Modern World Warlock-Chapter 246: Dante Vs. Death Knight (Part 2)
After Alice, Megan, and Zac had evacuated most of the people out of the underwater cave, the ex-detective made one last trip to the entrance.
The only ones left were the young couple, accompanied by Laurent, who had warned them of the Death Knight.
As the ex-detective made her way through the submerged tunnel, she felt the water getting colder, and when she looked forward, she saw the vampire lord carrying the young couple in his arms, using his wings to propel himself underwater.
Behind Laurent, a wave of icy magic could be seen slowly freezing the tunnel walls, prompting Alice to turn back in an instant, understanding that she shouldn't get close to the ice.
Still, her speed wouldn't be enough to escape, and before Laurent could catch up to her, the vampire opened his mouth and produced a magical wave that pushed the water out of the tunnel with force, including Alice, Laurent, and the two captive youngins.
As the group shot out of the tunnel into the ocean, the young couple was close to losing consciousness, as they hadn't been using an oxygen tank to escape since there weren't any available.
Thankfully, Madeline quickly grabbed them and pulled them to the surface, taking them to the bonfire at the top of the cliff where the rest of the escapees were warming up.
"What was that!?" Alice asked the vampire while floating on the water.
"It's the Death Knight… He's freezing the entire cave," Laurent replied.
Even though Alice had seen Dante fighting demons like Astaroth, where he showcased the true level of his powers, she still felt a bit worried for the warlock.
Suddenly, the water in the ocean began getting even colder, prompting Alice and Laurent to get to the rocky shore, where Zac was waiting for them.
The redhead, sitting atop the rocks, shivered from the cold and sneezed loudly, wondering if he would be getting sick after the mission.
As Alice and Laurent got to the rocks, they turned around to see the water was releasing a cold mist, which began to fill the area with a thick fog that reduced their visibility.
Zac looked down at the waves crashing against the rocks, noticing the water slowly solidifying, which confused him momentarily, only to widen his eyes a few seconds later in realization.
*BOOM!* A loud explosion could be heard, followed by a giant water column in the ocean that rose from the force.
The group was startled and prepared their combat stances, glaring at the water pillar and seeing Dante and the Death Knight coming out of it.
While in mid-air, the warlock kicked the knight in the chest with all of his strength, flinging his massive frame against the cliff wall.
Right as the Death Knight landed on the rocky surface, he waved his blue flaming sword and released a long fire slice that made the ocean water sizzle as it traveled toward Dante.
After Dante protected himself with a shadow wall, the Death Knight jumped high in the air and caught up to the warlock, waving his sword with might and violence.
When he noticed he couldn't avoid the blade, Dante quickly shrouded his arm in a thick layer of umbra and blocked the strike.
While the sword wasn't able to cut through the warlock's defenses, the force of the slash still sent him flying and crashing against the lighthouse.
"Ugh…" Dante scoffed as he stood up, shaking the debris dust from his shoulders.
Finding himself on the lighthouse's ground floor, the warlock realized that he would have to end the fight soon, or the seaside market could get destroyed.
Meanwhile, Zac, Alice, Laurent, and Madeline were facing the Death Knight at the bottom of the cliff.
'So, that's how a Death Knight looks… So cool!' Zac thought, scrutinizing his opponent's armor and weapon.
Still, he couldn't focus too hard on the details as he was having trouble trying not to slip on the rocks, wondering how his team was able to stand so firmly.
When the knight raised his flaming sword upwards, the vampires and Alice quickly jumped to the sides to avoid whatever was coming for them.
However, Zac stood still, as he couldn't get a good grip on his feet on the ground, widening his eyes and raising his arms forward to protect himself.
Suddenly, a blood projectile hit the knight's armor in the head, splashing blood all over his helm, prompting him to glare at Madeline, who shot him from the sky.
"Whoops…" Madeline said, noticing that her attack had almost no effect on the knight except for making her his target.
As the Death Knight jumped over ten meters in the air to attack Madeline, her older brother appeared from the side with a furious expression, using his palm and producing a shockwave that pushed the knight back down to the ground.
After Laurent lost his first fight against Dante, the Jade Dragons ended up capturing Irina, and the brother couldn't help but feel like he was unable to protect his younger siblings.
While everything worked out for them in the end, as they became allies, he knew that he couldn't let that happen again.
For that reason, the very moment Madeline was in danger, Laurent's body acted up on its own and rushed to protect her.
The Death Knight crashed on a large cement pier near the lighthouse, and his body wobbled as Laurent's attack seemingly weakened the knight.
Right as the group noticed their opponent's hesitation, they began rushing towards the pier, with the vampires carrying the Jade Dragons' members to get there faster.
"Alright, all together!" Alice exclaimed.
Suddenly, the Death Knight glared at the group traveling towards him and raised his guard, producing a foreboding energy that made the vampires stop their advance.
A wave of uncontrollable fear rushed through their bodies, leaving them unable to say a word or move a muscle.
"Malevolent Art: Wrath," Dante muttered.
In the blink of an eye, the warlock appeared sitting on the knight's shoulders with a carefree expression, using his head as support for his elbow holding his chin.
Dante's back produced a fiery energy, and his right hand had completely turned into a shadowy claw with flames.
"Not bad, Death Knight…" Dante muttered, gently placing his claw on his opponent's head.
The umbra flowing from Dante was so intense and fierce that the knight was petrified, unable to retaliate such a disrespectful move.
"I've had enough," the warlock continued, his voice profound and severe, clenching his claw that was holding the knight's head and making his helm crack.
A second later, the Death Knight's body was lit up in flames from the inside, as his head was crushed by Dante's claw, finishing the encounter.
