed, raising an eyebrow.

"When we were placed into a team together, I thought you would be deadweight, considering you can't use any type of magic…" Balthazar explained.

"I was wrong, though. You were able to sense that android before me, so I apologize for my ignorance," the elder vampire said with a polite tone.

"It's fine. I would've thought the same thing if I were in your shoes…" June replied, completely unoffended by the vampire's comments.

The truth was that June wouldn't have joined the scouting mission if she hadn't trained with Master Hayato at the Jade Palace.

The swordmaster, Hayato, couldn't use any type of magic either, but he could still somehow feel it and counter it with his own five senses, and that's exactly what Master Hayato taught June and Maya to do.

Magic users relied on their own magic to sense the presence of others, but using their five senses worked just as well, or even better in some cases.

As they got closer to the source of the energy, June halted her steps as the temperature dropped, prompting the two vampires to stop with her.

"What is it?" Balthazar pondered, believing that June could sense something he couldn't.

"I heard something behind us," June replied, turning around and staring into the dark hallway.

'I can't feel anything…' Balthazar thought.

When June pulled out her pistol, she unleashed a few shots, and one of them produced sparks as if it had hit a metallic structure.

"There!" June exclaimed, and not even a second later, another android rushed through the hallway towards them, zig-zagging erratically to avoid the bullets.

Balthazar was about to jump in and deal with the android, but he wanted to test June's combat skills, so he stepped aside for a moment.

'I'll jump in and help if she needs it…' The vampire thought.

As the android got closer to June, she noticed it looked like a common woman, so she deduced she was one of the latest android models, which had a large arsenal of weapons hidden in their bodies.

When the android opened her mouth, a large gun barrel extruded from it and released a powerful flame resembling a flamethrower that covered the entire area in front of her.

Ezekiel and Balthazar jumped inside one of the hospital rooms to avoid the fire. Meanwhile, June took out her jacket, which was nonflammable, and used it as a shield to advance forward without getting burned to a crisp.

Suddenly, the android had its face covered by the jacket, shrouding her vision and halting her flamethrower. Still, by the time she removed the fabric from her face, June stood before her with her long-barrel pistol in hand, aimed at her opponent's forehead.

*Bang!* The shot echoed inside the building, prompting the vampires to return to the hallway, where June stood next to the dead android.

The ex-detective's arm was a bit burned from the attack, but she quickly healed it with her healthstone. June was aware that the healthstones would make a person tired if they tried healing deep wounds, but the burn in her arm wasn't a big deal to her.

After grabbing her jacket and placing it on her shoulder, she gazed at her companions and continued walking toward the source of the necrotic energy.
