Modern World Warlock-Chapter 309: Megan Vs. Stone Death Knight (Part 1)
As Lindsey and Irina faced Radeon, the skeletal Death Knight, Megan found herself battling alone against the massive stone knight on an adjacent street.
While her opponent was leagues stronger than her, Megan was much quicker, so she was able to avoid his attacks with a bit of ease.
Nonetheless, the stony armor covering the knight proved to be her biggest challenge, as her blade couldn't cut through it.
When Megan tried to look for a small gap between the armor pieces, she noticed that there was a small opening under the knight's shoulders whenever he raised his arms. Nonetheless, she could barely get close to her opponent before he flailed his long hatchets around.
At one point, the knight kneeled and placed one of his palms against the corrupted ground, prompting Megan to quickly approach him, believing that it was an opening.
However, as she got closer, she felt the earth beneath her rumbling, and while Megan didn't fully understand what was happening, she was able to tell that it was dangerous and jumped to the side.
Right as she got away from running in a straight line towards the knight, dozens of rock spikes appeared from the ground, with a height of at least two meters.
*Tch* 'This guy is going to be a problem…' Megan thought, relieved that she wasn't impaled by the spikes.
When the earth started to rumble again, she took a few steps back and waited for the spikes to appear. However, when she glanced at the Death Knight, the man was burrowing both of his hands down into the ground, pulling out a massive boulder from it.
After the knight targeted Megan, who was moving around the street, he threw the boulder with both arms. Still, the brunette was calm and ran forward towards the giant rock and slid on the ground, avoiding the projectile.
The knight didn't expect Megan to slide under the rock, and when she appeared a few meters away from him, she waved her dagger a few times and released numerous slices fused with umbra.
Her attacks seemed to scratch the stone armor, but the damage wasn't enough for the knight to flinch.
After the knight waved his hatchet to get the woman away from him, she avoided the weapon but was still blasted away by the force generated by his swing.
'I'll need a different weapon…' Megan thought.
She could keep using her dagger until she found an opening, but that would take longer, and she also needed to regroup with her team, who were facing Radeon.
Glancing to the side, Megan spotted a construction area that had been fully corrupted by death's ichor and sharpened her gaze before bolting away.
The stone Death Knight followed Megan along the street, which was exactly what the brunette wanted him to do.
While running, the knight waved his hatchets a few times and tried to impale Megan with spikes coming from beneath the ground. Still, Megan was nimble enough to avoid all of his attacks while keeping up the pace of her run.
As soon as they reached the construction site, Megan looked up and saw a few steel beams hanging from the machines.
On the ground floor, a group of mindless zombies wandered around the area, and when Megan scanned her surroundings, she found a few tools that were left behind. Still, she was only interested in one—the sledgehammer.
Megan wasn't sure if it would be enough to break through the knight's defense, but sledgehammers were used to demolish houses and bend strong metals, so she thought it would be worth a try.
The zombies targeted Megan and rushed at her. Nevertheless, she was able to grab the hammer and jump over the partition, which was demolished a second later as the Death Knight shoulder-charged his way inside.
The mindless zombies were blasted away by the knight's force. Still, as soon as he broke through the partition, Megan was nowhere to be seen.
Suddenly, the Death Knight turned around with haste as he sensed something approaching from behind, only to be met by a swinging steel beam that hit him in the face.
The knight tumbled and fell on his rear as a chunk of his helm was shattered, showcasing a small part of the man's grey face and teal eyes.
Megan was riding atop the beam that assaulted him, and when she dropped down with the sledgehammer in hand, the knight clenched his grip on the ground and produced a pool of spikes all around him.
One of the spikes grew with its tip directed at Megan, but the brunette was able to slam the spike with the hammer before it got to her, shattering it and giving her a small step to regain her balance.
"Mhmm, this works," Megan muttered to herself, clenching the hammer with both her hands.
The woman expected the steel beam to do a lot more damage, but breaking through his armor was good enough as she now had an opening she could attack with her blades.
Before the knight could continue his onslaught of attacks, Megan drew her dagger with one hand and threw it upwards, landing on a narrow steel beam that was over fifteen meters high.
The knight followed the knife's trajectory, but the undead seemed confused about the brunette's intentions—not like he could voice out his concerns.
When the knight looked back down, Megan was standing less than a meter away from him, swinging the sledgehammer with all her might.
The undead lowered his arm and prepared his shoulder plate to receive the hit, and when he did, his shoulder piece of armor shattered as the massive man was pushed to the side.
Megan wanted to follow it up with another attack, but the knight was quick to generate the earth spikes around him to defend him while he stood up.
With half of his face and one whole shoulder out in the open, Megan was sure that she could win, and she needed to do it fast to regroup with Lindsey and Irina.
